Are people actually downvoting this comment. That was display reminded me of some last games of Dan McCarney's tenure. It was beyond selfish and immature and you can't win as a team doing that. No 4 is a starter upperclassmen. You have sit guys like that to send a message to the rest of the team. You don't lead like that.

It seems we have no coach(s) or player(s) who are the type of leaders who can get this team fired up when things are going wrong

These camera ops need to loosen their frictions a bit and learn to allow decent lead room ahead of the ball carrier. Maybe zoom out a bit more. But just the loosening of the frictions alone would at least fix the jerkiness that's driving me crazy!! I am completely disgusted with the leadership of C-USA. Yes, ODU has an absolutely terrible broadcast, but it should at least be reliable. It is bad enough almost all of our conference games are relegated to streaming, but we can't even view the game now. Next time the athletic department asks me how they are doing, I will tell them they are doing a good job, except for when it comes to holding our conference leadership accountable. C-USA needs better leadership.

These second half meltdown are just disgusting. Undisciplined penalties are just inexcusable. This has to fixed next season if they are going to win CUSA.

Very confused as to why we are making these risky play calls when we don’t need to...we’ve fed ourselves right into a dogfight now. This is not a good job of coaching today. And certainly some lack of execution on the team’s part.

Apparently the halftime didn't help the camera people. Does ODU let people from the crowd run the cameras like the parents run the possession on out of bound plays in YMCA soccer?

Biggest concern to me right now is when the ref called the second penalty, he was so pissed off he could barely speak. I don't know if I trust them to call a fair second half.

This was not a talent difference. Simply watch the game. It was completely a tactic and strategy difference. It doesn’t matter who we play in the tournament, they will all be good. We have had lucky draws before against the likes of Tech and SMU and Hedlund still never delivered. Again, philosophy results have always struck its ugly head because this style will never win tourney games when you are up against a strong possession team that uses the midefilwd as it is intended. I said this about 10 years ago and I continue to be correct. I was really hoping to be wrong this year because our team is far more athletic than years past. A good midfield is like solid offensive and defensive lines... if they do well, the teams likely do well. Our philosophy doesn’t use them as we should. Just a bunch of Hail Mary’s. But what do I know? I have only played competitively most of my life while also coaching (and officiating) for about 8 years.

First, I want to say I love this team and I wish all of our athletic teams fought like the soccer girls do. As with all college sports it comes down to recruiting. Next season, for the first time in school history, we have a proper facility for the soccer team. It will be interesting to see if we have an uptick in recruiting over the next couple of years.

He has coached this way with intention. I was great friends with the soccer players during my undergrad from 2000-2004 and we would discuss tactics. They even agreed with me that possession and my style of play would be far superior than the long ball that Hedlund plays. But you gotta play the way the coach wants. I am honestly not sure Hedlund is capable of coaching a different style. But it is what it is.

If we are going to play this long ball.. our forward has to be better than what I saw tonight. We got nothing from our forwards. 😞

How about we just finally realize our potential and leave the small privates behind?
