  2. Not necessarily on this issue, but: THIS! The whole "you will be punishing kids who weren't there" is a crap argument. The NCAA would be punishing THE INSTITUTION!

  3. So they advertise "sex", black or white, to recruits at Baylor. Do they still have that "no dancing, no drinking policy" at Baylor? You know, that Baptist thingy. Note: Not trying to upset the Baptists on this board.

  4. This is awesome, truly shows how lazy RV was with scheduling when Wren does this in a few months.

  5. I would be happiest if they shut the whole Baylor thing down. Not just the athletics; the whole thing.

  6. Here is a recent response from WB when I inquired about the IPF:

  7. well you can keep the recruits and keep benford, or lose benford and possibly lose the recruits. Time has shown even with good recruits we can't win with our coach, I say roll the dice.

  8. My comments weren't directed toward this particular situation. But when it comes to Pedo St. and the massive cover up perpetrated by THE INSTITUTION, that institution should have been given the death penalty. Instead they were given nothing and suffered zero consequences. The rich rarely do

  11. Why do we make excuses for the other team? I don't remember others making excuses for us when we had QBs dropping like flies. You play with what you have when the game is scheduled.

  12. Except for the Army rematch, we were never in the games we lost. Above average is a good grade in my opinion.

  13. By pretty much tearing it all down to the foundation and rebuilding the entire structure of how college football works. Which nobody wants to even talk about, let alone actually do. Too much money involved and connected to too many people and too much money to be made off of all of it, all on the backs of a bunch of 18-22 year olds. And too many grown-ass adults with too much money who want to glorify and perpetuate jock culture that they're either long past or never got to be a part of to begin with. Here's an idea to rein in a lot of problems: Don't let athletes live off campus. Too many times have I heard of crap going down at some athlete's apartment of a house where a bunch of them live together. If they're in a dorm and have a curfew it narrows down the chances for someone to act like an idiot. I don't care if you're a senior. Let college athletes have friggin' part time jobs if they want! UNT kids stealin' TV's because they're bored, TCU kids dealin' pot because they couldn't afford gas money. How many countless times have we heard stories about athletes who couldn't afford to travel home over the winter break. And I mean like driving from Denton to Houston. Or kids who couldn't afford to eat on the weekends. It'll also set athletes up for after graduation: a lot of guys never have a real job in high school because of the protectionism people lay on high school athletes and then they're forbidden from having a job in college. That's eight years of work experience they've misses out on.

  14. We are now keeping track of how many games UNT is out of 3 from last in conference. Remember these glory days!!!

  16. I know what I'm doing for my 30th birthday! But seriously, I can't wait for the crowd of 80,000 on hand to watch North Texas whip Tech's ass at the then-recently expanded Apogee Stadium.

  17. It sounds like we are fast approaching Penn State territory. Maybe worse even. At some point the exact facts will cease to be important, bcause when the perception gets too bad, nobody can stomach the exact details anymore anyway.

  18. Not sure about drinking or dancing, but it would appear that they certainly have a no morals policy.

  19. If NCAA doesn't do anything... how can we not expect a new culture of this from football programs?

  20. Any school that allows its athletes to conduct itself in this manor, or any institution with any age, skill and occupation of human being deserves to have the hammer dropped. If it were UNT mark my words I'd advocate we're punished to the fullest extent.

  21. NCAA has to come down on this... right? Baylor is the perfect school to 'make an example' out of.

  22. First sellout in 2027?? All joking aside, this is why you hired the man, & he followed through.. Excited to welcome in some P5 competition to Apogee.. Hope this is the first of many!

  23. But I thought regional P5 teams would never come play UNT at home...

  24. UNT commit Zack Simmons posted a Triple Double 17pts 23rebs 10blks in Cedar Hill win over Duncanville last night. Have watched him progress throughout the season. (Still has work to do) I have monitored TVCC's Amaad Wainwright's stats all year, including 45 in a 3 OT win earlier this season. I plan to watch him for the 1st time against Navarro later today in Corsicana. Wonder if the pending coaching change will affect their status with the program. By my count, there are at least 2 more scholarships to offer. Good start by the new staff.

  26. Random, but this week I listened to the peach basket episode where you guys discussed the then recently broken news of Tony Mitchell enrolling at North Texas. I hope the next hire is good and exciting enough to bring you and @Censored by Laurie out of retirement.

  27. Since we are down 3 at the half, that projects as a 23 point loss by the end.

  28. It's not the campus, it's the endless losing and bad management in sports at UNT. And BTW, I attended a wedding at TWU and was not impressed with the campus. Old and in need of a major facelift. The sidewalks were terrible and a lawsuit waiting to happen.

  29. According to the rankbyoffers.com site, Baylor is ranked 84th, the lowest of any P5 team.

  33. I think it's pretty clear I am. I'm just pointing out what needs to be addressed. People are on here saying they are afraid to play Tech. In 10 years. At Apogee. I mean, if that's your standard, why the F even follow this program?

  34. Punishing Baylor is one thing. But how do you change the system . . . as in, FBS football, particularly P5 football, across the board . . . so coaches and colleges aren't tempted to tolerate, much less promote, this kind of behavior?

  36. Maybe you don't understand that he gets paid the remainder of his contract whether he is fired or not? There is no downside for him or UNT. Just can his ass already.

  37. This is great. Yes it will take ten years, but it is still a great get. Better than anything RV ever got.

  38. This would be the case. S needs to be fixed. You can't start being AD in 2022 (on this particular subject). Fix the things that are fixable. The schedule is fixable.
    2 points
  39. I'm not blaming him for anything! God God! I'm Saying he was brought here to fix a huge mess. If he doesn't fix it, he isn't a pretty good hire. The existing schedule is part of that mess. Do you agree or not?

  40. Not sure if the NCAA can do much, but surely the Big 12 has bylaws that allow the other institutions to kick a school out of the club. Almost without exception, in the past when I have had an interaction with a Baylor grad, I always have a feeling afterwards that they were being sneaky and underhanded. I know I have just had an unusual experience and there are a lot of great alumni, but I have talked about it with my wife before due to how many similar experiences I have had. Frankly, I hope they victims sue them into bankruptcy. What a bunch of sleezeballs.

  42. is that crowd noise at a basketball game. I have heard the ball bouncing on the court while sitting at the top of the first level during a game at UNT. I have never had that happen before.

  43. Agree. That was a good, informative listen. Then again, back then they had something to talk about.

  44. I think the rules/bans/fines should be stuck like glue to the head coach, school. AD, and anyone willing to hire them before their sentence is served. Make the sanctions hit the coaches and follow them to new schools.
