  1. From a pure fan point of view that doesn't watch the position battles as closely as most, today was greatness! The day was perfect! It was a perfect running day for the 5k. This was my first spring game to attend after living out of town for a decade, and it just really felt nice to "start" the season in April. The garage sale and game were icing. Nice to see the students out and our D looks like it is going to be strong this year. I echo the QB play. I was impressed with AM and BB. DT looks faster and better from the competition. All in all a great day in Denton. For our tailgate crew a new tradition is born. GMG

  2. An offer to be the head guy at his own program and I would think the opportunity to make more money ? And he turned it down ? It sounds like to me that he is sincere and wants to do what he can here. I appreciate his not wanting to "jump ship" and make this past season a really unpleasant memory. GO MEAN GREEN

  3. It was a great turnout. Had a blast. Met some new people. Saw Abner Haynes. Won an auction item. Lot's of families and students. Was good to see. Enjoyed watching the players. Don't be so down on our boys. GMG!!!

  4. The good thing is he won't take any recruits with him. If we even have any recruits... "The biggest reason I turned the job down was because I came here to help get this program going." Really! No, you came here to elevate a program that was already "going" just fine and had "the most talented team in UNT history" to work with. Already trying to re-write UNT history?

  6. Count me as a supporter of DT until someone else proves better. With all the DT hate on this board, I'm starting to question my belief that a red alert would be issued should his dochshund go missing.

  7. Apologizies due to the athletic department. The logo is correct, as Conference USA has slightly tweeked their logo to its current configuration.

  10. I think the bottom line for me was that BB had that "looks like he could go out and win you a game" factor. DT, though he looked a bit better, stll quite frankly scares me. Everything from his mechanics (throwing motion) to the roulette wheel feeling I get when he throws more than 15 yards. I did like what I saw from lil' Mac. I have no worries about the OL. I think they'll be fine. RB's were a mixed bag but they didn't all have the luxury of the first string OL. I really like Carlos Harris. I hope he can be that guy to draw some attention away from Chancellor. Still worried about the DL.

  11. What? Really? Do you watch football games? What's the first thing a QB does when he gets to the sidelines? He gets with the OC. Who should he be talking to? Sklandy? Mac? Diet Coke Boy? The QB should be the OC's shadow. That's a good thing that the QB is getting with his coach to know what to improve, look for, audible to, patterns, etc

  13. Berglund should have seen time with the first team like Thompson and McNulty did.

  14. I think Bergland is the best option at QB with the #1 offense. He played on that awful White team but I just felt something special with him in the game. A couple of nice runs didn't happen because they were calling the QB's down when someone touched their jersey. Very dissapointed in Pegram. No explosion, power or moves today. Solid core of receivers in Chancellor, Harris, Terrell & D. Smith. Liked what I saw from Jarrian Roberts (#30). He should have stayed at LB.

  15. I couldnt make it to the game, but from what im hearing; it was pretty uneventful. No real playmakers, nothing special, just the same ole below average Mean Green.

  18. Tulsa fucked them... Very simply nobody else in Texas will want to be the eastern outlier due to the already lack of history that would have to absorb a 2 time zone hit on attendance. UTEP is stuck. They are the true western outlier in the CUSA and NMSU is not really an option to move with them. Tulsa was always the assumed travel partner due to the longstanding history. With them in the AAC, UTEP has no real options.

  21. you do realize SMU was 7-6 last year with a bowl win and they beat Tulsa and UH which is something north Texas has not done in a long time (since the 60s for Tulsa and the 70s for UH) and that was with GG coming into a new system after not playing for over a year and the team they closed out the season against in a bowl game was 9-3 on the season and 9-4 overall and riding a 5 game winning streak where they had pounded their opponents significantly in all 5 games leading up to losing significantly to SMU in the bowl game if north Texas had a QB do that he would anointed as one of the greatest in north Texas history and sadly those anointing him as that would probably be close to being right about it and he would surely be the greatest in any recent memory when you are reaching back 50+ years to find when the culture was a winning one (and only for a fleeting moment) you are stretching it a bit to say there is not a culture of losing

  30. Let's be honest, Berglund is the highly touted minor league prospect and yesterday was his Sept call up. Without the benefit of seeing him day in, day out, fans are inclined to dramatically overrate good qualities as sure-fire potential and dismiss poor qualities citing an understandable learning curve. If nothing else, hopefully he drives competition.

  31. Five or six posters on here have their panties in a wad and think everyone is ready to jump ship because they are. That is both ridiculous and hilarious. Support our team the best you are able or jump ship. The rats are right behind you. I sat in Apogee today and loved it? Why, because I got to see my team play. I would rather see them than the Cowboys, Rangers, UT, OU, NASCAR, etc... Support our team. Everyone wanted us to go to CUSA and now everyone can't wait for us to fail. It is incredible to read some of this crap on here. Does this mean I am happy losing? Not at all. I hate losing. It ruins my week and pisses me off to no end, but degrading our team and the young men that chose to play and represent my university is wrong. We will be improved this year, but some of you will be too busy looking for what is wrong instead of what is right. F SMU. I wish them nothing but complete and utter failure on all levels and all sports.

  32. Yup. Just doesn't command respect, both from our coaches calling the plays and the opposing defensive coordinators. Mcnulty did look good, but our qb will be asked to handle the ball and his awareness and ball protection were subpar to say the least. Much better awareness from Berglund, although he held onto the ball too long a play or two. Receivers just weren't open, but he has to learn to throw the ball to scrappy in the stands rather than get blindsided. Berglund has the strongest arm, tightest spiral (which does matter), most quick/compact release and most athletic. Mcnulty was probably the most consistent this spring but doesn't have the natural talent of BB. And DT has the most experience. Expect to see DT and BB first half against Idaho. Also, skip Caldwell just seems to get open. Those guys do damage when they're on the field

  33. I thought McNulty and Berglund did about as good as anyone could have with the second team O. If McNulty had not gone in and QB'd the first team at the end of the game, the White team probably would have hung on a won. I just wish we could have seen what Berglund could do with the starters. Plus, they didn't bring Berglund in to play for the third team. Everyone at the game today could see he had more ability then the other QBs. Could he excel on the first team and separate himself from the other QBs? I don't know. Today he didn't get the chance. McNulty got a chance, and I think he made the most of it.

  36. Thanks, not a very good turnout. Believe Texas State had nearly 5,000 at their Spring game.

  37. True. Many folks outside of North Texas think that a team which OUR athetic department touted as "the most talented ever" stumbling to a 12-20 finish and a blow out first round exit in the SBC tournament wasa sign of great things to come. No, really, they do. Don't let a few of us convince you otherwise.

  39. Benford is the reason Mitchel stayed. That in itself kept the team together. That was the big goal. Otherwise just think about how bad our team would have been without CJ, JW, and TJ. If Mitchell is successful It is on Mitchell and if he fails it is on Mitchell. Either way he still respects Benford and this university. Amazing to think that successful people out there are not as shallow as people who are full of negativity huh. I wish Mitchell the best and hope he succeeds but there is no blaming anyone else for his ups and downs.

  46. Pretty much agree with everything you said. They've just been in hockey graveyard for a long time and it was time to commit to youth. Even in 2008 while they were a better team than the last few years that run to the WCF was very Cinderella. I don't think the rebuild process will take as long as people think because there are a lot of good and intriguing pieces in place in my opinion.
