UNT annouces Series with Army

97and03

So we DON'T get Army in 2013. But Ball State does.

I wonder if West Texas A&M is available?

Are you sure that Coach Conley directly said it was Season Tickets only?

I am not sure how I get these email...I think because I am a member of the Mean Green Club. But this specifically says the event is/was open to the public.

I'm hesitant to mention this . . . but I find it strange that there is no mention of the kickoff cookout on the main page of the athletics website.

Hell, I didn't know it was today until I saw something about it on facebook the other day. There wasn't much hype around the board for it this year.

My group had a good time. I have to admit, I muttered as I was driving through hellacious Dallas to Denton traffic in the weather that UNT was cursed on things like this... In the end it was a nice event and kudos to the AD for rolling out the red carpet for those of us who made the trek. It was great to see the players signing autographs and what a great representation they are for the school and program. It was an event where you knew if folks made it they were the diehards and I always enjoy seeing the fans who have been there in the good and bad times. I brought some new folks tonight and they were blown away with the club area and the stadium itself. The traffic back home was easy street and I had a good thought -- I'll take a warm up event being in bad weather if it means we won't have a bad weather game day!! Thanks to everyone who made it. It's time for the real thing next! GMG!

Had a GREAT time at the Cookout last night! But, then always have a good time at UNT events...I guess I go with the attitude that it will be fun instead of going to look for something I can complain about. Met some new folks and new Mean green fans that I had not had the privilege of meeting before. One mentioned that he had heard about the poster event and was impressed that UNT had the sort of fans that would do this sort of thing voluntarily for the program. So, once more...to all who helped with that project...many thanks and your efforts are obviously not going un-noticed!

I thought the idea to move it to the Club Level was not so cool at first, but when the talks by RV and Coach mac started...at the announced time I might add...I thought it was a great idea. Really easy to hear and the crowd looked really nice filling up most of the Club level area...even in that weather. mac was his usual energetic self and RV made some comments regarding future schedules and joining conference USA that I thought were excellent. One comment that had me laughing to myself the rest of the evening was the fact that TCU is playing Grambling at home this year! I did not know that and it just made me laugh knowing all the comments that have been made about UNT opening with Texas Southern. Made my event...well, that and all the great Mean green fans I saw and talked with. Got to chat with some players and coaches including Mike Petersen, our new women's basketball coach.

Saw Mean green fans there from Tyler, Allen, Ennis, Grand Prairie, Carrollton, Dallas, Ft. Worth, etc. who braved the weather to make the event. Heck, lots of Mean green fans there with kiddos...even so small that they still ride in strollers...good to see you Lucas! I hope they enjoyed the evening as much as my bride and I did. Even my bride, not one to love such events as much as I do, talked about how much she enjoyed this one...that's in spite of the fact that the Pope never did make an appearance (sorry...some will get that comments, others not so much). But, I'll take Mac, RV and Mike anytime!

Overall...a great way to spend a rainy Saturday evening in Denton. My sincere appreciation to all who braved the elements and made their way to Apogee last evening...if anyone sees the Pope tell him he missed a great evening! :goodjob:

Thanks to RV and Company for another fun evening with the Mean Green Nation!

We had a great time. My kids were wild and all over the place. After meeting scrappy again and after they saw the stuffed Scrappys in the team store, they had to have one each. Didn't get to talk with many of you since I was wrangling my kids but hope to see you all this season at tailgates and games.

Go Mean Green

There was a thread dedicated to the cookout that gave all the pertinant info several weeks ahead of time right here on GMG.Com. Really sorry you didn't see that.

There isn't a Mean Green fan alive who would have a problem with us scheduling Grambling at home . . .

. . . if in that same year, our home schedule also included Virginia, Iowa State, Texas Tech, K-State, and OU.

There was a link about it on the main page at one point, but as new news came up regarding scrimmages and other sports, it eventually cycled off. Here is a link to the page that the link went to: http://www.meangreensports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=205563035&DB_OEM_ID=1800

What world or alternative universe are you living in these days????? We have Mean Green so-called fans who can find something to complain about at every turn.....wrinkled $100 bills and all.
