  1. So let me get this straight. All this time TCU has been winning with smoke and mirrors?

  10. Who in the world gave me a minus 1 for posting what I did about Tony. It's time to put this petty bullshit over politics behind us. I back one candidate, you back another. Nuff said!!!!

  11. Umm, he did it at Fouts when the coaches were heading down from the pressbox at half. Ramon Flanigan went after him in the stands.

  12. I, for one, do not give a crap about Houston football. I appreciate the dude coming on here and trying to be social like the therapist recommended. I mean, it shows real progress. Seriously though -- how much charity can one board provide? Re: the article, Methinks Brett Medeiros has been reading about being edgy and taking controversial stands. Good on him. Eff a Fouts. It was and is terrible. Not worthy of a University that aims to pursue FBS athletics. It hurts a few kid's pocketbooks, sure. These are the breaks. Welcome to LIFE: it is a bitch. Can't wait until he takes Advanced Investigative Journalism, where the reporting can really change (into something less eye-roll inducing).

  13. Shedding the body bag games is the first step to shedding a loser mentality. If anybody on the UH board was to talk about being satisfied with losing by less than 21 points to somebody like LSU, they would get driven off of the board. Part of being a winner is thinking like one, stop accepting mediocrity. Accept the best and nothing less.

  14. Yes. If you forced me to choose, I'd rather have the win over Texas Southern than the loss to LSU.

The last line was my review of the book (well, really my review of the the reviews of the book). Alas, I have no choice. Soylent Green is people! I guess I'll have a Royale with cheese.

  19. Must be losing your hearing in your old age. Why would you do that? Would you ever go to a football coach after a game and tell him that his team looked worse that the opponent? Why would you do that?

  20. Very nice article Brett Vito. Very nice.
    2 points
  21. No. You schedule 1 BCS opponent that you gear up for, 1 decent team AQ or Non-AQ and then a bunch of patsies and run the table. We did it, Boise did it, Hawaii did it, TCU did it, Utah did it and as of right now Ohio U and La Tech are doing it.

  24. Because if he shows up, we actually attempt a field goal that subsequently we take off the board due to a UH personal foul, allowing us to continue the drive and score a touchdown. Otherwise, turnover on downs.

  26. Also...NUMBERS! Houston's offense has looked competent in 2 of their 4 games...La Tech (49) and Rice (35). Rice is giving up 43.6ppg. La Tech is giving up 37.0ppg. UNT...despite playing 2 top 15 teams...is giving up just 22.2ppg.

  27. If we WIN, 22k won't be the average. It's amazing that for how bad this program has sucked a$$ the last 7 years that we have 22k coming to games. Win. Win games that matter. The rest takes care of itself.

  29. TAMS kids aren't taking advanced placement classes, they are taking college classes. As a kid who was offered a scholarship to TAMS, only the top .009% of high school students are accepted into TAMS and that is after scoring in the 97% percentile on all sections of what was the TAAS test when I was in 7th grade, and then being selected to take the ACT or SAT and scoring in the top percentile of those selected are you given the opportunity to obtain a scholarship. These are not kids from Plano and Frisco takin dual-credit classes. And by the way, I was offered scholarships to Duke and SMU, through the Duke Talent Identification Program, in the 7th grade to take college classes during the summer and I wasn't ever finished with middle school. Are they decent universities?

  30. So you are saying a student has to graduate from that university in order for them to be counted in housing numbers? I don't get you man... It's ok to admit you are wrong every once in a while... Don't worry about it man... You just didn't do your research on this one, it's not like anyone would think less of you than they already do...

Before you roll your eyes at that, remember that our 5th ranked market is one of the reasons we will have different conference patches on the uni's next season.... and will be cashing a TV rights check that is about 11 times bigger than the one we did before.

  34. Just to make sure that I get this straight, you are mad at "cheating and covering up breaking the law" by a college kid smoking marijuana, yet the person in your avatar did the exact same thing, admittedly, while in college and he is the POTUS who you unequivocally support for re-election. I marvel at that reasoning even more.

  35. Compared to cocaine, it is a fantastic alternative. Marijuana is safer than alcohol (and tobacco) is. The only reason it's illegal is because the government was in bed with too many people in the timber industry that had a lot to lose when hemp became a popular alternative to timber, so they went on a smear campaign to illegalize it. It'll be fully legal in all states within 25 years...legal, taxed, and regulated like tobacco and alcohol.

  38. Not to mention that they're actually technically university students and not high school students. TAMS has a TEA exemption so you don't have to take courses like Health, etc. as the normal state requirements go. Also, once you're in TAMS, you aren't required to graduate from high school to get a college degree. After your first year, you could transfer to another University or simply "drop out" of TAMS and continue taking courses at North Texas (as you're already enrolled there). Regardless, they are residents on campus at the University of North Texas. But, it's no surprise he doesn't want to count them. Gotta keep that target moving once you've been demonstrated to be a fraud. Heck, he can't even count the number of residents halls on campus.

  42. Well, if nobody gives a crap about UH football, yet we still sell out our stadium, get College Gameday to come to our campus to showcase our game and get people to pay 300 bucks for a game ticket. Then I hate to see what people think about UNT football...

  44. GL2Greatness, let's end this once and for all: http://colleges.usne...of-houston-3652 http://colleges.usne...lleges/unt-3594 UH is ranked #184, UNT #203. (You have to subscribe to US News to see the rank, that's why it says Rank Not Published, if you click for more info you see it says from 201-299 we are ranked in but I have a subscription from my mom. So either way UH beats us here.) UH has a 63.8% acceptance rate, we have a 64% acceptance rate. UH has a far superior endowment than us, mostly based off their legendary law school. Ain't much money in the music and teaching biz. But this is an obvious one. UH and UNT have the same exact student to faculty ratio. UNT has a 21% 4 year graduation rate, UH has a 15%. At UH, 15% of the student population lives in dorms. 19% live in dorms at UNT. 70% of students have cars on campus at UH while 34% have cars on campus at UNT. Same high school counselor score UH has an 80% freshman retention rate, UNT at a 77% UNT has a 49% 6-year graduation rate, UH with a 46% UH has 21% classes with 50+ students and UNT 19% classes with 50+ students UH and UNT are pretty much identical for graduate students, a 1.9% difference, UH better, and UH is located in the middle of a city around people who can go back and get their degree without driving to Denton. So what do we learn? That UNT and UH are pretty much IDENTICAL in academics and school experience, except UH is a commuter school where as UNT is...kind of...not so much anymore, but still has a bit of that. UH is better in one thing, UNT the other. I grew up in Houston, UH IS a commuter school and the only reason I didn't go there was because I wanted to leave town and be on my own. UH is a FAR superior football school and NOBODY IS DEBATING THAT. UH is slowly becoming more integrated with the town like UTSA is because of their football team and their recent massive rise in academics and I applaud them for that. But it's still a commuter school. If I didn't want to get away, I would be a Cougar. It goes both ways. Great and excel in different things. Would I go to UNT over UH for a law degree? Hell no. Would I go to UH over UNT for a music degree? Hell no. Would I go to UNT over UH for a business degree? Hell no. Would I go to UH over UNT for a hospitality management degree? Hell no. Would I go to UNT over UH for an engineering degree? Hell no. Would I go to UH over UNT for a education degree? Hell no. But please, go on about how none of the stats I have posted matter as you always do. I can do the same for TxState, if you like. You know, GOOGLE OBVIOUS STATISTICS.
