  1. Past hour
  2. I've said this exact thing for years. Those NFL-lite and NBA-lite schools need to separate completely. Move on to their New Minor League setup. And let the rest of us compete against peers in a structure that makes sense, from a cost standpoint. I would love to have UNT in a league that has the current AAC, MWC, CUSA, MAC, and SBC schools, as well as the former power programs that get left behind, like Washington State and Oregon State have already experienced.
  3. either way....it seems that there is no longer going to be a middle ground. And UNT and it's alumni need to decide which way they're going to go. Either go all in....or drop. We can't just sit and stay afloat....unless there is some sort of official break. That seems to be our only hope. Let the top 40 schools form their own thing and then the rest of us go regional. That's really our only option and if that doesn't happen then it's time to decide if throwing any money toward "big time" football is worth it. I challenge anyone to come up with a justification for it. Basketball is still there for the taking and much less expensive to operate.
  4. No way that Edwards should be that high. Would not be in my top 10. Definitely good player, but Edwards over Perry, Bell, Jones; he is not even close to their level.
  5. No shortage of “NIL Certified Agents” tricking these families when such thing doesn’t exist.
  6. I don't understand the debate. When people say there is so much to do in DFW in comparison to other places when excusing our poor alum turnout for basically everything... like what? What is there to do? Something that is unique to DFW that keeps our alum so occupied event after event? To isolate it further to Denton is laughable... Speaking on ABQ specifically, the only benefit UNM has over UNT is there are no professional sports to get behind. But generally from my experiences, most people are typically diehard college OR pro fans. Not a lot of diehard both. Outside of that, give me AQB. Better city with more actual things to do, especially if you're an outdoorsman. Way prettier. Deeper rooted in culture. I mean, I guess if you like cities developed on top of former prairieland, farm fields, and cow pastures then DFW is definitely for you.
  7. Maybe it was a reference to our NIL offer? Maybe we were offering a certain % of donations and he wanted a firm dollar amount? The NIL negotiations going on right now are bananas: it is a new thing, the market is hidden, rumors, unregulated, lots of shady middle men, people who have never negotiated anything in their life… Probably lots of lessons being learned on all sides.
  8. I didn’t feel the need to include the most recently completed season since it was in your post directly above mine. I disagree with the remainder of your post. Good programs survive coaching changes.
  9. Well, he was certainly in line to be that guy this coming season.
  10. Overprotective Parent Speak translation - My son should have been the center of Coach Hodge's universe. He should have had all plays run through him and had a say in all team activities. After all, my son is great!
  11. Today
  12. She makes it sound like CJ felt Coach Hodge was not 100%-honest (transparent) with him. I can't imagine that being the case, as Coach Hodge seems to be very up front & open with his players.
  13. That's weird, I guess the most recently completed season doesn't count? I'm sorry Lifer, but everything prior to 21-22 (when Pitino showed up at UNM), and honestly, prior to 23-24 (when Hodge took over at UNT) needs to be removed when comparing the two teams for players who are actually playing RIGHT NOW. Those other programs belonged to different people. When talking about recent success for dudes who are considering playing for both schools, the only thing that matters is this past year and future predictive success (re: momentum). Unfortunately, NT is on the wrong side of both of those factors as of right now.
  14. You find a network who will give you numbers based on various hypothetical scenarios.
  15. I didn't know there was such a thing, are these club sports?
  16. For a post about transparency, that is pretty vague. Next…
  17. You've got two SMU guy's, working their asses off in this thread, trying to encourage us to quit mopping and get busy. Things must be really bad over here, but, I for one, appreciate your effort.
  18. Been a lot of DL offers going out. Maybe they were encouraged to leave to make room?
  19. My point is the place isn't just a lousy city where nothing is going on (which has been used both to say there is nothing but basketball to do there or why would anyone go there) like has been bandied about. More people visit there for tourism in a given year than Denton probably gets in ten.
  20. Noland didn’t choose ABQ for national monuments, tramways or winter entertainment.
  21. Albuquerque has a lot of tourism videos out there. Hell, my wife and I just went through there recently and stopped at Petroglyphs National Monument and took the Sandia Tramway. I LOVE Denton, but Denton doesn't have a National Monument or a tramway that goes up to 10,300 feet to watch the sunset. Albuquerque also an hour away from Santa Fe which is a great place to visit. Would I rather live there than Denton? No. But I can see why many would and I can definitely see why a 20 year old would.
  22. Maybe he put the seat down. Again, the lesson to work hard and move up the depth chart is lost in these kids. It has become, “Don’t get what I want, move along to somewhere else”.
  23. A Tallahassee judge has ordered Florida State and the Atlantic Coast Conference to enter mediation in hopes of settling a high-profile lawsuit that could dramatically impact the future of the league. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/40000227/judge-orders-florida-state-acc-mediation-settle-suit
  24. Interesting. So, are there any P5 benefits left for the PAC-2 to dangle? And how does the PAC-2 request media rights bid proposals for an unconfirmed conference membership? Schools #1-10 = x value, schools 1-6, 8-10, + 12 = y value, and so on?
  25. You have a billion alumni. You don't need mega donors like we do to play the game at the AAC level. $1,000,000 would make a massive impact. That $100 from 10,000 alumni. That's doable. You can't even take a family of four out to a decent restaurant for that much. Or $50/month from just 1600 people. Find players looking to move up or down and sell them on coming back local to DFW so momma can watch him play. Give him some basic NIL. That's all you need.
