  1. Both. Army is a quality football program & a great academic institution. Liberty is neither.

  2. I can handle a whole offseason of this because for the first time in....(so long I can't remember) we have a playmaker at quarterback returning.

  3. Unfortunately, this song is being sung in many places in the US due to the current political climate, and a general propensity for people to take no responsibility for their actions, their actual jobs, or their treatment of others who hold different opinions.

  4. Actually, we do know, because it has been specifically said, multiple times by Littrell & Baker. Littrell & his staff did not like the Army matchup because it was hard on his team. It took them out of their rhythm, because each season, for a full week, they had to put the breaks on normal practices & practice for triple option... then you have that blocking scheme & dirty play getting our guys hurt... He wanted out of the series. Wren delivered with a VERY WINNABLE replacement. Some people don't like it because of Liberty's religious alignment. Who cares? It's a football game! That's it. End of story.

  7. Obviously JD has the confidence of a group that this board and the public in general does not. Which this board shouldn't. Makes sense. Also, JD obviously was able to share the information he did (cause it's a public friggin fan board). The conversation should just end there. If you feel entitled to more information, call the Athletic Department and ask. Not JD. jfc

  8. He would be an idiot to leak that kind of information if he knew, and it'd be disrespectful to any of the confidences he built. He'd be hard pressed to be told anything again. Translate the given information however you want to, but at it's most basic level (P5 or FCS or FBS) interest is better than no interest, which has been our recent history.

  9. We just moved to Heath so I took the fam to the Rockwall caravan. I've never been. It was really nice and I thought well done. Wren Baker, Coach Littrell, McCasland and Mitchell were all there. We had to leave a little early because the kids were a little hyper. (poor Scrappy) 😵 Coach McCasland came over and spoke with me and the kids for a bit. What a nice guy... Attendance was actually a little more than I expected in Rockwall...I'll bet the FW, Plano and Dallas events are very well attended. Good job Alumni group and Athletic Dept.

  10. When I realized how consistently dirty they play, especially Captain Cheapshot out there in the secondary, I was more than happy to let them off the schedule. I was kinda disappointed in their fans at Apogee as well. Maybe I'm just being idyllic, but I expected better.

  11. WE COME IN AT #4!! https://collegefootballnews.com/2018/04/daily-five-top-group-of-five-vs-power-five-upset-alerts/2 Call this the puncher’s chance game. Under new head man Chad Morris, can the Hogs manage to come up with more of a defense than his SMU teams cranked up? At the very least, his offense should throw the ball at will. But North Texas is dangerous, with a loaded offense returning, and nine starters back on defense including all four in the secondary. This is a Mean Green team that put up 497 points last season in a nine-win campaign, and now it’ll be even more dangerous. And Arkansas – coming off a road game at Colorado State – might be looking a wee bit ahead to the SEC opener at Auburn, followed up by a trip to Arlington to face Texas A&M, followed up by Alabama. Whatever the total is, go over, and assume this will be a wild and crazy 47-42ish game with about 800 passing yards and lots of big plays. And an experienced UNT team that won’t be fazed in any way by the SEC environment.

  13. 1. North Texas Mean Green Current Projected Starter: Mason Fine, Jr. Fine throws way too many interceptions, but he also threw for over 4,000 yards and should be among the nation’s top bombers. No. 2 man Quinn Shanbour is back, too, after getting in a little bit of work. https://collegefootballnews.com/2018/01/ranking-breakdown-of-all-130-pre-spring-quarterback-depth-charts/5

  14. If we are going to keep our program developing we need a RIVALRY. One that gets the attention of both the students and the alumni......and interested people in the community. GreyEagle can best address what our mindset was when we were in our last rivalry relationship with East Texas Texas State (A&M Commerce) back in the 40's. I don't know if we hated/disliked one another intensely , but there was a lot of back-and-forth and prank-playing going on between the two schools. At this point I couldn't clearly identify who I dislike most, ......SMU or UTSA. To me, UTSA is more of our true rival. And only because SMU is just not interested,.....and it takes two to tango. However, UTSA definitely wants to tango. Having said that, I believe that establishing a rivalry with La Tech would be to our benefit. This one might not be as intense, but it could develop into a big game between two well respected programs that look forward to the game every year. In other words, a friendly rivalry.

  16. Just take a gander here: http://www.espn.com/college-football/team/schedule/_/id/2335/year/2017 If we're a serious team, which I believe we are, do you think Liberty is a team that's going to beat us? We essentially have 2 FCS games this season. This game will count as an FBS game since Liberty is in transition... but they're still very much on the FCS level talent/ability-wise. Wins, wins, wins... doesn't matter who/where we get them from... just win games. Hello Boise model! PS. I know what some of you are thinking... We are a LOOOOOOOONG way away from Portland State. Do not bring up Portland State.

  17. I will reaffirm that Littrell and staff wanted out of the series as the practice changes plus the travel were very disruptive. Anyone remember how flat we looked after the Army game against UTSA in 2016? I do.

  20. @greenminer @MeanGreenTexan @Ben Gooding @BTG_Fan1 okay sorry guys I'm sure the source made the whole thing up. Seth hasn't received any calls or had any interest. He is only at North Texas still because nobody has came knocking. Does that work better for ya? I'll just stick to recruiting.
    2 points
  21. Can you confirm the offer didn't go something like this: Littrell's AGENT: "Hey Seth, the Arizona job is open. Want to interview there?" Because if a source says, "oh, he was offered an interview...", the above scenario would be truthful, but very misleading.

  22. It's pretty well documented, that while playing Army has been great from an entertainment perspective, it has been worse for the team. Having to prepare for an unconventional offense that no other team on our schedule runs, while also dealing with the injury concerns that linemen/LB's face with all the blocking schemes of a triple option attack. I'm also still really salty about that Guyton hit last year that apparently wasn't targeting. Seriously F*** that guy

  28. Politics and religion aside...Liberty is a winnable game, but they do not have the same name recognition nationally as Army does, that’s obvious. The most intriguing thing to me about Liberty is the amount of money they are spending on athletics. Their facilities are pretty damn good. They may be a power down the line so maybe it’s a good thing North Texas plays them while they are still building everything up.

  34. If I say no thanks to an interview, are you going to offer me a job? I get what he is saying, if one says that they are not interested in interviewing, it means that they would not accept an offer were it to come. I also see what you are saying in that there was no offer in hand that was turned down. I think that two different interpretations are at play here and no amount of discussion is likely to change anything.
    1 point
  35. No, because the job was not mine to claim. It was an interview. Most of us understand your verbage (from the original post) as an OFFER. Not an possible opportunity And, my experience has dictated that I do not go around flaunting all these job "OFFERS" when they were really some possibilities thrown my way. It's just tacky. Maybe in your experience it's okay, tho. :)

  36. You're allowed to think what you want, but when you say Surely you understand why most of us are going to think you're talking about job offers, and not just interviews?

  37. Question...are people more upset with ending the Army series or more upset that it was replaced with a series against Liberty?

  39. It was dumb. I don't hate getting out of the Army serious near as much as I hate traveling to Liberty, which is dumber. So, they just doubled down on the dumbness of this.

  40. We've already re-scheduled Liberty to replace the Army games. Nothing to reconsider, unless we're going to start a new home/home, which would not make any sense. If Littrell thinks it's detrimental to the team, I'll defer and agree. Who cares what the fans think, if it's bad for the team. If Littrell would rather play Liberty for the team's sake, let's play Liberty.

  43. P5. Not juco. If a school calls and ask you to come interview. And you say no I like it where I am at. That is turning it down in my opinion. You and other on the board may have to have a contract in hand to qualify it as turning it down.

  44. I'm just glad we have a guy like Kelvin Smith at right end...wherever that is.

  45. Remember...this is fairly balanced offense. And that comes from Littrell's desire to run the ball out of this spread. And it is effective. Littrell made that the structure of this offense, not Harrell. The next OC in here will run Littrell's offense too. I'm not knocking Harrell, he's done a great job with Fine and the offense but if If we lose Harrell after this year....I'm gonna guess the line would form to the left to come in here and coach Fine and all these skill players in their senior year. We'll be a desirable spot for a really good coach. And it's another feather in LIttrell's hat as a HC that his assistants continue to get promoted. Losing Harrell doesn't make me nervous one bit...
