  2. Not sure if you meant it this way, but being worried about his rating and his brother's recruiting doesn't come off too well in this situation. It doesn't matter if he is a walk on or just a student who has never entered the stadium, this is a sad thing that happens all too often for too many people. Depression is a powerful foe that far too many don't think they can talk about or get help with. We need to remove the stigma with it so more people can get help and this can be avoided in the future.

  3. There was 6,600 when I was a hall director when I left in 2012. I know of one dorm built since then that is pretty large so we have to at least be above 7,000. Then we have two more being built right now, yes?

  4. none that the athletic department ever paid for. Its called an "in kind" donation. And I meant nothing malicious about the crime in Tarrant County thing. I will admit I was out of line a few years ago, but so were you. I'll shout it from the mountain top. "I sell flooring!!!!!" Rah rah rah, sis boom bah..... SINGING GLORY TO THE GREEN, SINGING GLORY TO THE WHITE..... #itsallajoke btw....the basketball coach is pretty damn good, and quite entertaining to watch. You should sneak up and give it a chance.

  5. Ok let's review. RV schedule = bad. We have somewhere to start. Yes he scheduled out till my 40s, giving little wiggle room in *any* scheduling whatsoever. Baker shows up, unschedules things here and there to get Houston, Tech, and Cal at home. In one year Baker has rescheduled better than what RV handled at Apogee (2011 Indiana and Houston were scheduled before Apogee). So you blow off Houston (it's a good mid-major, and a better football program than many, so stop it), Tech (you'll be on medicaid by then), and Cal (it's unusual so it doesn't count?). Considering we were pretty much scheduled until the apocalypse, Baker's done fine rescheduling and shuffling things about. Could we get more higher tier programs at Apogee? Probably. Will we? We'll see, but obviously let's not wait long. Not showing evidence of being a scheduling genius doesn't make you a bad scheduler either, which is I guess the approach you're taking. I ask you this: Are these 2017 scheduling moves better than scheduling moves the 5 years before Baker?

  6. The biggest improvement any team or organization makes is going from awful to average. WB and Company has more than done this. And he should be commended for doing something in 2 years that the previous AD wasn’t close to achieving. But the next steps of becoming consistently good will be the deciding part of WB being an AD at a place higher up the food chain than being here. He has shown that the job isn’t too big for him. I suspect he will turn this into a hefty raise somewhere else in the years ahead.

  7. I really don't want to engage in some prolonged discussion on this so I this will be my last post on this matter. The information is relevant and beneficial to further research. As a parent I would I would want to know. Finally I don't know you or your professional background or experience, so none of this is intended to be personal, but let me note that I have in my profession been required to make decisions on the impact of concussions on individual conduct and I am not throwing wild speculation out there.

  8. FYI, I do believe you can order online from grocery stores around town, and have Uber pick them up and bring them to you.

  9. You must be just a horrible person to be around. Since you seem to lack the emotional maturity to have a productive discussion and are allowing your blind partisan hatred to drive your continued ad hominem attacks I see no benefit in continuing to address you.

  10. Midland has gotten several people from Myanmar (Burma) .... one ethic group there is having a terrible time and being killed off. Several churches here are helping them and supporting them at the beginning. .... Again they are taking jobs most people don't want and the best may be stocking grocery shelves at night. ( see some as custodial positions too) --- Unemployment here is 2.6% and that is a job hard to fill..... too few people want those hours and maybe not the pay. ---- Immigrants usually happen because of two big reasons. ..... one is political/racial as is above (Burma) and with the Vietnamese earlier and the other is terrible living conditions as the Irish were facing and lack of food even. That is also true of many from Mexico... bad conditions and in some cases trying to avoid lawless drug gangs. ------ California (and more) has had serious problems getting grapes and other crops in ..... due to lack of Mexican labor coming over at harvest time.

  11. Just Bc you were a good player doesn’t mean you’re a good coach. Not saying that is the case, but it’s so true.

  14. Agreed. It is logically-specious to imply causal relations between broad macro-economic phenomena and a specific voting record in a single election. Unless you mean to imply that the entire homeless population here has been created in the last year and not indicative of larger, longer social trends that go beyond something as arbitrary as a county line. There has long been great income-inequality in California, and coastal cities endure large homeless populations because the weather is so mild year-round (a joke we tell out here: "What's the easiest job in America? Meteorologist in San Diego. Just memorize 'There'll be a high of 74 today and a low of 60 tonight.' Repeat 365 times each year."). Or do you believe that Orange County is more liberal, right now at this moment, than other counties in California that do not have this type of homeless population?

  15. Chris Thornton on defense, Siggers/White on offense since both will be rotational players.. Sleeper of the group that could surprise is Jordan Roberts. Id like to see RJ Reynolds even get a try at the Jack as a pass-rusher. He is a bit heavier than Wheeler and Thornton, but his tape at Grapevine Faith he was an explosive pass rusher. @Harry a few of the guys listed played and didn’t RS.. Cam Johnson, M. Sanders, C.Howard (for 1 game vs UAB I think), Novil and Tony K..

  16. There is currently only room for 6,000 students to live on campus. If we want to see more student involvement at home games North Texas needs to expand the student population that stays on campus. The construction is a pain but it’s great for the university in the long run.

  17. Remember when the Irish were the poor & uneducated people that we took in? They did the hard, dirty work that Americans didn't want to do. Now people of Irish ancestry are simply part of American society. Today, in my own part of Texas, Sudanese are coming & doing the work that others don't want to do (e.g., working in the slaughterhouses). It's dirty but necessary work. Their children are going to our schools and will be integrated into our society. We need those poor & uneducated people & we best hope they always want to come to America.

  19. Nice. Run to the defense of someone that is currently contributing nothing to this program over someone that is active. Its very UNT of you.

  20. But you aren’t currently, are you? No you aren’t. I am. So maybe you should stop demanding things from people that are currently doing more for UNT athletics than you are. You can demand answers when I comment about your family’s scholarship fund... Some people are doers, others are watchers.

  24. Probably not, but I gotta think Baker's basketball coaching connections are very wide (himself being an Eddie Sutton disciple), and he could have found another guy that would be a good coach as well. Who knows the real reasons why he kept Benford (the fake reason of poor team morale was a joke). Probably money-related. We like McCasland because of what he's done here, and because he's ours, but I doubt he's the only guy that could turn around this team. It was a tough season to endure (very obvious lame duck year), and McCasland appears to be the real deal, so water under the bridge now, I suppose.

  25. Fun hypothetical: if The Wren fires Benford immediately, do we never get McCasland?

  26. How we ever had this many of our student athletes named Conference Player of the Week in one school year? I don't have the count off the top of my head, but I don't ever remember this many at this point in the year. Between football, soccer, volleyball and now both basketball teams, I would guess this is a record.

  27. If it's anything like the facebook livestream game that had a live comment feed next to the game, we're one **** pic away from it being a bad idea. I get that they want engagement from the fans, but you gotta be careful. Nevermind, completely misinterpreted this. For some reason I thought they were going to be some sort of broadcasting partner for CUSA.

  34. I dont know where the work that americans wont do crap comes from. I worked as some pretty bad jobs in my lifetime. I did them because I had a wife and child to take care off. My father always told me that no one is to good for job, they just some think they are. My father worked as Janitor and my mother was sales clerk in retail store.

  35. TCUs attendance was just fine for the level they were playing at, the upper non-P5s. Once they started winning and getting ranked, they got good numbers for home games against the MWC teams they played between 2006 and 2012. Specifically, I remember games they hosed against Utah and BYU being sellouts toward the middle and end of their MWC run, while really good crowds showed up for games against Air Force, Colorado State, and San Diego State after they began finishing ranked at the end of seasons. Ft. Worth is like most every other city in the country. They like sports and want to have something to take pride in for their city. TCU gives them this--in part because the city WANTS it. If any of you believe Denton feels this way about sports, especially UNT sports, you are just denying history. Sure, there are some citizens that do, but if Denton truly liked our football team, we would have had multiple sellouts at Apogee since it seats over 30k. We haven't had even one. Denton folk predominantly like eclectic art and music. They like nature and science. They like being close to DFW to go down there to be entertained. But they either don't care about UNT sports enough to support it or they absolutely loathe its existence. Its just how different Denton is from every other city with a FBS school in it, at least in this region of the country. And as I've gotten older, I have come to realize that there is nothing wrong with Denton's sentiment toward UNT athletics--its just different than anywhere else. A great example is from the other night's home basketball game where an older man screamed profanities at a fan for doing something unbelievable in front of him with a minute or less to go in a tight game--the fan in front had the audacity to stand in front of him and cheer on our team in a close finish. I can tell you that this ain't happening in any other college arena in this region of the country,

  38. At least Obama was a Senator from Illinois who knew how politics worked. I think; actually, I HOPE, we're all learning a valuable lesson over these past 2 years: Just because a dude isn't a politician doesn't mean he's a better option than a politician. Everyone who loved/loves this guy, loved/loves him because he's a political "outsider", and doesn't think like a politician. Well, unfortunately, that also comes with a general lack of thinking before speaking.

  40. What are the yellow/premium cash lots over by the softball stadium? I see those pulling into the red/blue lot on Bonnie Brae. As to red/blue, I can never figure out from year to year if I'm able to enter from North Texas Blvd. like I did in 2011. Sometimes it seems to be open, other times I seem to get a little bit of a talking too from people in yellow jackets. So unknowing as to whether I can enter from North Texas Blvd. from week to week, and having to drive down Bonnie Brae is the one inconvenience I face as it is a merely a two lane road, and I have to sit in line behind people who pull up thinking it's a cash lot, wait for them to figure out it isn't, wait for them to receive directions back to the cash lots, then wait for them to back up and turn around against traffic. That one thing really needs some serious improvement. As for opening red/blue lot to cash, people better be paying more than $25 to park there or I'm gonna get a little miffed.

  43. Right, because you will settle for one year of success without looking long term. I don’t care about basketball anymore. That’s pretty well documented, so that program doesn’t figure into any of my comments. You wanna pretend this looks nothing like 2013, go ahead. I won’t. Because it does. A lot.

  44. I guess you missed that whole first paragraph.... I like being cirtical about the athletics program as much as the next poster, but at this point, you're just beating your chest and screaming about how great you/your ideas are and how terrible everything else is. IF they just did what I told them to do. IF they just donated what I donate. IF they only cared the way I care. You'd complain if you were hung with a new rope.
