What ever happened to the good ole days when our coaches left for high school jobs?9 points
-
Women win too, doing what a decent team should do to FAU: dominate (79-57). That is now two wins in a row, now 5-6 in conference and starting to look fairly ggod for making the conference tournament, maybe even an okish seed.6 points
-
Happy for the players. Since at this point Benford is not gonna get fired or extended, we may as well root for the players to have a few happy moments and make UNT look less bad.6 points

This proves Seth can not only find talent on the field. But also in the coaching ranks6 points

Happy for the players. Reese had a great second half. Another good game for Tamara. Solid game by freshmen: Lawson and Woolridge.4 points

Good game, NT 61-57 with a little over 3 minutes to go. Happy days are here again. First conference win.4 points

My top choice to replace him would be Everett Todd. He was Troy Reffett's DL coach at ULM. Now the DC/DL coach at Grambling http://www.gsutigers.com/coaches.aspx?rc=1744 points

And 3 Power 5 Bowl teams at that. I think this should be def viewed as a positive for Seth4 points

Holy crap! It's February 8, and I just renewed my 2017 MGC membership AND my 2017 football tickets. It took maybe three minutes! Now THAT'S that improvement I've been looking for! Also, maybe a new feature or something I didn't notice before, but they have monthly payment plans now that wrap your MGC membership and tickets into one price, and let you pay out over 3, 4, 5, or 6 months (I think that's what it was). I didn't do that because I just paid with my tax refund, so I don't know if there's extra cost embedded in that, but it's a nice option nonetheless. Good job, ticket office! Keep up the operational improvements @TheWren™!3 points

if that happens... we should all try to violate NCAA violations with regards to the basketball program... then at least someone would put an end to this period of 'basketball'.3 points

Dominate? I attended the game, and while the final score appears that UNT dominated they actually did no such thing...the game was definitely in doubt at half (3-5 point lead for UNT) and it wasn't under control until the last 2/3rds of the 4th quarter. Way way too many turnovers and some early poor shooting by UNT allowed a pretty poor FAU team to hang around. Now, that being said...this Jalie Mitchell team never quits and never seems out of a game...even when playing a tad poorly early. They just hang in and find a way to win. A sign of a good team is one that beats a team they should beat even when playing not up to the top of their game. This was tonight and may have been a bit expected...playing a team with a bottom feeder record when coming off a big comeback road win in their last game. So, yes, you are exactly right...they did what they should have done...but, dominate...not so much. I think we might just see that dominate win by the ladies Saturday over FIU. Ladies seem to be getting it together, in spite of some injury issues, just at the right time as the conference tourney looms. Ladies looking good to make the tournament any be the team that no other team really wants to play. Congrats to both the women and men tonight. Light that tower double green!3 points

The only positive that I can see about playing or having a scrimmage at The Star would be that it would attract people who go to the event just to see the facility. We might expose some people to North Texas football who otherwise would not ever see a scrimmage or a game.3 points

Rare night, both teams win. Girls 79-58 over FAU. FAU winless in conference, but NT men showed that can be changed. Aside, really like the NT WBB radio team; big improvement.3 points

Should UNT come away with a win over FAU, our first conference win this season, should we give Benford another extension?3 points

The question is not whether any of us would go to a Spring Game in Frisco. We already support the program, buy tickets, and attend the games in Denton. Basically they have our money. The question is whether or not by showcasing our team in a venue in a major market would we generate interest, attendance, and increase ticket sales,I don't know the answer, but you have to be willing to try something different if what you are doing isn't working. Its either grow or go.3 points

Do we still have a coach on the payroll that has experience coaching the DLine?3 points

I look at it this way. The folks that really know college football; not any of the rating guys, but coaches, AD's and the like; know what a great job UNT did putting a valid team on the field and what a great job the coaches did with what we had to play with last year. Not a knock on the players, but going from where we were, the where we ended up, must have been a lot better than we thought.....3 points

All these coach changes makes me wonder how this impacted recruiting. Not that they told incoming players or not... but moreso, if you are on your way out and know it.... are you really likely to put your best food forward and fight for those kids for a job you aren't about to be in. It all just makes me wonder...3 points

Oh, so NOW he's not happy? Too little too late from the so-called "Godfather" of the basketball program. The blood of our once proud basketball program is on his hands as he and his good buddy RV supported Benford long after the vast majority of us realized on 11/12/12 that he wasn't the man for the job. It didn't have to be this way, Benford should have been fired long ago, but Ernie's support played a huge role in him being here 5 years. The issue isn't a lack of money, the issue is the unconditional support Benford received from the power brokers within the athletic department.2 points

NT played very good first half, lead 35-24. Good half by Tamara and Woolridge. Of course, NT has played well in a lot of first halves, and than crumble in the second.2 points

Since we beat dead horses here, I'll continue to beat one that should be dead. No P5 school would have let a Benford level MBB coach hang around for 5 seasons. The point being is that UNT doesn't seem to really care about athletic success (or even lack of failure) all that much. It hasn't for as long as I've known about the school after I moved to Denton in '98. There are some P5 schools that have gone through similar episodes of apathy towards athletic success (looking at you Northwestern), but on the whole none of those schools tolerate such abject failure. I've heard a refrain of 'this time is different' multiple times since I moved to the area and even after I finally became a fan. Each of those times turned out that it really wasn't different. There's no real evidence this time will be different. There is a fair amount of belief, but little to no evidence. Its one thing to think that UNT should starting acting like a P5, but quite another for that culture change (s/o to @SilverEagle) to actually happen across a broader spectrum.2 points

Not sure that we could afford what it would take to keep a guy from getting poached by a P5. It isn't even just the money, it is also the step up in career and opportunity.2 points

Not a great experience here....Called to renew my seats I've had since the stadium opened and they gave my seats away to someone else. I told them they needed to figure it out and I was promised a call back by EOD. Looks like the ticket office closes at 5pm and I never received a call back!2 points

UNT is school that needs to invest into Sports... Additional, having UNT come to these areas will serve as a recruitment tool for the school as well. Tech is bringing admin staff to talk to people, along with admissions personal... The costs of practicing at the star and that should be something the school gets in the deal.. UNT can opt out of the deal with the Cowboys.. I'm sure the cowboys would be more than willing to open up the Star if it mean Jerry got another 1 or 2 million from UNT... And even if it doesn't lead to people going from a remote site to denton, it leads to interest in UNT. It gives us the chance to show to players and coaches the perks and some of the advantages of UNT... People keep saying show off the campus, why not show off the Frisco campus which the school is trying to get more interest in. Its not a major waste of time or anything, because these places are only a bus ride away... UNT has to stop thinking inside of the box and think outside of it.. Michigan did spring camp over spring break in FL last year, and this year they are going to Italy.. UNT has to find ways for it to stand out, heck some students in denton have no idea about the Frisco campus... UNT has to find ways to show off, and most likely during the Spring/Fall time we won't have the facilities built up to have something to brag about... We still have no idea about the IPF, all we know is it's going to built but no idea where/when/ or anything else... Also, with us doing these remote sites, you can extend offers to kids for summer camps, scholarships, heck even make these stops for the Caravan thing WB posted about on Twitter...2 points
