  5. Going back and reading this thread now makes for some interesting reading. UNT is ranked #1 in CUSA and, what, 54th in the nation in recruiting at the current time. Sometimes it takes a guy a bit to get his recruiters and recruiting system in place after taking over a program that had a difficult time even spelling “recruiting”. Anyway, the worm seems to have turned and UNT seems to be a program heading in a very positive direction. Still, in the end it is only about two letters, not recruiting star rankings. Those two letters being “W and L”. I am thinking UNT sees a lot more “W’s” than “L’s” these days.

  6. You are all missing the real problem. How will Cherokee know who it is if it doesn't say North Texas?

  7. I saw this CUSA Stock Market Contest on the CUSA Message Board. Looks fun and a different way to predict the upcoming CUSA season. https://csnbbs.com/thread-853971.html Is here anyone running College Football Pick'em for 2018? I'm interested if you are.

  8. Not certain how this plays out, but this is setting up for that '19 class to take us to a level we have never seen in Denton before. I get shivers thinking what if? what if we have a 10-win season this year, win the bowl game, then open 2019 undefeated through OOC play? Where will this program be? How different would the culture be? Can we keep this up for, say, 8 outta 10 years?

  9. Thanks Rick. Hope all is well. Hope to make all home games this year and planning on going to Arkansas as well.

  11. Was told today....they'd have these at the Apogee spirit shop...probably in the next few weeks. Go Mean Green!

  12. Should go without saying, although I'll say it, keeping Mason Fine healthy is crucial to our success. Best wishes to Weatherspoon. This unit needs to stay injury-free and strong for us in '18. Reducing the number of Fine sacks is so important.

  14. I have a foggy recollection that you sometimes have to lobby to get your guys on the watch lists and RV wasn’t very aggressive in that department. I could be wrong though. Just seem to remember hearing something like that here.

  15. The Sun Belt definitely had a better on field product last season than they've previously had. But its going to be a real challenge for the Sun Belt to maintain its position, let alone gain momentum. They just don't have the budgets, media coverage and fan base support to move up in the football world.

  17. Always thought that shirt was pretty cool. I guess they got enough people asking about it to carry it. I bet a lot of people from Locust Grove coming to the games will be interested in buying them.

  22. I don't believe that his knee was ever strong enough to make the 2-deep. If you go by the composite rating he was tied for 7th with Chandler Anthony who is on the 2-deep. There are 18 offensive linemen so he would be just above the middle of the pack if the rating is valid. Potential.

  23. I lived in the Birmingham area last year and really liked the local sports talk station: JOX FM. They talk LOADS of college football. I don't live there anymore but still live stream them occasionally. This morning they were previewing UT and asked the question: "What FBS team in the state of Texas will have the most wins this year?" They are high on UT, but then went through the rest: Aggies, TTEch, Baylor....then said: of all the schools in Texas, North Texas has a great shot to win the most games in the state They are high on UAB and said that if UAB wins the west, UNT will have a hard time winning 9-10. But they think UNT has a shot to win 10 games. They do a good job of covering CUSA and give UAB plenty of mention (hard to do in the center of SEC Country) But they have always spoke highly of UNT and Seth Littrell. Can we get this season started already?!

  24. just because someone asks for an explanation of another's opinion doesn't mean that they are clearly taking the opposite track. but. I guess I'll step things out for you again: GG: "A no border solution just will not work in the best interest of any nation in the long term." this is an absolute statement, but one with zero actual foundation. it's the logical (I know...you're sick of seeing this word) equivalent of this statement: "this thing, that we've never before seen or experienced, 100% definitely could not work" I asked GG for an explanation for his absolute statement. I didn't advocate for a no-borders world. I've never read of anyone doing so. I never even thought of a zero border world until someone with passionate conviction opined that it was impossible. have fun, sport

  29. You can thank LSU for that. Tulane was the original University of Louisiana many years ago. It decided to go private so it archived the University of Louisiana name. Southwestern Louisiana Institute had become large wanted a name change that sounded more prestigious so they went to Tulane to see if they ever planned to use the University of Louisiana name again. Tulane said no so SLI filed with the state legislature to change their name to the University of Louisiana. When the bill was presented in the legislature, that august body, composed of a majority of LSU grads decided that it would give it too much prestige over Louisiana State which is usually the second banana in a state's pecking order. So, they said that the Lafayette school could use the University of Louisiana if they could get another university in Louisiana to also be called the University of Louisiana at (wherever). SLI was to use the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Well, they got Northeast Louisiana University to agree to change their name to University of Louisiana at Monroe but since the name was so long they preferred to use ULM. University of Louisiana at Lafayette was even longer. Louisiana-Lafayette didn't fit the marquee either so they just used the sign that's actually on the entrance to their campus...University of Louisiana. Because ULM did not want to use either Louisiana-Monroe or UL-Monroe and I guess because the Lafayette campus was much older, they deferred using the term University of Louisiana. Long story short; anytime you see Louisiana or University of Louisiana it refers to the Lafayette campus. The Sun Belt Conference uses Louisiana referring to Lafayette. Some sports magazines also use Louisiana alone. It may take years for 'Louisiana' to catch on but perhaps in twenty or thirty years through common usage it will happen. It's happened for me.

  34. I doubt you have any interest in an explanation. If you did, you could watch or read thousands of comments supporting many views. I will ask you a question, how can you define a country without borders? The USA is a place in North American between Canada and Mexico. If it must be explained to you, that a undefined country cannot exist than I have nothing that is going to enlighten you. You can wakeup in El Paso and wonder not only what country your in as well as what state.

  36. I would be worried about losing him to a P-5 school, he is the real deal. If you did not go to any games last year please go this year. In one year he has already turned the program around and I believe it will continue. Onward and upward.

  37. Seriously. The process is expensive and it takes forever to get a result. Even for highly qualified immigration applicants, it can take years and mountains of paperwork.

  39. I like that he can stretch the floor. I believe that in today’s game a player like him is much more valuable than a traditional center that can only score in the paint. I think he fits the system McCasland is implementing.

  40. -- How can you trust anyone that lies constantly...?? -- So much for the Christian/Jewish commandment of " not bearing false witness". --- Being in education, it also bothers me that he constantly calls people "bully names" (Little Rubio etc.) like some immature kid. If the President can do it , does that mean every kid in school has permission to do it also without getting in trouble. ??? -- If you think so, then me calling him "Dishonest Donald" will not offend you. .This has nothing to do with which political party he is supposedly a member of ... just HIS character.

  41. you know what else is a major drain on our natural resources? far, far more than illegal-immigrant children? not-illegal-immigrant children. if we're really concerned for our natural resources, I'm assuming those are also advocating strongly for pro-choice legislation, or at the least funding for strong contraception education and distribution.
