  1. This happened last month, but I didn't see anything posted about it already. Great to see him doing this well!

  2. It’s all relative. Which is different than Arkansas where they are all relatives.

  4. Visitor seating location is pretty much SOP throughout college football, in my experience. Look where OUR visitors sit. My advice (you didn't ask but I'm giving it) is to buy your ticket from the Athletic Department. If you don't, you'll end up surrounded by Hogs who will be pissed when we win...and you will be boared throughout the game. As others have said, it is a lot more fun when you are surrounded by Green.

  5. I wouldnt sit in enemy territory if I were you. My in-laws are all Razorback fans and have been to a couple games at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock and they are rowdy individuals. You think UTSA fans are bad, UA fans make UTSA fans look like choir boys.

  6. When tickets re purchased through the NT ticket office, NT gets credit for the number of tickets sold. I'd like to think that somebody in Hawg Land would look at the number of tickets sold at North Texas and think, "those fans in Denton are serious. Maybe we ought to do a home-and-home with North Texas sometime." Buy road tickets at North Texas. GO MEAN GREEN

  8. I'm pumped to see so many on here making the trip. This will be my first out of town trip since we opened at TU in austin a few years back. Hoping this is a much better outcome. I'll wait for the AD to release the tickets so at least my $$ goes to the school.

  9. My folks live in arkansas about 40 min north of fayetteville. Dad bought me and him tickets last week, no clue where we are sitting but who cares! it will be fun to wear green in that sea of red

  10. Been monitoring North Texas chat rooms for a long long time. I dont post much anymore yet this deserves one. Always respected Johnny Jones. Anyhow, a few months back just before the end of the BBall season I was at a restaurant in Santa Clara. Johnny and the Nevada came through the door. As I walked by him I stopped to say hello. He stopped and spoke to me for at least 10 minutes .. asking me my name, when I was at North Texas, etc. Went out of his way to say hello and talk. Great guy and I wish him all the best. We all have jobs. But sometimes you meet somebody who respects the job and the relationships ... something we don't see enough. Johnny is always calm, collected and respectful ... and he put NT on the map for a while :)

  12. Starts out with Jeff Wilson's most underrated play from last year a, 2 yard loss. Easy to forget how different this season would have looked with a bad loss to So. Miss. http://www.meangreensports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/062718aaa.html

  14. Haha! And people here think kids know/care about the SWC traditions. Maybe, as long as they grew up in a house where the family has the SWC plastered on the walls. Otherwise, kids only know the last 2-4 years.

  17. I looked online at pictures of the view from the visitors section. Didn’t look very good imo. I would rather spend a little extra and have a better view (mid-field).

  19. I am with other people on here... sit with UNT people. Yeah, its in the corner of the field. But we will be a much better force sitting together vs sprinkled throughout the stadium _______ Also, I wonder if the university will offer any kind of road trip package for students to get a bus ride to the game. Would be pretty sweet!

  29. There is another aspect to scattering out...actually two. The Athletic Department gets revenue from the tickets sold that come from their allotment from the University of Arkansas. So if you buy elsewhere, UNT gets nothing. Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, a few people sitting in the designated sections reflects poorly on our following the Mean Green. Both the team and Arkansas fans eyes are drawn to our seating area and if they see very few fans sitting there they would tend to believe that there was little interest in the matchup. Pockets of green scattered throughout that large stadium doesn't register as being very many. I remember reading once that someone posted that SMU only brought about a hundred fans to Fouts for a game against us. In reality they had more than a thousand supporters but they were scattered throughout the stadium. Now I don't know how many supporters follow the Mustangs but the perception is probably even worse than the actuality. That perception could apply to our game with Arkansas.

  30. FYI, Joe Stevenson (#10 on your program) was on the team from 77-80. He started a couple of games in 79 when Jordan Case's congenital back problem kept him from playing. He started the whole 1980 season. His first start in 80 was the opening of the (then) new UTA stadium......which he totally ruined for them. Until last year, and this year, I always thought that the 79 season where Jordan Case was the starter and Joe Stevenson was the back-up was the best one-two QB situation we ever had.

  37. History literally means nothing in this context. I mean no disrespect but I absolutely never have understood the "well, we didn't do good last time, so that means we won't do good this time." insecurity. Why? There's no rules that we have to be bad in San Antonio. We lost by 7 in 2014 and 14 in 2016. Neither game was unwinnable. 0-2 is not any reason to consider beating them at their place to be "unrealistic", especially in college football where players and coaches change in the blink of an eye. Both teams are completely overhauled from where they were in 2016. I understand the hesitance, but it's not like the Alamodome is some extreme home field advantage. Roadkill on the horizon.

  39. Blakeley, I believe offered Spud out of high school, but I don't think he had the academics. Blakeley also recruited him out of juco, and then was replaced by Newman who didn't want Webb. Webb was not highly recruited out of juco and it was surprising when he signed with North Carolina. i couldn't believe Newman was stupid enough to pass on Spud. It is not like Newman's recruiting was any good and if nothing else Webb would have been a draw just to see a 5'7 player who could so easily dunk.

  44. 1,000 seats for track is totally ridicules! One advantage the football program enjoyed back in the 70's was hosting the UIL Boys Regional Track Meets. Prospects from all over North Texas would participate and have unofficial visits to NTSU; as most HS football players also participate in track. The home side of the press box was always full. This decision appears to be based on what the track program has looked like recently instead of what it can be. The NCAA Track championships are going on now in Eugene, OR. There are a number of smaller programs with the fastest times in the country. Why not UNT? Never been to a soccer game in my life and have zero interest. Next to football/basketball (equal interest) Track is and has always been my 3rd favorite sport.
