  5. This isn’t always the case. I’m a senior now in the biology department and have had several professors who say a lot of good things about UNT. The Biology Department Chair (Dr. Art Goven III) talked about how well our basketball team was doing and encouraged people to go to the CBI games while I was taking his Immunology class. My genetics professor (a graduate of Harvard & John’s Hopkins) told us that he preferred it here over those schools basically because we’re less entitled. My Microbiology professor (Dr. Hughes) attends football games & basketball games. I’ve had GAs/GTs tell us to go to football games “because we aren’t bad anymore”. The perception is changing, but with any change, it takes time.

  6. Lets find the smallest high school available, and try to get NT a game there, were it would assure a sell-out. I don't understand your point at all, NT should strive to play in a venue that accommodates all fans that want to attend. Hoping to have 20,000 NT fans at Frisco vs 30,000 or more fans at the HOD bowl is questionable. Most fans can figure out that the relationship between stadium size and perceived attendance. If NT played at Frisco and sold it out, the response would be by the average college football fan; so what it is a tiny stadium.

  7. Interesting. Is the $300,000. that the City of Dallas reportedly did not pay represent the franchise cost of hosting a game at the Cotton Bowl on whatever day ? And if so, is that all the $300K gets you ? I wonder if ESPN provides any commercial time during the game for that fee. I remember when the RL Carriers New Orleans Bowl was broadcast, I saw RL Carriers ads that I'd never seen before. As if they were produced especially for the bowl game. Maybe we should have a GOMEANGREEN.com Bowl. We could have a helmet sticker booth and uniform talk booth and hire an airplane to fly around fussing about something.

  9. I too am against that hire. They are however a more reliable source than Breitbart. Whataboutisms will get you nowhere in life. Back on topic which the aforementioned will not save you from: Let's just say hypothetically if Alex Jones goes beyond criticism to hit the hate speech level, encouraged harassment of Sandy Hook families such that his crazy fans stalked them and had them move 7 times, perpetuating Pizza Gate shenanigans, fanning a fake revolver and threatening someone, posted videos of children being thrown to the ground, and then once receiving a Youtube strike if he circumvents the ban the *perhaps* he could deserve removal based on a website's policies. Oh sh*t that all happened. My bad.

  10. Don't put words in my mouth boy. I can be against a hire and still know that one is a nationally relevant publication and the other is a fringe far right, wouldn't even call it conservative, blog. As far as proving Breitbart as a poor blog, it would take less time to list good articles than it would take to list articles with demonstrative untruths. Fake news is not unique to any part of the spectrum. Thirdly NYT hiring someone, with a past that they claim to be redeemed of, is different than a youtuber consistently breaking the published rules of a site in the present. If you think you have a target on your back you should not then go all in on rule breaking or you're just asking for it to happen. If a county gives out speeding tickets with zero tolerance for even 1 MPH over the while passing through would you drive 5 under just in case? Fourthly, the social media companies are still private businesses. They can do what they want and use their policies for their justification when they want. If they ignore their buddy's transgression then they can.

  13. Rick - you posted some screencaps of an anonymous post about Antifa in WA sabotaging the tracks. The anonymous post, was removed from the IGD site, because it didn't even get the facts straight. They claimed they sabotaged an area that was actually 15 miles away for the accident. The NTSB did not find sabotage as the cause, instead the train was going 80MPH in a 30MPH. So -- you know -- keep throwing up a twitter screencap and calling it real news and keeping the fear of the Antifa alive. Keep putting up memes with known false info (Hillary on Trump). Keep acting like that 'free speech' rally at UC was not chock full of white nationalists. That the poor innocent soul that got attacked was some church going poor lad that got hit with a bike chain while walking to the soup kitchen to volunteer. Because it's all fun! Solid! No one gets hurt!

  15. There’s a big difference between what we are saying - 30-40k in a 40-60k capacity - vs 70k empty seats. And I don’t believe we are anywhere close to those MAC crowds. now if all you want is one sold out game, okay then. Just know 1) you’re cutting ticket sales by 30+%, and 2) you’re probably not generating enough buzz to offset that potential revenue. Do you believe otherwise? I’m hard pressed to believe this shares the same psychological affect as Apple allocating supply for the latest iPhone release. we need to keep winning. The numbers and interest are already taking care of themselves.

  20. Per Footballscoop Offensive line coach Jamal Powell is out for a while with an undisclosed medical issue. We ask that you include him in your prayers for a successful recovery. We understand Powell is fighting an infection in his immune system. Sonny Dykes mentioned today he could miss the entire season; but is expected to return to the staff once available. Offensive quality control Johnny Brewer has been promoted to full-time offensive line coach in the interim. SMU has also added Zach Yenser to the staff as a consultant. Yenser previously worked with Dykes at both Cal and LA Tech.

  25. UNT should have their best team in decades. SMU lost Courtland Sutton, Trey Quinn, Justin Lawler and a bunch of other players. They have a brand new staff, playing their first game on the road, against a Mean Green team that hates them. If UNT doesn't beat SMU this year, I don't know when. I'll take the home team by 14.

  28. I think the structure distracts from the overall look of Ford, and fails to blend with the architecture. It also messes up some of the sight lines to the end zone. Not that they have fans sitting there. SMU has money. I'm surprised they couldn't design something nicer.

  32. So we're a few weeks away from the start of the season and we have some really key matchups early on. I've been thinking about the schedule... How would you rank the importance of our games: most important to least? I'll go with: 1) La Tech - I've gone back and forth between them and SMU and FAU...but it feels like our first conference game could be our most important. They're very talented and will be coming into Apogee ready to rumble. They were banged up last year and we barely got out with the W. They have the best D in the West. Winner should be the front runner in CUSA West 2) SMU - It's not a conference game but it's SMU and it's the opener and I think a huge measuring stick to see where our team is. Does the offense continue to dominate? Does the defense improve? Will we have a sell out? A lot of questions will be answered on 9/1 3) FAU - We got drilled twice by them last year. They could be ranked. Could be the biggest game in Apogee history. 4) UAB - I'm not as high on UAB as a lot of people....but they have some talent and we're playing on the road. Games 1-3 are all at Apogee. This will be a test. 5) Arkansas - I don't know the last time I looked forward to going to a big boy as much as I do this one. This could be a shootout and I feel good about our chances to actually come out of there with a W. A W will give us national attention that is so important to this program right now. We're putting everything else together.....need to knock off that big boy 6) UTSA - Ugh 7) Southern MIss - I don't know if they're going to be down this year or not....I think they're kind of a mystery. But I enjoy playing them. Last year's game feels like a turning point for this team 8 - 12) Liberty, Rice, ODU, Incarnate Word, UTEP - We should win these games handily. New red shirt rule comes into effect for the young guys

  34. It would be nice to have that highlighted on the schedule. No mention of it on meangreensports.com either. Also, Parent's Weekend is the LaTech game, for anyone who's interested. My youngest daughter is off to UNT in a week, so for the first time Parent's Weekend has a different meaning to me. Had to do some searching to find both the Homecoming game and Parent's Weekend game. Unless I'm just missing it, it seems like those would be obvious games to highlight on the schedule for quick reference and travel planning especially those of us coming from out of town.

  35. Came across a piece on the Pig Trail network talking about North Texas possibly being the toughest Razorback Non-conference opponent. The commentator did a nice break down of Mason, our offense and prolific receivers. The clips of Mason throwing bomb strikes got me excited for this season and game. Not sure how to embed the link but check out pig trail on YouTube for some solid recognition of our team. Now let’s go beat them! GMG

  40. DENTON - The Mean Green soccer team wrapped up its exhibition schedule on Sunday night at the Mean Green Soccer Complex with a scoreless half of play against SMU before rains came and the second half was canceled. The half the teams played was fairly uneventful, as SMU outshot the Mean Green 5-3 and had three shots on goal to UNT's two. Redshirt freshman goal keeper Kelsey Brann had three saves for UNT. https://www.gomeangreen.com/forums/forum/3-mean-green-athletics/?do=add

  44. 1. UAB- I think this road game could decide who wins C-USA West. 2. LA Tech- This will probably be the toughest divisional home game this season. 3. SMU- We need to jockey ahead of the Mustangs this season. If we do, we could stay there for the foreseeable future. DFW will have a hard time ignoring that. 4. UTSA- I will never accept losing to them. 5. FAU- We can't get the crap beaten out of us for a 3rd straight game. 6. Arkansas- It would be a statement win on the road, and we could do it. 7. ODU- This will be a difficult trip to the east. 8. Southern Miss- Two in a row against USM sends a message. Being bowl eligible after week 7, sends a bigger message. 9. Rice- We should beat our conference mate from Houston. 10. UTEP- Going undefeated against the other C-USA Texas programs is important for recruiting, and UTEP is awful. 11. Liberty- Got to beat the new kid. 12. Incarnate Word- FCS program
