  1. I've been working a few off duty shifts at the State Fair and met Nic Smith on Wednesday night and Jordan Murray Thursday night. It was a pleasure getting to have a brief chat with each of them and I can honestly say I'm impressed with the way our student athletes represent themselves and the school in public. They were both wearing UNT shirts so they better behave! I also saw this post on Twitter the other day and wanted to highlight Kemon Hall as well. I've seen several posts in recent years of UNT players getting out in the community and making a difference in people's lives even on their own time. Building a bond with the community will help build the fan base so kudos to Hall and the others. It's nice to not have had any players get arrested in a few years.

  2. If I have to choose between having Littrell and going 7-6 or a little better every year, along with the kinds of players he has on the team vs having Kiffen, etc. and going 10-2, I'll take SL all day long.

  3. The more I think about his injury....the more upset I get. I’m not taking anything away from DeAndre Torrey or Nick Smith. I feel good about moving forward with both of them and this offense. But there was something about Loren Easley. After reading his story.....apparently he ended up at SFA instead of a bigger school out of high school because of his injury history. But watching him run this year.....he just has elite written all over him Go back and watch some of his games this year. Especially the last two. He was really starting to pick up momentum. His power, vision and speed is elite. He has that “it” that Jeff Wilson had. Especially the vision. I really think he could’ve more than made up for the absence of Wilson this year. I don’t know what will happen with his career. I hope he recovers and if he wants to keep playing I hope he does. One of the best Ds in the conference had no answer for him.

  7. How so? Our team literally gave away the game to La Tech. I expect we’ll see laser focus tomorrow. Kinda feel bad for UTEP actually cause they DONT get to sneak up on us now. Have a feeling we’re gonna take out our frustrations on them early and often.

  8. I gotta tell you, I stopped at the Denton Walmart before the UNT game to get some rain pants. (Too expensive so I didn’t get them.). I wandered past the North Texas clothing section. It was nice too see for a first timer in the Denton Walmart. I looked at the Dri-fit style polos. They were marked $25. Seemed like a great deal. Went to the self checkout and it rang up “POLO $5”. Lucky day, I thought... until about 37 or so seconds left in the 4th quarter. True story.

THE REAL ONES TRIED TO KILL ME!” By the way, check out her band, The Breast Cancer Can Stick It Band, playing at the Alumni Pavillion before the Southern Miss game. https://www.facebook.com/thebreastcancercanstickitband/

  12. Another fantastic episode. Not worried about our team, but UTEP should be very worried.

  13. This might come off as a pointless and negative story and it kind of is but.. I was super excited for the retro gear being released this weekend so I made sure I hit the stadium store pregame. I spent a good chunk on the retro Nike T short sleeve, Retro Nike Long Sleeve, & Retro Nike NT Polo. I wore the T shirt and put my favorite unt hoodie back in the bag with the others. While watching the kick get blocked and the confusion after, someone stole my bag with all my gear in it. The worst part is I was sitting on the home side by mostly UNT fans. So I lost a little faith in my unt brethren but I’m guessing they needed that gear more than me.

  14. On October 16, 1998, The Celina Bobcats lost to Pilot Point with a score of 24-13. Afterwards, Celina went on to win 68 straight games that included 4 consecutive state championships. They outscored their opponents 2,642 to 529 with 25 shutouts. They set a state record for the most consecutive wins by a Texas high school football team, and that record still stands today. Winning streaks begin after a loss, so keep believing in the Mean Green and let's support our team to one victory after the other. The game against UTEP could be the start of something great, so be part of it! #GMG #IStillBelieve #TheMGStandard

  15. La Tech’s #7,....with his arms down by his side and his head down to use the crown of his helmet to punch Kelvin Smith in the face mask, clearly snapping Smith’s head around...NO CALL! If this isn’t targeting then what is? Rick

  17. I agree with you I think we've been able to contain much better than in the past. We'll always miss one here or there, but our run D is very VERY good this season and I think that's making a difference with the mobile QBs as they haven't had many opportunities to scramble upfield. Liberty had Buckshot roll out to get out of pressure, and J'Mar could only scramble to the sideline when he could.

  19. I wouldn't worry too much about that. ESPN owns the Dallas, Ft Worth, and Frisco bowls. ESPN wants to sell tickets and they have the ability to trade teams around to get butts in seats. North Texas would sell a lot for each of these bowls, and would even bring a large contingency to Shreveport. We'll be fine.

  23. If UAB doesn't muff a punt on their own 5, get away from a running game that La Tech CANNOT stop, miss a field goal or get a field goal blocked....they'll have a good chance to win.

  32. Maybe they messed up, maybe they didn't. Run off an 8-0 start, beat Oklahoma on the road, then get press. Seems we've done this recently with another sport.

  34. This particular injury was on the opposite knee, which is the same one her tore in high school. The knee with the brace was the one he tore at SFA, and rehabbed here at UNT while redshirted.

  38. Oh dear god and all things sweet and unholy. I didn't read the entire first post. Dodge? Unprecedented success? In college? The day they even let that (Insert appropriate adjective and vowel here) set foot in Denton city limits, I stop giving UNT athletics a dime of my money, pull my daughter out of TAMS, set fire to 35E through the lake cities to prevent access to Denton, and move far, far away from the state of Texas, never to don but a stitch of green clothing again for the rest of my days both alive and thereafter. How's that for an unshakable feeling?

  39. He's saying a 3-way tiebreaker would look something like this: LATech beats UNT UAB beats LATech UNT beats UAB Then, the head-to-head matchups don't help. You have to move to the next line of tiebreak rules.

  44. Those saying college football is borked are not wrong. The 4 team playoff is the worst thing to ever happen in college football. I'll not come off that stance. Eff the power schools. Eff em all fricken day long. They are evil. Still, yesterday was a great day and bittersweet all the same. I wouldn't support another school and am not going away anytime soon (Good Lord willing). And LaTech is a school I definitely like being associated with. They are tough, smart and get more out of their resources than almost anyone else in the country.

  45. Okay, so I'm still in Denton, but I do go back to the City of Angels tomorrow morning.... I was on campus and at Apogee just about the whole day. I had a feeling it was gonna be a big crowd when I was up in the Student bookstore and there were tons of families buying Mean Green stuff there. Really, I should have had the vibe on Thursday night when we got to town and stopped into Albertans and the cashier asked if we were in town for the game. As much of a buzz as I ever have felt in the Little D for a home game. The tail gating energy was fantastic. I'm sure that was a mix of our record, Joe Greene's statue unveiling, Parents Weekend, and all the rest. (Mean Joe was a bit of a rambler and the crowd was getting a bit anxious by the time they finally unveiled the statue, but it was still a moment I am extremely glad I was on hand for) It was as big of a festival atmosphere as any tailgating area I've ever seen and I was really inspired. And when the game started, the crowd did its job. Even when when we were struggling, people in my area of Apogee were very much into the game. There were some negative comments thrown around - some seemed to nearly give up with defeatist chatter midway through the 3rd quarter - but I really thought the crowd was gonna will the team to a win. And we nearly did. Even though we lost, I think we are the better team. Not last night mind you...you can't really claim to be better when you lose. But there were about 8 plays last night, any one of which if they go our way I think we probably win. Everything from the failed two point conversion (which to me looked like he got in just as he hit the ground) to the back to back fumbles, to the hit upright, to others that I am having a tough time recalling at 6:30 in the morning. I know it's always the mantra of teams/fanbases that say they were just a few plays a way, but we really were. I wish we had run the ball more. It would have kept their pass rush more honest...their one guy (#45) basically dominated half the game by himself). LA Tech had some really long drives in the second quarter which probably gassed our defense for the rest of the night. However, I thought the D played quite well in the second half despite this. We got big stop after big stop the last quarter and a half. We definitely had our chances! It was nice being back for a home game for the first time in years and seeing so many familiar faces. For those old friends I didn't get to see, I wish I had run into you. Until next time! Go Mean Green.
