  1. Spreading and sharing this post from one fan to another...As Mean Green faithful, we will always talk about the fight in our team, and to never give up on them or each other in even the most challenging of circumstances on gamedays during the season. For anyone on GMG like myself who has experienced the daunting battle against cancer with a friend or loved one, you know what it truly means to fight and to never give up. There are things in life that are much bigger than football, and you never know what battles people are fighting every day. I don't know Steve personally, perhaps some of you do, but lets show this fine man and fellow Mean Green fan some support through a follow, tweet, like, or share, and show him we care!

  2. On October 16, 1998, The Celina Bobcats lost to Pilot Point with a score of 24-13. Afterwards, Celina went on to win 68 straight games that included 4 consecutive state championships. They outscored their opponents 2,642 to 529 with 25 shutouts. They set a state record for the most consecutive wins by a Texas high school football team, and that record still stands today. Winning streaks begin after a loss, so keep believing in the Mean Green and let's support our team to one victory after the other. The game against UTEP could be the start of something great, so be part of it! #GMG #IStillBelieve #TheMGStandard

  12. At the end of the day (see what I did there?) no one outside of us cares whether or not NT wins the division. So yes, a non-championship 11-1 team probably does more for the program long term than last year’s 9-5 non-championship

  13. Negative vote not from me. Your “we” was sweeping & collective. It did not include me, and apparently at least 1 other, at the time I’m posting this. What I saw was a team that hit the reset button (not “believing the hype”), as evidenced by the fast start. Several bad breaks happened at the worst times & we found ourselves losing by merely 2 points to everyone’s choice as West division #2. Those same breaks happen to a team that “believes the hype”... that team folds like a cheap tent & gets whooped 50-21. The proof will be in the pudding for the remainder of the season I suppose.

  14. If UAB doesn't muff a punt on their own 5, get away from a running game that La Tech CANNOT stop, miss a field goal or get a field goal blocked....they'll have a good chance to win.

  20. I went by myself for there last watch party. It was great. Only reason I am not going again is because it is a long drive for me and I want to be able to peak at other games if this one becomes a blowout.

  32. I’ll be glad when they start penalizing P5 schools in the polls after the “top 25” teams they beat are shown to be mediocre (I’m looking at you Texas).

  33. Did I say you? Every single ex-player and coach I sat with would be the we. Same with the people I tailgated with. As in plural. There was a lot of hubris on that field. First case in point, an attempted fair catch on the five yard line just before the half. Let it go and get it on the 20. Go in at the half leading. Naw, I got this. Or how about late hits just to let the other guy know you are the big man? Or being out prepared? 55 yards in penalties, mostly at really bad times, compared to their 10? How about letting your QB get sacked badly 5 five times? Do you think for a second our coaches weren't pissed off at the mental preparedness of these players who have been living on cloud 9 since beating an SEC team? Bottom line is La Tech was poised and made plays when it really counted because they were prepared. We weren't. They thought after the fiirst quarter it was over because they jumped up and took their foot off the gas. When they watch the CUSA Championship on TV they'll know all that crap on ESPN or the radio was static. In films Coach Bill Michael used to say stuff like this after games like this: Ya'll ran out there acting like the big dog and spent the rest of the game lookin like a mule lookin at a new gate. He'd say pretty much the same after watching that game...

  34. Well, if the team wants a trip to the Bahamas, or Hawaii, over other bowl opportunities... instead of going down the road to Dallas/Ft.Worth/Frisco or to Albuquerque/Boca Raton, or waiting for the Independence Bowl & C-USA leadership to finish bending over for whichever ACC/SEC team landing there... then that's where they deserve to go. Unless we win the West, I bet LATech goes to New Orleans.

  36. I've been working a few off duty shifts at the State Fair and met Nic Smith on Wednesday night and Jordan Murray Thursday night. It was a pleasure getting to have a brief chat with each of them and I can honestly say I'm impressed with the way our student athletes represent themselves and the school in public. They were both wearing UNT shirts so they better behave! I also saw this post on Twitter the other day and wanted to highlight Kemon Hall as well. I've seen several posts in recent years of UNT players getting out in the community and making a difference in people's lives even on their own time. Building a bond with the community will help build the fan base so kudos to Hall and the others. It's nice to not have had any players get arrested in a few years.

  37. How so? Our team literally gave away the game to La Tech. I expect we’ll see laser focus tomorrow. Kinda feel bad for UTEP actually cause they DONT get to sneak up on us now. Have a feeling we’re gonna take out our frustrations on them early and often.

  39. La Tech’s #7,....with his arms down by his side and his head down to use the crown of his helmet to punch Kelvin Smith in the face mask, clearly snapping Smith’s head around...NO CALL! If this isn’t targeting then what is? Rick

  40. I think the Hawaii trip is all about recruiting, as was the Europe trip this summer. Traveling to places like that appeals to kids that normally don't have the opportunity or resources to visit those kind of spots. The extra practice was a bonus. That still doesn't excuse the lack of quality opponents at home. Now that the NCAA says that RPI doesn't matter, maybe scheduling teams you know you can beat is the way to go. Won't excite a lot of real fans but the average college student will just look at the won loss record. As the program builds, I think it will be easier to get some big name opponents to make the trip. Indiana State is a mid major but has a strong basketball reputation so big schools don't look as bad if they get beat on the road to a quality, recognizable program. I trust Wren and Grant know what is best for this program and will do everything they can help build up the fan base.

  42. First it should’ve said 2for1 and yes to get teams to play in your tournament sometimes the team hosting agrees to play you at home

  43. Those games in Hawaii are exactly what I think is the worst part: If people with top 100 teams don't want to one-on-one you, make sure you squeeze into a tournament where winners play winners, instead of one whose primary upside is location for recruiting (in a year when UNT already took the players to Italy). That way you may get an additional top 100 team or two anyway. You can't tell me that isn't possible, those tournaments were out there and it could have been done. Plain and simple, this schedule deserves an F grade. The best thing that can be said about this schedule is not having gone full Benford/RV and kicked UTA off it. I think they are aware they messed up. Its why UNT is almost the last team out there to announce its OOC slate.

  44. Next year’s home OOC schedule will be the best we’ve had in years.

  45. I tend to agree with what you'll are saying, but at the same time we need another successful season or two to keep our recruiting on the upward path.
