He came to North Texas and was an awesome player. Got his degree and now he’s moving on. It wasn’t too long ago we praised our depth at the WR position. 🤨 good luck Jaylen!...I look forward to hearing you say North Texas on your Monday Night Football intro.3 points

Ahh good ole UDD. Can't wait to read the blatant anti-UNT bias when they review the West division teams.2 points

Not sure we should be bringing up bowl performances after we laid an egg against Utah State.2 points

Only reason I can think of for that would be that the thread title is understated. It is more accurate this way, IMO: "Got Our NutsaCK Handed To Us By Asses!"2 points

Did I miss something, didn't he graduate in December? The purpose of college is learn and earn a degree. He did so early while playing football - something that is NOT easy. It calls for a lot of long nights after practice studying. I'm guessing since he has no plans for a Masters, he really has no reason to take a number of graduate courses just to play football. Leaving school after you graduate isn't leaving early.2 points

A road trip to La Tech would be fun, except there doesn't seem to be anything to do in Ruston. My dad once told me the only thing good coming out of Louisiana is I-20...2 points

Not sold on Morris as a head coach. If Hicks exhibits the same attitude he appeared to have at SMU, I wouldn't want him close to my younger players.1 point

This will be a tough schedule. Much tougher than our last two, for sure. OOC games will be interesting. I think we have one sure win against ACU, but the other three are tissues to me. I’d take 2-2 right now from that group, to be honest. I have no idea what CUSA play looks like next year, but I suspect we will get 5-6 wins from that mix of teams. 8-4 will be my hope and prediction.1 point

have we ever had 8 home games on our schedule like we do this upcoming year?1 point

Proud of him. I love the Nate Brooks story. Young man comes in, wins the starting job, loses the starting job to a JUCO transfer and instead of pouting and getting down on himself, he continued to work, was a good teammate and succeeded this year. And, I would assume he performed above many of our expectations. Nate, Kemon and E.J., go out and make the Mean Green Family proud and earn yourself a job on Sunday afternoons.1 point

Excellent! It was already anounced that Ejiya and Hall were going to play in this game as well. So we'll have 3 guys going in this game. https://meangreensports.com/news/2018/12/10/football-ejiya-hall-selected-to-nflpa-collegiate-bowl.aspx1 point

For whatever reason, the shots weren't falling for the women. They were 30% in the game. Well under their season average of just under 40%.1 point

It feels like the emotional part of this schedule is front-loaded, with the UTSA game being this early as opposed to late like the last few years, plus Houston and SMU all within the first five. I am not sure that is good for attendance. If you lose one or two games early, having rivalries etc late is a way to get attendance independent of where the teams are in the standings.1 point

Since when did this become the home of San Francisco basketball? I'm confused.1 point

This is a schedule I can get excited for. Low key hoping that UTSA date magically changes.1 point

Shorter, White, Ogunmakin, Simpson, Lyles, etc... We have plenty of depth from highly regarded players. Time for one of these young men to step up and take advantage of this opportunity.1 point

Regardless of whether or not he is NFL-ready, how can you possibly bad-mouth a kid who has already gotten his degree? Say what you about his drops, etc., but he was a guy that defenses had to account for.1 point

Funny this was brought up - The night before the Bowl Game, I was in the elevator at the team hotel with Quinn and asked him what his plans were after the season (you know, if he was going to shoot for his PHD at UNT, team manager/towel boy, or something else to stick around Denton (jokingly)) - He brought up potentially going to the XFL! Not kidding. I cannot see him there, but that's just my opinion. He went on to say that ultimately, he sees himself coaching as that's what he is passionate about. Will be interesting to see how the XFL rolls out, as I wouldn't be surprised if we do see some NT names there in the future; probably some JG-scenario types. I hope JG will be successful, but also hoping he follows the right steps and has a back-up plan. Another year at UNT would have done him some real good, but to each their own! As another post said, I would be far more concerned if this were Rico Bussey. Can't wait to see that kid play next year.1 point

I wish him well!!! The good news is, we are loaded at this position. I think we can absorb this loss.1 point

I don't know if anyone is "hating", rather, disgusted with your tearing down an alumnus. Will you be wrong if he's on an NFL roster next season? As for your claim, I suppose the proof will be in the pudding. Let's see if White/Ogunmakin/Shorter/<whoever wins his vacated Z spot> can eclipse 54 catches for 800+yds & 6 TDs. The bar is clearly set.1 point
-
Exactly this. I imagine @peanuts104 didn’t hang around UNT after his graduation taking classes that he didn’t want or need simply because it was better for the university either.1 point

If UNT starts 3-0 and 4-0, then (barring horrible weather), not only will we see the first Apogee Stadium sellout, but we will see the first two Apogee sellouts in a row.1 point

Good. I think he was scared of the competition from our younger receivers and knew he wasn't going to be the starter next year.1 point

"not a guarantee to go in the first two days" sounds like "wouldn't be surprising if he is drafted in the later rounds" to me. Is that what anyone else read?1 point

To put the 2019 class into perspective... 247Sports started really tracking recruiting in 1999/2000. So that's roughly around 500 recruited and rated players for UNT. This current signed class has 3 top 10 players of those 500 in the 247s database, and 9 top 25 players. This class is historically good for UNT and the staff deserves that recognition.1 point

Best of luck to JG!! Have a great pro-day, and he could sneak into the draft. Otherwise, he'll definitely get a shot in someone's camp as a UDFA. How awesome would it be to have 2 dudes drafted after all these years? (assuming Ejiya is going to get picked) Time for one of White/Ogunmakin/Shorter to step up & seize their opportunity.1 point
