  1. Also from that thread, "Many of us chose different board names over here. Too many in the Ath. Dept. knew what our gmg.com board names were." Maybe it's time for a little self-introspection when you've got to continuously switch user names on an internet message board so that nobody knows who you are?? Wow.

  4. Will if you think ancillary information is important to the debate, Cam came from Arkansas not OU. Not sure that changes much. Labeling any NT player a bust is suspect behavior in my view. Doing it before his sophomore year and based on that player not meeting your expectations based on a hs rating is even more questionable. About half of players signed significantly contribute to a program, its a numbers thing as much as talent. Would you rate the other half of the players bust, or is that reserved for only the highly touted at some point? The most touted player ever to sign with NT was Milton Collins. He was thought to be the next Earl Campbell and was regarded as the best rb in Texas. He has been labeled the biggest "bust" ever at NT; but he was far from it. He gave NT great publicity just by signing and although he never was a great runner; he ending playing 4 years and starting in the defensive line. Cam may or may not ever be a star or even a big contributor at NT, that remains to be determined. I am not sure it is appropriate to call anyone a "bust" that plays for NT, but at least give them a chance to suceed or fail before making that public determination.

  7. The lesson here, if there is one, is that these are 17-22 year old amateur athletes and we should be careful how we talk about them. Once they're pros making millions for playing a game then feel free to write whatever you like. Until then, calling someone 'a bust', especially anonymously, shows a lack of class.

  8. I'm shocked I made the list and my brother didn't. I'm not as bad at hi-jacking threads as he is. I do challenge people on their (sometimes) bad ideas that come across. See the Practice/Scrimmage thread as a prime example. If people don't like that; tough stuff. It really is CS though to go start another board, then hide behind new screen names and post negative about people. Really makes me want to stay with the program when we go all high school and start talking behind people's backs. I have a pretty good idea of who is who on that board. I got a good laugh out of JayDub not getting invited ... he posts on this site so frequently.

  10. Call Jessica at 940-369-8916. you are eligible for a recent grad price on the MGC too. I graduated in 2010. last year I gave $500, but I didn't know about recent grad pricing. This year I only had to give $75 for the same benefits as I got for the $500. Full access to the hospitality room for men and women's bball games and everything.

  11. Your constant negativity astounds me, given you're someone who lives and dies for this program. You remind me of Boston sports fans. "If the Patriots don't win by 35 and Tom Brady doesn't throw for 400 yards and 5 TD's every week, he's a bum and Brian Hoyer needs to be put in, and Belichick should be fired. For good measure, let's blow up Gillette Stadium and rebuild the old stadium to relive the glory days of going 3-13."-the thought process of Boston sports fans. That is what you remind me of.

  18. I think Dr. Seuss is just "putting in the call", per se. Not necessarily saying "He's already busted", but that "He won't be as good as everyone expects in the future". I don't think there's anything wrong with that. What's odd is that he reminds us about it at every turn, almost as if he's glad Cam may fail. If anything, he's a success, since because of him, his brother is here and appears to be the lock for our starting C for years to come.

  24. It's very high school not entertaining. It's more annoying than anything. Some of the same people that bitch about wanting a top tier program are the ones that treat it like a high school program. If you want to be respected as a "grown-up" program then act like it. Starting another board just so you can complain about the other is like breaking away from the church to start your own sect that despises the main body. It doesn't do anyone any good. They end up weakening each other, and hurting the "club"

This all really boils down to posting a message on a message board and that message being posted on another message board, then a member of that message board taking offense to the message and posting a message back to the original messenger. So glad I decided to adopt UNT because this is very entertaining.

  27. It would be great fun to "out" those negative grump buckets on the other board...but, everyone...including the AD staffers...know exactly who they are...it's funny that they continue to pat each other on the back about what great fans they are, while knocking everything about the program and its fan base every chance they get. And, let us not forget...threatening to withhold support at every opportunity. Of course, all the while claiming to be the only true and best fans of UNT and the Mean Green. With "friends" like these, does the program and UNT need any enemies? How in the Sam Hill did I not make their list? They seem to still mention me on a pretty regular basis and always in such a kind manner...I wear that crap as a badge of honor as I am sure all the "listed" folks do. Grant, fear not...you have plenty of company...your support of the program and UNT is known and should serve as a guideline for other young grads. I, for one, appreciate your enthusiasm and your support for the Mean Green. UNT could use a lot more young grads exactly like you! Thanks. And.......... Welcome to the club...

  34. what does "Lulz" mean, and why would they hate me? so the recent grad program is a 5 year program that started last year. anyone who graduates can join and get the benefits of the MGC. it goes on for 5 years after you graduate. it goes up every year by $25 so that at the end you are at the lowest level of MGC membership which is $125. It is retro active back to 2008, as well. Pretty awseome plan to get recent grads on board and to start giving!! Kuddos to whoever thought of this.

  36. I just called the ticket office and got right through. They said the tickets will be sent out within the next week and a half. They are just waiting for them to come in from the printer. The number is 1-800-868-2366 and they are open 8am-5pm M-F. I personally don't remember ever having problems getting a hold of someone in the ticket office. Maybe I'm just lucky.

  37. That's such a retarded way to look at things. The whole idea behind trying to reduce our carbon footprint is to leave our ancestors a better planet to live on. If there are no children, there is no point. It isn't like the Earth is going to blow up in 5 years, odds are it will still be livable throughout our lifetime. But to suggest that having children while changing your lifestyle to be more environmentally friendly is hypocrisy, is absurd. Continuing our life as a species is not a bad thing for the environment, in fact that is what happens in nature. Life forms reproduce. We are a life form. That is what the point of life is. I understand that the US lifestyle is ridiculously consumptive. That's the whole point in changing one's lifestyle, to go against that. I don't understand how that can be difficult to comprehend. Change starts with a single person. If the US is going to change, people are going to have to change before it's the popular thing to do. Now, changing your life to be more environmentally friendly may not make as much of an impact as not having children, but in the long run, having the normal amount of children (you know, 1-4, not like 19 like the idiots who have that TV show), and teaching them to be environmentally conscious and to care about the planet they live on leads to a pretty damn positive impact. Making the world more environmentally friendly should be the single biggest concern humanity has, regardless of the validity of man-made climate change. How, in any way, is cleaning up our planet ever a bad idea? Only bad can come of ignoring our impact, and only good can come from changing it.

  39. There will be a lot of pundits who will pick MTSU and maybe even WKU over NT. There will also be some that pick NT just on the basis they have heard of Tony Mitchell. A lot do no other analysis than look at last years records and who returns. MTSU has everyone back but one and they were easily the highest rated Belt team last year. NT has a new coach, an unproven at the hc level. I do think most that really make an attempt at analysis will pick NT. No one will disagree that Mitchell is the best player in the league, other than Belt fans of other schools. Most of them agree, but there are still a few that seem to be in denial. I think what most don't realize the capability of the rest of the squad. If this team clicks, it should be the best team in the Belt at least as long as NT has been a member. Yes, I think it can be better than the WKU teams that went relatively deep in the NCAA,s.

  45. No, the reason I even continued to post in this thread was because the claim was made that MOST major football programs find no value including their donor and fanbase in at least one practice or scrimmage, and I simply showed that this simply was not true, and the Kram-ablers can't handle the truth. But, since you brought up the days of our cooking for the team and fans, it actually started for the spring games. Always hoping for us to improve, one year('01 or '02 I think it was?) I spoke with a TCU official who told me they used their spring game as a large promotional to increase and sell and grow their season ticket base. I thought, "Gee, who wouldn't like to have even one ounce of the promotional effort that TCU has been doing to draw in from their tiny fan base?". That type of effort, as far as I was aware of, had never happened here before, so I approached this dept about doing this after one of the New Orleans bowls, and was given the same brush-off that Emmitt was given last week when he approached them with an offer to help as well, and that is, "Yeah, yeah, that's great and all but we are already going to do that for the spring game.....we got it, don't worry". So the spring game comes around...................NOTHING. No promotion, no sales ad's, no one asking those in attendance if they were ready to renew season tickets, NOTHING! So, having been around enough to understand the climate I was dealing with at North Texas, I go back and asked again the next year and this time, Very Green, Mo Green, SoundMan, SilverEagle, myself and countless others offered to them that we would even front the money, and do all the labor, and cook barbecue for the team AND their family and friends, if they would simply promote it and supply the resources to sell and renew season ticket holders. And for what ever reason Dickey was allowed to change the spring game from a saturday when it was to happen, to a Thursday when no one could hardly get there in time after work. So the barbecue occured after a saturday morning scrimmage. It was poorly if ever promoted and few showed up, and the departments total great effort was Mandy showing up with about 20 pages of renewal sheets stuffed under a rock on one table that morning. And the scrimmage the next week on a Thursday night was poorly attended for a team that had just gone to a bowl game and we never took advantage of the interest gained only months before. I see people here mention many times over that "winning didn't do us anything in attendance during the Sun Belt bowl years", yet easily forget, or they never even took notice of, how so often our AD Dept blew these opportunities off. But after that Spring, coach Dickey got wind of our efforts and liked what he heard and calls me at the station and asked if we would instead do this again but before the season in the Fall. And we did, and you got to attend the scrimmage(WE didn't though, WE were cooking and preparing the food during the scrimmage), then got to eat afterwards, and the response by players and their families, coaches and fans was great. But there was very little attempt if any to offer those who did show up to renew and sell tickets, but I could be wrong, because as I said, I was busy cooking and serving. So now you have what you have, and I suppose there are promotionals to get folks who do show up to renew, even though last year's event, outside of getting to try out our brand new stadium, was one of the least memorable. At least it's something, but it's my opinion they are not doing all they can by integrating it in with a scrimmage like so many other programs do........even the MAJOR ones. . Rick

  46. Scrimmages are kinda pointless to watch for a fan IMO If the OL is looking good , means the DL is looking bad If the WRs are making plays , means the DBs aren't If the RBs are making big plays , means the LB are missing assignments Kinda hard to get too excited about something without having a concern about something else

  47. Scepticism (and by 'scepticism' I mean skepticism) is healthy. It should, however, be informed by some knowledge of the subject. The vast majority of climate scientists - the people with knowledge - believe that climate change is occurring, that it is in large part due to man's activity, and that it will have a huge impact on the well-being of our children & grandchildren. Man has released massive amounts of CO2. CO2 is a well-documented green-house gas. The earth's mean temperature has shown a strong correlation with atmospheric CO2 levels. You may believe that climate change isn't happening or that it isn't due to human burning of fossil carbon. Your belief, however, isn't based on science. It's based on economics, or ideology, or some misinformation you've been exposed to.
