This is a perfect blue print of what Coach McCarney is trying to do here. He and Bill have been friends for a very long time. I personally watched K-State go from the worst program in college football to almost playing for a national championship. Fans are a huge part of this process. I had no affiliation to North Texas until November of this year. It all started with a basketball game. I am now 100% behind this program and make every effort to attend any events tied into it. This type of support is what needs to happen in order to build this program. I hope many people read this and fully understand how important it is to back this rebuilding process. Just think one day we can all say hey I was there when this started just like I can say about the process K-State went thru.

I bought this internet "program" for my computer. The game is hard, but I did end up beating the final boss.

The bookstore has a small section of Nike clothing. They had two Nike caps, green one in the pic, and a black one with the Nike emblem on the back. The t-shirts were gray. I did not see any Nike polos at the bookstore, just some left over Under Armour, Cutter Buck, etc. A clerk told me more of the Nike stuff was coming after they know more about the team's uniforms and sideline apparel.

I was looking at the pdf from a few years ago showing the concept of the new stadium. The concept is pretty close to what we have. I was very interested in the suite concept. In the suite there is a tv and pictures of the UNT football team. What's interesting is the uniform is not what it was during the Dodge era. It has a green helmet, green uniform, white pants. There's little to no piping. In fact, they look old school sort of like ... Alabama. Hmmmm ...

Does it really matter if UTA has a larger enrollment. They don't play football and probably won't for years. They will end up in the same baot as La Tech concerning travel costs except they will get to play TSU-SM and their 8,000 fans and UTSA that hasn't even snapped a ball yet. It's just a Texas version of the Southland, which is a better league than the WAC from top to bottom. Besides, when did football become a favorite sport of Asians?

I'd order one right now. I ordered from MeanGreen and had no issues, for a while they were the only one with the shades of green Texas flag. I always went by and picked it up and they at least carried UA polos when no one else did. I don't really care where I have to buy it from, I'd just like to see game worn apparel and sideline apparel available for purchase. It shouldn't be this hard.

I saw that one and the black one when my son and I went in there this week. I tried it and the black one on. I really wished I had picked up that green one. I also love the plain style cap that is not all tricked up with crap and junk all down the side or on the bill. I wear a plain black one similar to the new Nike cap all over the place and people compliment it quite frequently. It was UNT Bookstore cap as well I purchased back in the Summer of '07. It's been to the top of Kitty Hawk launch site, to the Shuttle Vehicle Assembly Building and various NASA Centers, Civil War Battlefields, and has white paint on the top of it where I hit my head at Appomattox Courthouse. Everywhere I wear around the country people ask me if I'm Mean Green. Just my way oftrying to extoll the greatness of North Texas. It my be time for a new one however.

Changing states is no big deal but moving out of the country and changing your citizenship is. Besides most other countries other than third world ones have even higher tax rates. ---Was the economy and the budget really bad in the 90's when the rate was 20% (less than what a lot of working people pay after deductions now) .... Capital gains could be kept at 15% for the first $100,000 or so of profit to help the smaller investors.. but for those making millions or 10's of millions each year paying 15% is unbelievable since most of us would pay more that that on any pay increase we would receive.... maybe not our total tax bill since much of the early money earned has no tax due to deductions but on increases which really defines what "bracket" we are in. This is why those with very small income pay little or no tax tax... deductions are more than income.... and I would not want to be them since they can barely pay basic expenses. True a lot of us got a small tax decrease in 2002? but many of them often paid millions less and paid a samller rate than you do. ---Wake up to what really happened. The proposed tax increae last December would have done nothing to you unless you earned $250,000 (net) or more and then only on the amount over $250,000. You bought a bill of goods by those who opposed it.. it only helped the "super wealthy" (big contributors) to any extent. It makes a lot of sense for the super wealthy to contribute a fortune to politicians if they save them even more in taxes... they come out ahead.. We get the best government (for them) that money can buy.

Amen. Plus 1 for you, Sir. And, contrary to some other posters, I do not see a Leach hire as a sure thing in selling out the stadium. I think Coach McCarney is a much MUCH better overall selection for UNT than a Leach hire ever would have been. If Leach is so great, why is he still in the broadcast booth? Lots of teams have looked for and hired new head coaches since Tech did the right thing and fired the guy....Maryland, Ohio State, etc., etc., etc.

Leach is a rogue. Hiring a rogue head coach was the last thing that North Texas needed at that point in time - well, actually, at any point in time! All of the perceived benefits of hiring him would not have been worth the angst that would have undoubtably arisen. Winning is important - winning the right way, and with class, is far more important.

Sure, because having no experience at QB, thin lines on both sides of the ball, and losing your best receiver, all while bringing in a new system under a new head coach usually means at least 5-6 wins in the first year of the new coach. Since ULL and Arkansas State should also get to 5 wins (without any excuses) since they are also breaking in a new coach with teams that actually won significantly more than here at UNT for the last 6 years, the SBC is going to be STOUT!!

The only way the WAC becomes a good option is if it adds enough quality members that it can split into eastern and western divisions. That doesn't seen likely. The SBC is a lousy choice but it may be the only choice we have at present. It must be remembered that the best program in the SBC will never be considered anything better than mediocre by the rest of the world. It must be remembered that our university will be judged by the company we keep. In the SBC our 'peer' universities are third-rate athletic programs and 4th-rate academic schools. UNT needs to be doing everything possible to move up to something respectable. That's not the WAC (at least not right now) and it's certainly not the SBC.

Lance Dunbar, Zach Olen and Brelan Chancellor Although we've had a few key losses the emergence of Zach Orr, Will Wright, Brad Graham, and D'Leon McCord and the return of J.J. Johnson, Steven Ford, Dewaylon Cook, James Hamilton, and Will Atterberry. In spite of the loss of a likely Hall of Fame linebacker I think that you will really like the 2011 defense.

That part was laughable, but what's his end game for the attention at this point? Coach a gay team? Do some gay sports broadcasting? Get a free gay pass to the gay club? Find better inroads to the gay coke community*?I feel bad for some of you. People who push for higher corporate taxes so that the "little guy" doesn't take it in the shorts doesn't understand economics 101 stuff. There is NO SUCH THING as a business tax. Business pass ALL taxes onto consumers. Raise corporate taxes by 10%, and the prices at Wal-Mart go up 10%. Tax the oil companies an extra 25%, and the cost of gas will go up 25%. We should have NO corporate taxes, as they are hidden taxes that consumers and taxpayers pay for anyways. In the end, the END USER, not the business they buy groceries from, pay all of the taxes. Regarding pushing the Rich to pay more taxes, and those of you who support this, I have only one question - how much is enough. How much SHOULD they pay to be considered their fair share. When answering this, consider the following - The top 1% of the population earns 16.7% of the income in this country, and pays 39% of the tax burden. The top 5% of the population earns 31.2% of the income in this country, and pays 55% of the tax burden. The top 10% of the population earns 42.36% of the income in this country, and pays 66% of the tax burden. The top 25% of the population earns 64.86% of the income in this country, and pays 86% of the tax burden. The top 50% of the population earns 86.01% of the income in this country, and pays 97% of the tax burden. The bottom 50% of the population pays 3% of the tax burden. ...so the "SUPER-RICH" which are being targeted. let's call 'em the top 10%... already pay 66% of the TOTAL tax burden. How much of the total burden should they be responsible for? How much of their income should be taxed?

Man, it's just too bad that those folks in the Athletic Dept. are just sitting around not doing anything and not scheduling any events and activities for the Mean green Club members and all the Mean Green fans ( tongue in cheek firmly planted and dripping with sarcasm noted for the few who can't tell). This is great stuff as it signals the "official" start of the new season for this Mean green fan. can't get going soon enough. Yes I absolutely agree. Most people that want to "raise taxes on the rich" don't really understand what the rich are already paying. But I think its important to realize that washington has to work together to get anything done and right now they are far from doing that. Surprisingly the Democrats seem to support entitlement and welfare/medicaid cuts in return for closing some tax loopholes. Republicans are playing hardball and saying no to anything related to the word tax. We got people like Cantor putting on this show like his heart is breaking raising the debt ceiling yet he raised it under bush every time it was called to vote. And that was accompanied with ZERO spending cuts. My point is this. Reagan dropped taxes and the economy took off. He also closed tax loopholes and raised taxes in other areas. Why can't they do that now? They once spoke of 4 trillion over 10 years and now its down to 1.5 trillion simply because the republicans wont compromise. I just don't like our current strategy. Its more about elections than doing what's needed.

I'm tired of reading GMG posters be afraid of UTSA, Texas St and UTA. Do you really think that little of our program to see them as an immediate threat?? If you're afraid, then you have let them win. Jesus Christ football season can't come soon enough.

Funny - but I think it also benefits from perfect timing - something trying to be funny without completely insulting our intelligence hadn't come out in awhile and it had the comedy crowd all to itself when it only had to beat out Year One and Land of the Lost toget people who want a nice, dumb, amusing summer movie.

The second viewing bump is the key. I remember last summer chuckling at Tropic Thunder, but after watching it again, it really was genius. Forgetting Sarah Marshall did the exact same for me too.

This was unexpected good news for UTA. I'm somewhat surprised that there is not more talk about bringing football back as part of the deal, but perhaps that is a side issue until the long expected capital campaign finally kicks off. Football has long been viewed as the ultimate carrot that would figure in such a campaign, and I think that is how it will ultimately turn out. UTA has not hit its students with the large athletics fees like the UNT students agreed to, so that is another potential trick they could pull out of the bag once the decision is made to go bigger time. All along, I was hoping we would be going to the 'belt, as UNT is a natural rival for us, but frankly, the WAC institutions have better reputations, especially compared to our former SLC conference mates in La. Maybe in a few years the WAC will be good enough for UNT to give it another look.

The SBC is stable because conference teams have no place to go. The SBC isn't getting better, the WAC just got bad in a hurry. Our university needs to get out of the SBC as soon as possible. We're keeping bad company. Momma warned us about that.

So Just What Are Our Real Objectives & Aspirations Now That We Have A New Stadium? Same Thing We Did With The Super Pit For 30 Plus Years After It Opened? Hopefully.....Not. Almost seems one is reading a blurb about UNT--almost. And before Fall, 2011, enrollment numbers are in UTA has already ranked themselves ahead of North Texas? Some of us watched about 10 D-1 football programs back in the 70's that we were their equal or even ahead of run right by us like, uh,.........that road-runners cartoon except few of us were laughing. Is this what we have to look forward to in the next 2-3 years because other schools somehow stole our momentum red-handed? (1) UT-Austin (2) TAMU (3) UH (4) UT-Arlington (5) Texas State U (6) UNT If UNT powers wants to wear that new stadium as a medalion of accomplishment (which for one year could rightfully & deservedly be done); yet if some on campus think the new MGS will on its own create an upwardly bound FBS football program or market itself the next few years on its own because it's there--it won't. We all know our program well enough to know it won't; Great people create great FBS athletic programs and it does not happen by osmosis. The WAC's UTSA seems to have that cocky South Florida "get out of our way--here we come" attitude and will soon enough IMO have a better OOC home schedule than North Texas because they have the aggressiveness of a school that wants to prove it belongs. Yet at times we seem to be showing signs of being stuck in our Fouts Field-esque past with our M.O. At some point, something will have to give with that modus operendi because being the best in the Sun Belt thus far has mean't no Top 25 finishes for any of our football champions the last 10 years. Yet, UTSA has their Alamo-Dome and a great destination city. It would be easy to predict that Texas Southern U (NCAA D-II?) will not be on the future schedule of the Road Runners any time soon, either. They will undoubtedly do things to go upward a la South Florida as their model rather than using UNT's "50 year plan" model and our much of that time having no real goals or destination points but rather "look how many teams we are suiting out now"; and during the last 32 years our having numerous staffers whose performances were judged not on wins but how long they've done us a favor and stayed in Denton; we've had every shade of green under the rainbow and with every new regime we could always expect a new logo, a new eagle (except we are the Mean Green, or are we?) and even periodical campus wide new brandings to accomodate the desires of newbie staff members and many non-UNT graduated newcomers who................always knew what was best for our alma mater over any one that had actually graduated from North Texas. Our new stadium just gets us at the place we needed to have been at least a couple decades or so ago because we will never know all the many ways Fouts Field during that time cost us opportunities with a better conference, hence better recruits, better scheduling and maybe even better bowl opps, too, with Top 25 ranked opponents. Boise State proved to us so many things that we could have possibly duplicated at UNT the previous 32 years (except for our decade in & decade out albatross called Fouts Field) but BSU also had a formidable D1 football stadium in their program since the 70's; about the very time Fry left UNT for the Big 10 while leaving UNT literally stuck with Fouts Field another 32 years later. IMHO, the one thing that A.D. Fry could have done that he didn't was get us a new on campus stadium built when costs were not so exhorbitant. Yet........ never in my wildest dreams would I have believed that I would be 60 years of age before we would have a new football stadium in Denton, either. (It goes by faster than you willl ever want it to, Young Gun Alums, it really does). Still.......the best part now is that we have a chance to do something way outside our usual box and thats only because of the new Mean Green Stadium. I know many of us just hope all the pieces to our puzzle for UNT are in place for us to do some serious catch-up and with the new Mean Green Stadium for us to not get left behind (again) at the train station. And now isn't it amazing that we now have 3 new FBS Texas-based schools to contend with; 2 of which could pass us up in enrollment which is not the end of the world but we know the symbolism that that alone will create within the state most of us reside. Ever been to the race track and the horse that was supposed to win which you put your rmoney on limped out of the starting gates only to get surpassed by other horses that were supposed to not factor in that race at all? Still, the sports pages will report who won the race and who on paper was supposed to win but, shame, shame, shame.....it did not (and then the jockey had 100 other excuses as to why).

I don't think any one from UNT hates UTA whatsoever...it wasn't their fault that Karl Benson trumped us for not joining his league by adding them to his "on again-off again-on again" conference. I do look for UTA to add football in the next 5 years because of the WAC membership. Fact is for those of us who aren't old-theimer'ed out just yet that we remember how we played many close football games with UTA as I recall. Even in our last game with them during their last season Chuck Curtis's Maverick team gave us all we wanted. I think now would be a good time for them to change mascot names, too, since so many others have. (Come on, Duck, get back with your Prez' Spaniolo (sp?) on that. Tell him DFW already has a team called Mavericks albeit they stole if from yall, right? Even Hayden Fry's first game as NT coach UTA schooled us quite well at Texas Stadium. The game was not a pretty sight for those of us who always want good things to happen for the team in green, but those apple green unis' back in that day and Rick Spear's flying worm were real neat. I can sitll remember seeing them come onto the field in such colors in Fry's first game to coach at the "double F" word.
