  1. Past hour
  2. several offers dropped as soon as he hit the portal grad transfer with two more years
  3. Then what is the best BBQ joint in Houston?
  4. It works both ways. There are plenty of super talented guys in the portal from P5's that will need playing time. UNT should be well positioned to find players in the portal that are in need of PT and a chance to play closer to home.
  5. Today
  6. This decision was decided in the courthouse, not the NCAA, who has little power left.
  7. This guy was on our coaching staff the last few years and is now TE coach at Abilene Christian. This X post is a little strange but the message seems to be come to ACU and he will help them make big NIL somewhere else. If that is his message at ACU, it was probably his message here.
  8. Just make P5 professional (paid) and G5 amature...once you've signed a P5 contract you ain't going back to G5. Consequences for your actions....just a thought.
  9. It looks like unlimited transfers are going to be approved across all sports with no sitting out. The only condition will be that you cannot transfer mid-year in a sport and play for two schools in the same academic year. Supposedly, this will be tied to maintaining educational levels that are supposed to ensure the student is on the way to completing school. Total Bull Shit! Not one person, including presidents of universities, gives a crap whether or not these kids are graduating from school. We all bitch about the NCAA, but remember, the NCAA is controlled by the college presidents. I cannot wait till some of these kids who transfer 4 times in a five-year career start suing because they never got a degree. TWO TERMS THAT SHOULD NEVER BE USED AGAIN Student-athlete "For the good of the game"
  10. When it comes to good BBQ, don't tease! LOL! Where is Joseph's Riverport BBQ?
  11. We brought in guys to replace him. We should be pretty set at safety and CB.
  12. I've attached a couple of Orlando Sentinel articles written on the day he was hired at UCF. Steve Sloan.docx
  13. We can b!tch and moan all we want...but schools have 3 choices: 1. Change it 2. Complain about it 3. Adapt to it Won't be long (if they're not doing it already) before coaches start telling kids "You didn't get that P5 offer you wanted, come here and we'll develop you and then help you get there." Coaches used to say that to kids wanting to go pro. Now instead of: "I'll help you get to the NFL" it may be: "I'll help you get to Alabama." They're being forced to start thinking about players as 2 year players instead of 4 year players. So that coach is technically correct...G5s are now on a juco time table: 2 year plan vs 4 year plan.
  14. Joseph's Riverport BBQ, but he has mentored the Bodacious guys in Longview.
  15. Interesting results from an anonymous survey of DFW high school football head coaches in The Athletic. One of the questions was to name the best college assistant coaches at recruiting. Patrick Cobbs was our only coach mentioned. And he was mentioned multiple times. Here is another quote from a DFW high school head coach that I found interesting and true unfortunately: “The Group of 5s are now junior colleges. If your kid is all-conference, he ain’t coming back. He’s gone, and you know he’s gone. They have to change their thinking for how they build their programs. They have to tell kids, “Come here, play a couple years and you’ll be gone.” They have to just be good with that. They’re not going to stay around.” Link to article: https://theathletic.com/5422366/2024/04/18/dallas-texas-high-school-recruiting-confidential/?source=user_shared_article
  16. Almost all of these are wrong. Truth definitely isn't the best BBQ in Houston.
  17. Also, I guess if we get to claim 407, we have to let smu claim cattleack, even though it is much farther away from the school than 407 is.
  18. Not just any Bodacious. On Moberly. Another East Texas spot will probably at the worst be on the honorable mention section if not top 10, on the next list. B4 bbq in mabank.
  19. Not the game I expected to see. Team seemed in awe of the mighty aggies. Childers, I thought was NT's best pitcher early; now she looks like she has lost her confidence. The game was far from meaningless, it was a chance to demonstrate that NT is a quality team. It did just the opposite.
  20. Averaged 4.7 pts, 2.4 rebounds, 17 minutes a game for a 14-19 La Tech team With NT already with 2 hs guards signed, and most of last year's guards with eligibility left, I wonder about this signing.
  21. This sounds like a marriage counseling session that went off the rails. Nobody needs to be reminded when the season starts that they declared their intention to quit supporting the school during the offseason. Everybody knows supporting UNT is like herpes. You think it's finally gone and it flares up again.
  22. financially? ha...oh goodness no. I spend my money on travel, music, drugs, golf, art, fine food & drink and my various charitable pursuits. like an interesting person. as a fan, sure. and I like the rest of you will be right back here supporting in the exact same way you have for 10, 20, 50 years. you'll be saying how ________ is the best PG or PF we've had here in decades, you'll rationalize away your "hate" for the portal with the fact that ________ is on his third school (at least until he transfers out at the end of next year) and you'll go on supporting the laundry because its what you do. the piety is boring so just stop. you never cared about the kids, just how they made you feel about your school...because that's somehow super important in your social circles
