Seats were awesome and the young alumni section was loud and seemed to be doing a great job of picking up the slack on the heckling of SMU. The only small issue was that the shuttle didn't show up until 10 because they were waiting on the first train to come in but they said that it wouldn't be an issue next game and that it would be there 2 hours before game and every 15 minutes until it starts.

Greer did exactly what was asked of him,...and that was to manage the game and not turn the ball over. Nothing more, nothing less. He's only going to get better at reading D's, going further into his checks and finding the open guy and getting him the ball. You don't want to play UNT this season.... one team lost its only viable QB and center, the other lost so badly their coach got fired...Future oponents coach: I suggest you send in your twos and threes from the get go and lowball all expectations. That way nobody gets hurt.

Beating SMU so bad their coach resigned gives us a bragging point for decades. I haven't been this happy since Eppy became Scrappy.

Tech fan here. Thought i would come here and update the 2014 Bulldogs team. This is not last years team. Offense Dixon was injured last year in the Lamar game and was not the same, this year he is back. The running game is opened up by the passing game and this year we have a QB that makes good throws and quick receivers. Think Carlos Harris aka water bug but times 4 cause we got a lot of small quick receivers. OL is the biggest improvement. Pass protection has been great but we are a little slow in the running game. So far we have handled the ball well and haven't had a turnover. If that continues we will score some points. Defense We are a little undersized but quick and tackle well. You will get some good runs but if you have some negative plays i think we hold UNT to under 28. Our D really tries to force turnovers, if we don't blitz we run a zone that seems to work. Special teams Blah, we have 2 kickers that are both pretty damn good and a decent punter. We do have some issues with field goal blocking. Have already had 3 blocked kicks. Coverage has been good. I think the spread is correct. We have played 1 good game in our last 14 so i feel confident if we play well we will have a chance to win. If we revert to conservative play calling we will lose. Tech has sold out its allotment of tickets so should be a good crowd for the dogs. Winner has a leg up in the west so we know this is a huge game.

Allow me to preface this post by saying I love UNT's new president and had the privilege to shake his hand after we ran into each other on the streets of Austin after the game. He even introduced me to his crew as "MeanGreenMan" and has a lot of spirit and energy. Also, when it comes to social media, he gets it. He tweeted about the game Thursday night and some students questioned if they could get out of class. You should probably chill out a bit. Like others have said - the stats for Greer don't look that great. And having watched him in two games, he's stared down the receivers. Regardless of the sport, one of the last things someone should ever do is telegraph their next move. Staring down a receiver is just asking for a pass to be knocked away or worse yet, an interception. Which, that's exactly what happened to Greer at UT. It could very well have happened against SMU. It doesn't take a great deal of coaching experience to understand that: A.) passing has a higher likelihood of turnovers B.) telegraphing a pass is a bad idea That being the case, it's not really the coaches I'm worried about. They're adjusting for what they're seeing on tape and in practice. They're trying to get the best result. Whether or not I agree with them isn't the point of discussion. The point of the discussion for me is, "Greer should clean up his passing technique since that will help our offensive game, and therefore, improve chances of winning." I don't have to be a coach or a player to understand that.

I like Greer. I like McNulty. And, I like Williams. But, what I like most of all is winning.

We seem to be working our way up.... If I was the LaTech AD I would be worried

Go back and look at DTs stats from 2011, his first full season. There are a lot of 10-20, 11-22 games in there, even a 2-7 game in a blowout win. Look at 2012, more of the same, 8-21, 11-24,12-28, 17-29 to name just a few. And not to mention plenty of picks sprinkled in there. Look at what he did in most of our wins last season. He threw over 275 yds twice in all our wins. Our biggest victory last season against Rice. 7-13 104 yds 1td 1int. We didn't have a QB lighting the world on fire last season and ended up ok. But I'm Amazed at the people about a QB going 9-12 for 86 yds in just a half of football. 18-24 for 172 over an entire game.

No post season until 2017? After what I saw on Saturday that shouldn't be a problem for SMU.

Those SMU recruits should do what the SMU "fans" couldn't and make the trip 30 miles North.

Really wish UTEP had pulled out that game against Tech and UTSA against Arizona. Both were there for the taking.

LOL!!!! I'm sorry, I'm not laughing at your statement, I'm laughing at myself because I know the path you and so many new posters like you are headed down. Please allow me to help you just a bit. It might save you some hair from being pulled out. The sooner you come to the understanding that those field goals are just as much pin point targets for success in this system as a TD is,... the sooner you will be able to relax and enjoy the game a bit more. I was where you are during the Dickey era. I expected us to be Louisville, Oregon, Texas Tech, Florida St,.. throwing the ball all over the place,.. scoring at will etc. We weren't those offenses then and we won't be now. Mac is DD Part II. Like the Buick Offense, Mac now runs a Mercury. Like The Buick, The Mercury is perfectly happy to win 3-0 games as long as we do three points successfully .... 1)Stop The Run,....2)Run and Grind and Hold Onto The Ball....2)Play Solid Defense and Special Teams. That's it. That's all there is. A 3-0 win with the QB going 8-12 for 90 yards and a score is considered as good and just as successful in this system as a 65-0 win where the QB throws 38-42 for 500 yards and 6 TD's. I know it's frustrating, but I and many of us here have been here already and know that to a point, this system can be successful against teams not prepared to play at the same level of physicality. It's just the style of ball we play. So save yourself the frustration and get used to it. It's a Mercury. It's not nearly as flashy as a Mustang....but by God it'll get you there! Rick

Have you ever led any team/organization in your life? I like DW too, but to let his abilities become more important than McCarney's system/team policies could possibly destroy team chemistry or put Mac's authority in question. I'm very aware that a best-case scenario might play out: DW leads us to a win and Coach says "eff it" and crowns him starter and the team embraces everything. It's a risk that is up to Coach Mac, so you have to ask yourself: does Mac strike you as a guy who takes risks? I think we all know the answer...

Greenjoe presented George with a "Russia State" T-Shirt and ParksandRec Rick presented George with a "The Rant" plaque! Thanks to both of these guts for their creative work...great stuff! Thanks to all who took time to come tonight in support of a Coach Mac and the Mean Green! Really fun show tonight..Mac was definitely "on" tonight and fired up for the LaTech game. Said LaTech was much improved from last year...great new QB and a much improved running game. No pads for our guts at practice this week. Mac indicated that this was "Wednesday" as far as practice and game prep was concerned...with five of five on FG's our freshman kicker, Trevor Moore, was named CUSA special teams player of the week. Thursday night is sunglasses night....students will be given sunglasses to wear...Hank encouraged the alums and fans to follow suit Thursday night. Hank indicated that beer sales went Very well and that they had tweeted a couple of things this week to help with the wait times. Coach Mac praised the student turnout and "encouraged" the alums and fans to match the students for Thursday night. It was Coach Simmonds who collected the sideline penalty Saturday...I think Mac has gotten over that now! :-). But, he was not pleased with the number of penalties Saturday. He did say several were due to the team's aggressive play and he does not want to temper the aggressive play...just wants the team to play smarter...not less aggressive. Mac had to leave early to get to practice. John Nitardy, new head of the Mean Green Club, took over after Mac left. He mentioned how great the Apogee atmosphere was Saturday and he also mentioned the nice student turnout. Really fun show tonight...thanks again for all who made the effort to come out in support. See you Thursday as the Mean Green whip up on LaTech. Go Mean Green!
