that "overrated hack" jj lost to a struggling A&M team by 10... in the same arena that benford and a less talented Mean Green squad took A&M to the woodshed4 points

Well...I had a conversation with 2 of my moving guys a long time ago. They were felons. We discussed the Higgs-Boson particle theory, Fyodor Dostoyevsky's polyphonic talent as a character developer and the premise of logical positivism as it applies to scientific realism as opposed to the rejection of metaphysical interpretations. I'll never forget that as long as I live. So...I guess it's a push?4 points

Hi Rick, I'd really like to understand why you believe climate change science is a hoax. Is it because you are in posession of better data? Or better analyses? Skepticism is good. There's nothing wrong with keeping an open mind & refusing to buy unproven conclusions. But your doubt should be tentative & you should be willing to consider that maybe the other guy is right. Otherwise you're basing your arguments on ideology - not science. Keep green!4 points

OK, I win. My first year at North Texas there was no UB/Student Union. One did open the following year, however, where the Administration Building now stands and we thought we were in heaven. It had a huge lounge called the Howdy Room where there were dances, post office, two places to eat, trophy room, and I believe the bookstore. There was a slab out back for dancing, roller skating, ROTC ceremonies, etc. We had concerts by the One O'Clock Lab Band and other groups. There were pre-game pep rallies on the front steps. It certainly wasn't as elegant but much homier than its successor.4 points

Bill, I could be confused. I spent 1951-54 in the service and came back to finish in 1957 so I had two stints at NT. We definitely had bands play during the day at times and I'm reasonably certain that they were called lab bands (although maybe not the One O'Clock). Fesser Graham''s band (The Aces of Collegeland) only played the Saturday Night Stage Show and special occasions as I recall but the day group could've been some of those band members. I've had some great and memorable experiences and could be the only alum to have attended the last class of NTSTC as a freshman and the last2 points

Had a little run in last night with a UNT student at sports authority. So if you haven't been to sports authority in Denton lately UNT athletics is up to one entire rack of clothing wear! (still disappointing) So we were checking out and the cashier looked of collegiate age so i made a simple statement of "you think there will ever be a larger selection of UNT apparel" He came back with the statement "NEVER they are terrible." I then made a statement that UNT won the Heart of Dallas bowl this year. His comeback was well OU won the Sugar Bowl. All i said was Apple and Oranges. So i c2 points

I appreciate the humor, but as the Ticket said the other day: "Conan failed because the nation wasn't ready for the masturbating bear."2 points

I should be careful lest I get minus a million like you just did, but I'd vote for any station carrying Russ Martin.2 points

Rick, I don't think these ebbs & flows of weather counteract the gradual changes seen at a higher level. Yes it's cold in the U.S. right now, but I have a friend in Germany who says their winter was unusually warm this year and they've had much less snow than they normally do. Are we to assume that means the world is going to melt in 5 years?2 points

Perhaps what the iPhone makes up for in ease of use it fails horribly in spelling. I see more people with iPhones become atrocious spellers. Apple honestly does not know the difference between your and you're.2 points

Dickey was fired and then the regents over turned the decision. Why do you think Dickey and RV never got along after that?1 point

Yeah, because A&M was equally motivated and focused to play on New Years Eve against us as it was against an old historic rival in LSU that is now a conference game for them...totally equal, for sure!!1 point

In the early 60's at NTSC, there was dancing on the slab behind the UB. The music was played by the Fesser and His Aces. Most important, can you still get the coffee cake at the current Union?1 point

Yes...the punishment is the prison sentence. If reform is impossible for a certain segment, as you suggest, why would they ever be released? Holder isn't suggesting that prisoners should be given the right to vote...rather released convicted felons...released because those responsible for deeming whether they're fit to re-enter society have deemed it so. And so we're clear...I don't feel that any released felon should be restored the entire rights of the citizenry immediately. There should certainly be a probationary period...5 years? 10 years?...with those convicted of violent crimes1 point

They laughed that we kept him (Trilli) for 4 years. They also mentioned that in the history of college football Dodge's stretch was 5 better than the worst coaching stretch in CFB history. So happy to have those days behind us and to have learned from our mistakes...1 point

New Union?! I was at NTSU when they were building the current one which was then state of the art.1 point

However, Trilli inherited a team that had been right around .500 for years (unlike Benford who came into a solid foundation) that had just moved into a new league where practically every road swing was a thousand miles (one way). Our OOC scheduling was insane, at least for the first couple of years. He was entering a tougher situation than Benford was. I still think Trilli was worse though.1 point
-
No, and Benford has managed to schedule enough NAIA teams and eek out wins against them to avoid the top 5, IMO. Lets hope we care enough about the basketball program to make a change at season's end.1 point

Read here everyday don't post much but I keep seeing people worrying over Antonio's status at workouts.. He was banged up during the year & is not 100 % medically.. Hear it's nothing that will keep him off the field come summer but that's why he hasn't been at workouts.. GMG1 point

No. My argument is with the science. That is exactly WHY I have a problem with the government action on the science. You accept as reality the premise of Man-Made global warming. I don't. As a result of our individual beliefs, we have differing opinions on government action or lack thereof. If it makes you feel better to classify folks who disagree with your conclusions as irrational, I guess that's your right, but rather close minded. This is a forum, not a thesis. I don't always have every article, book, website or forum I've read at my finger tips. ...though for this thread, I1 point
