  4. Easy Ben Ben. That was a pretty scathing indictment of RV by Vito as far as scheduling goes, and he put it #1 on the list. Do you really expect him to say "you suck, RV, and so does your schedule" when he has to deal with RV on a day to day basis? That ain't gonna happen. Everyone knows who is responsible for putting together the schedule. It's actually some of the most damning language I've seen Vito use in a while.

  6. If your interested in Boise check out how they succeed offensively. They finished 12-2 last year beating Arizona in the Fiesta. They outscored their opponents 39 points per game to 27. But they rushed 158 times more than they passed. How? By utilizing their weapons and spreading the ball around to their badasses in as many unique ways as the imagination can come up with. They had a 1900 yard RB who also finished as their third leading receiver. Their QB threw for 3700 yards but was also their second leading rusher with 790 yards. Their 4th leading receiver was a RS Soph Tightened. Their three TE's finished with over 500 yards combined and 4 TD's. Compare this to what NT does. Zero imagination with basic pistol formation constantly handing a committee of backs the ball 8 yards deep. Everyone knows who is getting the ball,..it's the RB that just came in. Poor QB developement in a two way system. He is either going to hand off in a delay or throw a short out route. Rarely stretches the field. Pitiful utilization of the Tightend. Marcus Smith is easily one of our BADASSES. What did we do with him last year? We threw to him a rediculous 15 times, 6 of those were for scores. If you got a guy that scores one out of every three times you throw him the ball wouldn't that be an indication he needs it more than 15 a season? This tracks along a history with this staff of underutilizing/under evaluation of talent. Remember in '11 when Mac and crew couldn't find a place on the field for last year's Oakland Raiders Man Of The Year recipient Jamize Olawale. Rick

  7. IMO Boise State only is able to be consistently in the hunt as a G5 ground and pound team because they first built their program up to a destination one and perennial winner by throwing the ball like crazy. They established themselves in the early 2000s with a high-octane offense led by QBs like Ryan Dinwiddie and Jared Zabransky. Now they've had so much success for so long that they recruit on a level above all other G5 programs. They can land P5-caliber lineman and play like a P5 school because they're getting those players. If we could have prolonged success then maybe we could do that. But I think we need to do that first.

  8. We won't ever be able to duplicate a Boise St. model just being a ground & pound team with a good D. We won't ever be noticed. We have to figure out a way to balance our offense and put up 35 to 40 points a game. We won't ever grow this program to the level so many want by being a team who wins close low scoring games. Sure we can go to bowl games and have a shot at winning CUSA, but our ceiling will be limited.

  10. The flag had to come down from the state house because it's supposed to be a representative government. I also think the states who have it incorporated into the state flag need to remove it. But if Jim Bob wants to fly it on his pickup, let him. I believe the monuments should stay as long as there is a tie to local history. The memorial on the square is a perfect example. Put up another monument / signage discussing why some people disagree with the symbolism. Or, put up a monument to Union soldiers, thousands of Texans served in the Union army. However, is there is no clear local connection (Jefferson Davis statue at UT, Robert E. Lee park here in Dallas) I would rather they remain, but I don't have a huge issue with them being removed. Or, put up a monument to all soldiers, or to groups that had been ignored. 10,000 Texans of Mexican heritage served in both armies, but there isn't a monument to them. ----- (I really hate that the board now merges posts if you post back to back) ----- You really aren't understanding the mindset of Americans of that age. Thinking of yourself as an American first, before your statehood is really a post Civil War mindset, brought out by the war itself. Yes the Union was a powerful part of their lives, to be respected and greatly admired, but it was a Union between sovereign states.

  11. Akunne tweeted UNT new unis and a GIF of someone projectile vomiting like they've had waaaaaaaaaay to much to drink and I counted 3 current players who favorited it. Why in the hell don't you grab your seniors bring them in show em 8-10 ideas and let em pick? They could have picked better looking unis blind. Kids look good, they feel good, then they play good. Something about the mind set helps, if you don't believe me, you don't know the kids we bring in.

  12. I knew it was too quiet. Nobody is proud of them, nor should they be. Even Capper only posted a pic of the helmet. Let's just keep the helmet and wear last year's.

  13. I'm not impressed. It isn't that it's a bad looking uniform, it just isn't special. Several universities will be wearing this same design, just in their school's colors. Appy State's are just like these but in their colors. That's not cool. I would have rather keep last season's uniforms. At least ours would be different. I certainly would not have made a video just to unveil the same uniforms other schools are wearing. I like the green helmet with the SOW on it. We should wear it every week. We need to build some brand recognition.

  16. Unless my eyes are deceiving me these aren't pro combats. Is there a reason we don't buy Nike's top of the line uniforms? And don't tell me it's about price because a lot of high schools wear them now.

  24. Well, Thing 1 and Thing 2 had something negative to say about the AD.... color me shocked. All of Vito's points are valid, although I don't worry that much about some of them. The offensive line really doesn't concern me much,. I think we will be at least as good up front as we were last year, maybe better. (but I don't think they played that well last year) The difference makers are all young and unproven, but I think they are there. We'll see if Canales can find creative ways to get them the ball and take advantage of mismatches. My bet is that we are better than most predict.

  25. Bc that's not what happened, Billy. Lifer knows that too. I've been following this team pretty closely since 2011 and this is by far the worst shape I have seen a recruiting cycle in. It's also the least amount of optimism surrounding the program.

  26. And every G5/non-AQ program that ever had big-time success/pushed for a BCS bowl in the modern era has been very effective passing the ball. G5s don't go undefeated by lining up in the I and pounding the ball. Maybe I'm asking for too much, but I want to see something like that from us and I think we're capable as a program.

  29. There is always a winning and a losing side to any war. To not memorialize their deaths to me is to says their sacrifice isn't worth remembering because they lost and what they were fighting for is today not a popular idea. By those standards we shouldn't have Vietnam Memorials 'cause ... you know ... we lost that one. The Vietnam Wart was extremely unpopular and to this day I feel like we still don't treat veterans from that war with the respect they deserve.

  44. Ping! Also, let's not forget that while most of the soldiers did not own slaves, they probably dreamed of a time when they became rich and prosperous enough to own slaves. I mean let's not beat around the bush, almost no white man in the north or south considered a black man to be his equal. The Union didn't allow blacks to serve until they organized the Bureau of Colored Troops in 1863, and at first only under white officers. Equal pay wasn't instituted until 1865. Most commanders refused to use them in the line, especially with white troops. When the colored units were sent to the Army of the West, Sherman stripped them of their rifles and made them pioneer units. The army wasn't integrated until the Korean War.
