Institutions are required to submit capital projects greater that $1 million planned for the FY2013-2017 schools year. I was looking over the plan and saw some interesting requests:

New Construction Baseball Stadium 12,000,000

New Construction Construct Track and Field Stadium 5,600,000

New Construction UNT Hotel and Conference Center 82,500,000
New Construction Visitor's Center 2,500,000
In total UNT is undertaking $817,370,000 in construction projects!!

What are the other projects that are contributing to the $817,000,000?

Is this all supposed to be done by 2017? or is this just to let them know of future projects coming up?

Therefore, this report refers to capital projects that will be undertaken during the FY 2013 –
FY 2017 reporting period, but may be financed in FY 2018 and beyond

Awesome.

I'd love to see this list in an 'Order of Priority' for the University.

@Cerebus, thanks. Hopefully they get built sooner rather than later. Especially the expansions to the sciences, we are going to have a nice little science cluster up by the Environmental Education, Science, and Technology building. Which should turn to a better reputation as a school and hopefully more research.

Wouldn't this (as well as the law building renovation) show up on different lists? Cerebus only provided the Denton campus expenditures.

Institution: University of North Texas at Dallas

New Construction School of Pharmacy and Health Professions 55,000,000

Institution: University of North Texas System

Repair and Renovation Renovate Old Dallas Municipal Building & Annex 72,000,000

Note: Muni building is the future site of the UNT@D College of Law.

$12 million for a baseball stadium should bring in a pretty solid facility.

Purdue just spent $10 million for their facility http://www.goldandblackbaseball.com/new-baseball-stadium.cfm

I still don't think it can fit across the street from Apogee though. The drainage creek is an obstacle for sure.

Think a RF Green Monster. Hello lineup loaded with lefties.

Unless they decide to build the 3B side of the stadium all the way up against Bonnie Brae.

Exciting to see. Sure would be nice if the populace of Denton would take a look at these numbers. $1 Billion dollars directly into the local economy thanks to UNT. Not to mention the future dollars said improvements will bring to town.

Of course The University could save a ton by scrapping the science cluster and just build a small chapel instead.

New Music Building 50,000,000

New Sorority Building 4,500,000

Vote yes for both of these. I think that both of these should be placed right behind the athletic buildings in regards to priority.

I'll never forget one day my freshman year I was walking to a bio or chem class from Clark Hall, and it began just pouring, so I thought I'd duck into the music building, cut over and come out over by the admin building, right across from the bio side entrance since I knew there was a door over there... Needless to say, I was totally lost for about 5 minutes in that monstrous, nonsensical building.

If we're going to hang our hat on the music program, I'm fine with giving them a building to rival the new business building.

FREE AT LAST!!!

I can't wait to start seeing some more concrete of a timeline on all of these. If I was a betting man, I would put money on the baseball announcement coming during the press conferences about officially joining the CUSA this fall. Does no real good PR wise to push it mid-semester unless they have all the kinks worked out and a full scale set of renderings and architecturals. If they slip it out during the CUSA hoopla they can discuss it in a future off UNT athletics tone and only have to maybe throw out a conceptual drawing..

The populace will look and see if it increases traffic, noise levels, lights, rowdy outsiders etc.

Not a slam at NT, but I think a lot of colleges need to rethink the money they are spending.

Traditional education is pricing itself out of the market. All those government backed loans have kept colleges going, but at some point I am afraid that is going to come to a crashing halt. It makes no economical sense to spend thousands of dollars on degrees that there is no market for.

There are already many predicting that the educational loan bubble could be as devastating as the housing debacle.

Even if that does not happen, I see a focus away from brick and mortar facilities to online education that is going to leave an over supply of facilities and to some extent educators.
