  1. You are wrong. And, when Dan McCarney's team proves you wrong in 2015, you will crawl up to him on your belly like a snake and kitten lick the practice field mud and grass from his sneakers.

  3. reminded me of that great song by Pearl Jam. Waitin, watchin' the lot, it's 6'o clock, they've got to stop Tell them, Greeks to stop, it's time to watch the game As he writes a check, to hand over . . . Counts empty seats, as he looks it over He posts and says he's in love with them, can't find a better fan. . . He dreams in green, he dreams in white, can't find a better fan. . . Can't find a better fan Can't find a better fan Ohh... 'gatin' all by himself, there's no one else who needs to come . . He tells himself, oh Memories back when Hayden Fry was coach and waiting for the call to the big 12 oh Swears he knows it, the whole fight song He posts and says he's in love with them, can't find a better fan. . . He dreams in green, he dreams in white, can't find a better fan. . . He posts and says he still loves them, can't find a better fan. . . He dreams in green, he dreams in white, can't find a better fan. . . Can't find a better fan Can't find a better fan Yeah... He loves them, yeah . . . He don't want to lose this way He needs them, . . . that's why he'll be back again Can't find a better fan Can't find a better fan Can't find a better fan Can't find a better . . . fan

  4. West Mesquite QB set to graduate in December. Mississippi State parted ways. All the other schools that recruited him have their own highly-ranked qb committed now. Would be a good idea to step in and offer this kid. Could be scrambling to find a home last minute, with this situation. Worth making room for, to say the least.

  5. Many people here dismiss the greatness of Hayden Fry and his profound influence on those who coached with him. I am not one of those people. Some consider the glass half empty; others consider it half full. I just drink it and am thankful something was there in the first place. We could be like UTA students and supporters, without a football program and barely able to speak full sentences in English. But, we're not. UTA may have their intramural ping pong to gin up student interest. But, we at least still field an American rules football team for our students and supporters to observe.

  8. To The Tasty Greek: You, sir, are an ass! If you and others on this board did only half of what Kram does for our university, this university would reach heights never before imagined! But no..........many of you on this board only want to bitch and moan! Negative click away - I, for one, have had my fill of the Ben Goodings (and there are many more like you) that reside on this board. Rhey Nolan tylermeangreen

  9. I bet you someone sneaks in last minute and grabs this kid and we get our noses rubbed in it for 2 season in the future. Maybe UTSA, SMU, RICE, UTEP

  10. I am not sure if this has already been posted, but I saw this CUSA mascot challenge on facebook. Let's show our mascot some support! We are way behind Marshall and also behind UTEP so far. I think you meant #terribleschedulingcontinues And btw, if you took my "I thought I saw the clown show in suite level.....etc...closed the door....etc....spoke nothing of it till now....." as anything more than good natured ribbing, then I apologize. I mean, they let Adam Driver in the suite level, why not you? You should see the local bank clown show next door to me, it is epic. #itsallajoke

  14. Most of your post was blathering and opinion, but this is one in which numbers can be checked. Number of regents who are alumni vs not: UNT --- Alumni: 5 (50%) Not: 5 TT --- Alumni : 8 (89%) Not: 1 UT --- Alumni: 9 (75%) Not: 3 A&M --- Alumni: 9 (90%) Not: 1 There is no way any of those schools would be happy with non alumni taking up 50% of their board of regents seats, why the hell are we expected to?

  20. Not completely surprised. A few weeks ago I saw Mason at Jimmy Johns. Told him we'll be rooting for the Homecoming win. He had this blank look on his face and just replied, "We'll see."

  21. I was Corky's cart partner at the Don January. The next week he got fired.I called to offer my condolences, and he said something to the effect that "damn, I didn't think we played that bad" referring to the golf tournament. Al Hurley fired Corky because he got a divorce and married Judy, our women's basketball coach. Hurley had previously fired a new A.D. whose last name was "White" for divorcing his wife and dating our ticket manager, whom he later married. White didn't last a year. This was about 1988. Hurley did a lot for the University, but nothing for athletics, and was a real puritan. Having said that, he was a hell of a lot better than Frank Vandiver[sic], who nearly destroyed the football program. I am really glad that I got to see him inducted into our Hall of Fame. In my opinion, he did more with less than any football coach in our modern era. Just an old man's opinion.

  28. It isn't an excuse. People are asking why UTSA is able to schedule so many of the programs we'd like to play. Their location has to be considered. The only reason UTSA is IN C-USA in the first place is because of their location/market. It stands to reason said location is also attractive to programs that want a win and would like to do so in front of Central Texas recruits. This is logic. Not an excuse. Again, a bunch of -1's from people who don't understand there's more to it than Rick picking up the phone and telling Colorado State to be ready for a home and home in 2019.

  29. UNT has announced the signing of 3 top-tier international players, one for the spring semester and two for next fall. Coach Lama is quoted as saying "this is the strongest recruiting class we have assembled in the time I have been here." Minying Liang from China will be eligible to join the team in January for the spring semester. Laura Arciniegas from Colombia and Tamuna Kutubidze from Georgia (the country, not the state) will begin at UNT in the fall. Laing will fill an open roster spot on this year's team and Arciniegas and Kutubidze will replace the two seniors on the team, Kseniya Bardabush and Fanziska Sprinkmeyer, who graduated in three years and is a graduate student but a senior in eligibility. Both have played sparingly this fall while nursing injuries but should be ready for the spring semester. 33. This is good stuff. I love this pickup. The concept of being scared off because a guy is too big is pretty comical. With 6-9, 345 and 6-6, 300 (Munden) committed at the tackles, then 6-3, 280 (Barr) and 6-4, 285 (Wheeler) committed at center and guard, respectively, I love the frames the coaching staff has pursued for their respective positions.

  35. Ben Gooding, this is a perfect example of why I told you that you would join the ranks of the beaten down UNT alum as time goes on...we have almost no fanbase, yet the ones that we do have love that it is small and they can rub elbows with RV and the BOR. That circle of fans thinks that you or anyone else who complains is a terrible fan, that a real UNT fan should just enjoy playing Florida International at home in November in the rain in SBCUSA play for the right to finish 4-8 or 3-9. They think its just great that we got SMU scheduled for the next decade, that playing Texas Southern, NIcholls State, and Incarnate Word is just fine for OOC games at a brand new stadium. Basically, eveything this school does regarding funding, advertising, and hiring for the athletic department is literally 30 years behind the times. All of the improvements we have seen in the last five years should have been done in 1981, not 2011. Getting a home-and-home with SMU today is a tad different from getting a home-and-home with SMU in 1981. SO, that 's why we are where we are athletically speaking. 30 years ago, when we should've doing what we are doing now, we were apparently trying to kill the program. Today, knowing all that we know about the current landscape of college football, paying $78 million to build a stadium that frankly doesn't bring in any crowd or team that decrepit Fouts could've handled is eventually going to catch up to the administration and BOR. And it will glorious when it does--because the irony of them never funding athletics more than a few crumbs for decades to please the clear majority of people who are anti-athletics at the university will probably get someone fired for actually having to oversee Apogee being built on the backs of the student body who voted for it. And, speaking of 30 years ago, the NCAA forced us and others like us to choose between 1-aa or nothing at all in 1982. Again, how ironic, that 30+ years later, that same equivalent, the P5s splitting off, is upon us again. If we had done something right when we should have in 1982 to get things back in order, maybe, just maybe, we are not in this situation. Maybe we actually built a winner at the i-a level while the SWC fell apart from their cheating scandals. Maybe North Texas would've looked a bit more impressive to other conferences back then, as well as within the last decade. But it would've cost money--and that dear gmg.com posters--is the turd in the punchbowl to this place. We ain't paying a dime more than we have to as far as athletics goes--never have, never will. So when you hear windbag alums griping about who has the biggest package in their pants and how its a clownshow around here amongst you peasants, know that they have the BOR's ears and the AD's heart. And that's how a 37k enrollment school, with hundreds of thousands of alumni within an area that millions reside in, cannot draw more than 20k regualrly to its football games.

  37. I remember George bringing his boy with him to spring games back in the '90s--I guess that was Blake. Anyhow, he's come a long way and had a solid career. You don't hear his name called too often, which is usually a good thing for a deep snapper. Appreciation to him and all the seniors.

  40. The same. Half the coaches in America lose games every week. For every winning team, there's a losing team. But everyone wants to win each and every year. Not possible. So there's an ebb and flow. Some teams do better year in and year out, thanks to investments in program, perceived prestige, and coaching hires. Others consistently do worse (for many of the same reasons, except the opposite). I guess it takes a perfect combination of recruiting, coaching, and having a schedule of opponents who aren't doing it as well. UCONN is probably in a tougher position than UNT. They played a tougher schedule (91st vs 117th), and will do so for the foreseeable future because the AAC is probably a better conference, year in and year out (rated 12th vs CUSA's 16th and 17th). Neither had a particularly difficult schedule, however. Anyways, I didn't present it with any agenda. Just that many other programs suffer the same frustrations week in and week out... and the coaches cite the same reasons.
