  1. About the same number as after the KFC win. ST said the blame for the FSU loss was shared by everyone. The "man in the mirror" as he referred. Dave Barnett got a new "stylized eagle" cap and Turner Smiley and Jordan Murray were player guests. Both players are smarter than the average bear. Lots of fans. Lots of fun.

  7. My son was given two tickets to Homecoming against UTEP, but we won't be able to make it. :( We're hoping to be able to drive out for the Army game, and it's a 15 hour drive for us. We were really impressed with the tickets, though, and wish we didn't live so far away.

  9. Its really been an interesting dichotomy here. Under Dickey and McCarney, our best teams we've had as a FBS program again (since 1995) had hard-hitting defenses and solid special teams, but our offenses were as vanilla as it gets, to the point that if you didn't have an awesome defense, we would win between 1 and 3 games a year. Then, under Dodge and Littrell, our offenses can put up some serious numbers but the defense cannot stop anyone with a pulse at QB. Patterson's teams can do both. But nobody else in this state has shown they can do both, year in and year out. Everyone talks about Saban, Dabo, and Urban Meyer as the best coaches in the country, but Gary Patterson is right there with them, in my mind, along with Chris Petersen.

  10. A high of 60 degrees this Saturday in Denton, Texas, America according to Siri on my Apple 7+ iphone. Damn! That woman is smart! Granted, hours after the game is over it will get much cooler. GAME DAY MEAN GREEN BLACKOUT FASHION WEAR In the spirit of the dress code for this game, I just bought a black sweatshirt at Walmart ($8 + tax) & have a nice black short sleeve Nike nylon shirt with "North Texas Mean Green" in almost fluorescent lime green on it which I will wear over the sweat shirt. I'm getting pumped for what we will all witness with the newMeanGreen of the newDenton GMG!

  11. UNT has rarely fared successful with the NCAA on such matters. I think if he's close to 100% for the La Tech game he should play because we will certainly need him for our bowl. Is it possible we get a better bowl game if we weren't Division champion? We shoot for that honor but golly what if they sent us to the Bahama's as West Division Champion? TCU's Amon Carter Stadium would look very nice filled with Mean Green fans. Filled? We know we get a total different fan base for North Texas bowl games per the HOD Bowl Game in 2013 & 2016. I am still impressed with the record-setting numbers of Mean Green fans for both of those bowls even as they were held on a week day to boot! GMG!

  13. Photo taken this AM by a Pulitzer Prize winning photographer who has a UNT degree.("not" on the Pulitzer Prize part) This is my Mean Green blackout wardrobe for the ODU game. It should be quite a fashion parade at Apogee this Saturday (I jest) 🙄 coupled with kids 8 & under who get in "FREE" if they wear a Halloween costume. If your still reading this you must be bored but............I went to Walmart this AM, bought an XL black FOTL sweat shirt for about $8. I already had the short sleeve Mean Green Nike nylon shirt and will wear it over my black sweatshirt. Pretty clever, I know. LOL! The Cap? That's my DJ business baseball cap but I'll try to have a black Mean Green baseball cap by Game Time! Yes, Hank. Jr.! I'm ready for some football! BEAT THE HELL OUT OF ODU!

  14. I have followed this team since 1989 and no, my fandom has never wavered. Pardon me for not being sympathetic. I have watched many embarrassing loses to teams big and small. If you want to jump ship, be my guest. Recently however, we have seen good things happen as a result of humiliating loses. Portland State brought about a positive change at the HC position and indirectly a change with a new AD. Great things have happened because the fans/alumni who stuck it out, demanded change, which we got. UNT is poised to go higher than we ever thought possible under this Administration. So, if snowflakes want to bail after one loss and find comfort in the big programs, and have their mommy's bring them cookies and milk before they go to bed, then have at it. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. I have no patience with those who haven't the stomach for the fight. See you Saturday night in black. GO MEAN GREEN! Beat the hell outta ODU!

  23. I want to hear "Lane Kiffin and Kid Briles kicked my ass" -- I suppose he hinted at that with the "our jobs as coaches to put them in the right spot". Still doesn't square with me to have had a great week of practice but it not carry through the game. Seems like they simply weren't prepared for what FAU had for them. I thought the reactions after they began to get blown out were bad -- trying to strip the ball instead of wrapping up, etc.

  28. SAVE THE DATE...this year's version of the UNT CHEER SCHOLARSHIP BASKETBALL GAME WILL BE PLAYED ON APRIL 14th of 2018. The even better news is, that after several years of trying, we have secured the Ken Bahnsen Gym...yes...the OLD MEN's GYM on W. Highland Street (just across W. Highland from the Super Pit... as our venue! Yes, Sir! A real basketball gym for the first time in what will be our 8th year! So, let's do this one up right....let's make it a special day and help these great student-athletes with some scholarship funds. Put the date on your calendars NOW so you can play...get your friends to come out and play or just come out and enjoy the fun, bid on a silent auction item or two, etc., etc. Besides players (and yes, this remains a co-ed event...so ladies????), the biggest need we have is actually getting folks to come watch and be part of the event. The more "fans" we have, the better we do with concessions and with the silent auction and with the 50/50 half-time shot hoop-la. Also...looking for sponsors for this year's event as well. If you know a business or an individual looking to help fund student-athlete scholarships, please let me know. I would be happy to chat with them. So, that's it for the early news. Save that date...APRIL 14th...and let's make this new venue rock!

  31. Those two things for me., particularly the second one. But to be perfectly honest, while I believe part of this was game planing, part was effort, I still also believe the biggest part of this is the recruiting when it comes to the defensive front seven. FAU simply has better talent there, and I think it just hasn't been a priority so far for SL and it shows. Since English isn't playing, at this point I think each and every DL and LB in FAUs starting lineup is better than anyone UNTs got.

  42. Very specific, but that falls under number 4. It sounds like you just really get irked by playing key guys in blowouts and risking them getting injured when the game has already been decided. That's valid. It just seems to me like many in here are frustrated at the game and are looking at anything to be upset about. I think Littrell deemed it more important long term, both the rest of this season and beyond, to get Fine more reps and maybe even trying to get him in a groove to regain some offensive momentum heading into next week. I think it worked about as well as we could've hoped. Given that Fine and the offense closed out the game decently, I just think there are a lot more places to direct one's ire at then saying that Fine COULD have been hurt by staying in. Hopefully our offense and Fine got back on track at the end and can parlay that into next week before the game is out of hand.
