  1. If you Google alec morris and alabama, theres a lot of positive things that come up and reason to be excited. Someone mentioned josh greer. He is no josh greer. He is unproven like greer was, but even being 3rd string at bama gives him much more than greer had, as only playing a few games of juco. Ok, morris couldn't start for the best championship winning, semi pro football program in the nation. Just to be in the running at least shows he belongs on a D1 football roster. And that is a huge improvement. Once you read what so called experts say about him, there's plenty to be excited about. But instead of being excited, we will have several discussions about the BACKUP!...really? The backup gets more discussion than Morris? Only at UNT... and for those that say "if our starter get hurt, our season is over"...half the teams in college football can say that. Of course your team will fall off if the starting QB goes down. Come on...

  4. I think that LB will be the most improved position this year. It will start with better coaching. Also, our most touted linebacker, Will Johnson, will be here for fall practice. We'll also have a highly rated freshman, Ladarius Hamilton reporting then as well . Finney seemed to improve with every game. Fred Scott has been a pretty solid player for the last two years. Brandon Garner is another player who began finding his role last year. Throw in Calvin Minor and maybe Montgomery; then add the possible development of newcomer Ejiya and we could have a very active group.

  14. Stealing a quote from the brilliant Dez Bryant... Has anyone else noticed/been driven insane by the loose and flapping in the wind access panel on top of the I35 Apogee video board?? For at least the past 6-7 months it has been flapping in the wind. Rain or shine snow or sleet it sits up there flapping looking like a broken piece of trash. How hard would it be to rent a bucket truck and send a maintenance man up there to tighten down the two or three screws??? Maybe I'm just too anal and I'm the only one who's noticed it but... COME'ON MAN

  16. TxDOT be Oprah-ing north Texas. You get a construction project, you get a construction project, and you get a construction project! Not to be the soon-to-be-dead messenger, but there will soon be more 35 construction between 380 and the northern loop 288. I think that starts in 2017.

  20. As I recall Scott Hall took at hit at practice and missed a few games because of it. I rather take my chances on the field during the season. I have no doubts in Morris and his talents. Look at our last year 1st string vs Morris who would you choose. Can someone remove greets face from the forum picture-time to move on.

  21. It is so hard to hold in excitement about Morris. Especially with your write up Harry. Time and time again we have been disappointed during the Mac regime with the QB situation. Here is to hoping we can get Vito to stop bringing up D. Thompson so often!

  22. That won't happen until that stupid Eagle statute in the end zone is replaced with a sweatervest statute that RV carved himself from a Hattiesburg Redbud tree and weatherproofed with the blood of Darrell Dickey's and Todd Dodge's coaching career.

  25. I'm not sure who was missing because there should have been 8 DEs and 6 DTs. The eight DEs are 30 (Roberts), 56 (Dilonga), 7 (Combs), 95 (Wheeler), 90 (T. Johnson), 50 (D. Smith), 90 (Ozougwu, and 99 (Flusche). There are six defensive tackles...44 (S. Moore), 15 (Tuaalo), 49 (Young), 98 (Wegmann), 93 (Combes), and 34 (English). I believe that the only ones not mentioned from various writeups were Dakota Smith, Tillman Johnson and Julius Combes. Unless there is a PWO this fall, all of the defensive line are eligible to participate in spring drills.

  26. I would do it but I can't stand watching non-HD content. We were without cable for about a year while our home was being built. We survived with a digital antennae and netflix. There was definitely some relief when we got back into FiOs after moving into our home.

  33. Quinn Shanbour looked stellar. Especially after a couple of series in which receivers kept dropping Morris' passes. That said the receiving corps in general look to be taking huge leaps already. The real concern that I had out of watching was the defensive line. We have thirteen names listed on the roster, but @North Texas Shep and I only observed seven working together in drills at a given time. Perhaps we missed where the other group was but it was odd nonetheless.

  38. This is a very nice series. I applaud RV for this. Memphis is a team higher up the food chain than we are and they are a recognized name. At this point, I just want higher end G5 names here for OOC opponents. I do wonder if this is due to the fact that SMU is really planning to drop the series with us (as predicted), but if not, SMU and Memphis are good teams to host here, just as long as they aren't paired with FCS spares. To me, this will go back to the fact that the P5 bodybag game almost requires a bought FCS game if you want 6 home games in a season. So, as fans we all have to decide how important is it to watch Incarnate Word and Abilene Christian come to Denton to play us for a 6th home game, with Army and SMU as the other OOC games or if it would be more wise, knowing that the P5 whore game will continue as long as possible, to have a season where you have 5 home games, but your 1 OOC game was against a better opponent, while the next season would feature two solid OOC opponents that gets you 6 home games. For example: @P5 Bodybag, @SMU, Army, @BYU (instead of FCS home game) + 8 CUSA games (4 home/4 away) @P5 bodybag, SMU, @Army, BYU (instead of FCS home game) + 8 CUSA games (4 home/4 away) @P5 bodybag, @SMU, Army, @ Memphis (instead of FCS home game) + 8 CUSA games @P5 bodybag, SMU, @Army, Memphis (instead of FCS home game) + * CUSA games If SMU doesn't buyout the series, take advantage of them being local and getting a 6th close game and not wasting money on paying a FCS team to come here and eat into the money you get from the P5 bodybag game. If SMU buys out the series, replace it with Texas State, to insure you have another Texas opponent that is FBS every year, if you want. Or just schedule more OOC series (meaning the AD cannot be lazy) that are home-and-home. Those FCS games are a complete waste of time, IMO. They don't help you learn anything about your team (see Nicholls State or Texas Southern), but leave open the possibility of getting an embarrassing loss (Portland State) that may cause more pain for your program. If playing a 6th home game every year means you getting to tailgate with your buddies before watching Lamar or Liberty or Butt Cookman play, I'm fairly confident in telling you that less than half of Apogee's filled seats suggests that the FCS opponent didn't provide you or the program with any value whatsoever. And in those years ahead, when CUSA sends us Eastern teams such as Charlotte, ODU, and F_U, with attendance being still under half of capacity, it might have been nice to have not played a FCS spare that you had to give hundreds of thousands to for the right to play us, but instead kept the cash to help with the budget for buyouts, facilities, and increased salaries for deserving coaches.

  39. Mic positioning. Brett was standing right over the mic; the wind was blowing between Coach Littrell and the mic. That said, the difference between his voice and Coach Mac's is night and day. At the end of the day.

  40. Sounds like 35E going into and through Denton. It's sort of a mess from Corinth north. No shoulders, uneven pavement, and turns that can be iffy if you (or the car ahead of you) isn't paying attention. There have been more than a fair share of accidents lately.

  42. I can hear Brett loud and clear over the wind. Litrell is almost non-existent, even without wind, because of how soft-spoken and monotonous he is. Maybe his voice is tired? I don't know.

  49. In my last two years in my former profession, we got sold to private equity. They imposed over three sales cycles, 47%, 89%, and 100% quota increases, each on top of the previous. Then they cut the production team, so the product we were tasked to sell literally didn't exist. Then they tried to make us sign a responsibility waiver that we would not hold the newly acquired company liable should we fail to quintuple our sales over three years with product that didn't exist. It was once a great job for a great company that I would've loved to be a great lifelong career. When I turned in my resignation, they begged me to stay. They offered me an immediate 20% increase in compensation. I refused. 12 months later, the entire sales force had been fired in favor of independent contracting free lancers that nobody had to actually pay. I suffered through a couple three years of dire poverty in grad school, and ultimately came out way ahead of the game because I knew when to fish and when to cut bait. Sometime the demands of the job are unrealistic and unattainable no matter the compensation or promises.
