By now you’ve probably read the news that UNT’s starting junior Quarterback Giovanni Vizza has chosen to transfer out of the program.  Like many of you, this was shocking although not completely surprising news.  This program has been in a virtual tailspin for close to four years now and the loss of Vizza may be the toughest blow to date.  It would be very easy for a North Texas football fanatic to jump off the closest building right now but I do believe there are some reasons for hope or dare I say optimism for the coming season. While grabbing my mail today I came across the winter edition of UNT’s alumni magazine, The North Texan which promotes the “New Stadium” on the front cover.  I threw the bills to the side and almost ripped the cover off trying to get to page 14!  The article, “New Stadium - a winning version for the future”  - which focuses on “…student commitment to the legacy of UNT through their vote to pass the referendum…” was interesting to me in a paradoxical sort of way.   Continue Reading »
