Defense was ok. Not great, but not bad. Showed flashes of stopping the run. Secondary was aggressive in the run game. D-Line and linebackers need to get more involved. More pass rush also. But didn't give up any big plays. Offense 1st team looked good. Scored almost every possession. Running backs a little banged up so didn't see them all. Stone was with 1st team QB. Looked accurate. Ran the offense well. Good timing with receivers. Cash was 2nd team QB. Looked solid. Good arm, but a little late on a couple of throws. Ran the ball well when he had to scramble. Reese was 3rd QB. Didn't do much. Missed some receivers and completed a couple of short passes. Overall a good scrimmage. Looked better than this time last year. O-Line will be solid. Kicker made a 51 yarder during live scrimmage. So that's good. Saw Chandler Morris there watching. Not very big. Smaller than Stone. Will be interesting to see how things play out this summer.14 points

This doesn’t really change anything for me. We went on the road and beat a team that beat us earlier in the season. That always feels good.14 points

More sad days for Our Little Ponies as they terminated the coach who guided them to one of their most successful seasons they've experienced in three decades without subsequently getting slammed with probation. Stay Prissy Little Sissy!10 points

That was 7 away games and Kansas was at Texas Stadium. UAB was 1AA in 1995 and had been Division 3 until 1992. That homecoming loss was one of the most disappointing losses in my almost 50 years as a fan. Dan McCarney proved that it can get worse. No thank you. One good thing about that season was all games were telecast with Gil Brandt as one of the announcers. The come from behind victory over Oregon State is certainly a top highlight of my memories as a fan.9 points

I'm not mad at them for this L. When Seton Hall plays well they're a top 16 seed in the tournament. We experienced Seton Hall playing well. Good year riddled with injuries. Onto year 2. GMG9 points

Apparently, leaving North Texas is a losing proposition. Good news is Mac, Abou and TP are now free to watch us without distractions.9 points

If he is graduating with a degree from UNT best of luck. If he is leaving for greener pastures without a degree, I hope it turns brown and he falls flat on his face8 points

Sad to see him go but he has to do what's best for him especially if he didn't foresee getting sufficient playing time here. I loved when his father played at North Texas during the Jimmy Gales years, and his brother Bobo would have been best served if he had transferred here after committing to LSU and enrolling at UCLA. Baylor never provided him an opportunity to develop. Best of luck young man.8 points

I can't think of better news that could happen to the NT athletic program. Notice I didn't say WBB program.8 points

Kansas. Not one mention of us, other than the picture, coaches here, players, NIT championship, etc... No to the HOF8 points

Meh. 1 has starter minutes. Another has reserve minutes. The other 2 don't play. The rest of their team (contributors)... 6'6", 6'6", 6'2", 6'4". We'll be aight if we play our game and keep playing great gap help defense.8 points

This is fun getting to play some "Brand" teams. That's how you build your own Brand, by beating some along the way over multiple years!8 points

He's a 1st team All AAC, he wasn't playing in CUSA....he was playing in a much tougher league out of JUCO7 points

The best thing about having Hodge as a coach was he came from JUCO where they often have massive turnover year to year, which has now become the norm in DI too. I'm sure he was at least partially ready for this scenario.7 points

There's no recruiting dropoff. Hodge is likely more relatable than McCasland anyway. Coach Hodge brought in Edwards, Noland, Buggs, Walker & Allen over the last cycle. Also, Phil Forte, who is a good coach/recruiter. The two HS kids we have lined up appear to be nice players (Taylor ranked the #20PG in this class), and based on last year's success, I think it's safe to say he knows what he's doing when finding guys in the portal & JUCO.7 points

I can. We would have lost our coach to Michigan and feared for our future. FAU is still playing in a practice barn and might disappear into irrelevancy for a while...again. (And it'd be totally worth it!)7 points

Seton Hall was better today. Our guys never quit. We just couldn’t make the plays when they were there to be made. SH did. Proud of our team. GMG!7 points

This must be how Seton Hall played when they beat UConn. Based on some of their scores, they seemed inconsistent. This must be them hitting on all cylinders which makes them one of the better teams in the country.7 points

I am one of those weird art students and I will put my NT pedigree against any of you. Having said that, we need to spotlight fans at the games. Any organization that alerts the athletic department in a timely manner should be recognized at the game, either through announcements or on the video board. Many years ago we recognized the 'starting crowd at today's game' and all student organizations got a shout out. Also, bring back the idea of having alumni stand up and be recognized by decade that they graduated. Everyone likes some attention at the games. The bottom line is that whoever has the game day participation job at NT needs to eat, breathe and sleep North Texas. You guys have touched on some great ideas and many of them are quite doable if the departments works at it.7 points

I know a line hasn’t been set yet, but I am taking us no matter what. If we can’t beat a team wearing eye patches and with peg legs then we don’t deserve to be in the NIT.7 points

Good player and contributed a lot to this team. I wish him well!6 points

Without Edwards this year, I speculate NT would have lost about 5 more games. Now we lose the only first team All Conference player and many chime in that he was not that good anyway and we can do better. All those, that think he will be easy to replace and was really a liability; are simply basketball unaware. What many seem to forget is that opponents' defenses were for most part focused on stopping Edwards. This freed up the other players for more good shots. Many predicted this, he is a hired gun and that is the why he is at NT. I think NT will get a good replacement, but I want to thank Edwards for his year of play and wish him the best.6 points

Pointing out his liabilities is not really warranted, as we'd all be thrilled if he returned. It's not really fair to compare him to Perry either. They had different strengths, and Perry was here for 2 years & improved from year 1 to year 2.6 points

This one hurts. He is definitely talented. However, his ball handling skills need a lot of work. Often resulted in turnovers or bad possessions.6 points

This is AWESOME. Now, how do we get Rubin over to that copy machine?6 points

Heard Shane Porter got reps at RB and ran pretty well. Scored a rushing TD and 1 catching TD.6 points

Another walk off homer.....wins the game! 1-0 win. Great pitching by Skylar. The homer was by Mikayla.....and it broke up a no hitter (thru 6 2/3). Team is now 7-1 in league play. Our gals go for the sweep tomorrow at noon....at The Lace.6 points

Right. Their 2 bigs who actually contribute are 6'11 & 6'10. We have 6'10 Sissoko & 6'9 Allen. We'll be fine down there. Honestly, if there is a mismatch to be exploited, it's going to be AScott against whoever they trot out on him (likely Dre Davis). Defensively, it's going to come down to if we can contain their 3 good guards... any of whom can go off on any given night. Their PG, Dawes, has been hot over the past 2 games, while their top scorer, Richmond, has only put up 19pts over the same span (in 76 total minutes) on some pretty poor shooting. We're not really going to catch them off-guard with pace of play like we do alot of other teams. They're pretty slow as well, ranking in the bottom 1/3 in possessions/40min. They struggled with the 2 teams they played who are in our neighborhood defensively (UConn & Nova... of course, everyone struggles against UConn! 😂). These dudes can be had. Especially if they come in overconfident.6 points
