3. Be DISCIPLINED enough to be quiet during the snap count when UNT is on offense.  When Mason is flapping his arms up and down, he’s not doing an eagle gesture to get the crowd pumped up.

This one really grinds my gears, too. This used to happen at the Cowboys games. I get the excitement, but come on!  I usually end up shushing the people in my section.

How our fan base largely still doesn’t get this is shocking. NDSU does it better than any fans I’ve ever seen. When they’re on offense you could hear a pin drop before the snap. On defense it’s deafening for every single down.

2. Be TOUGH enough to yell at the top of your lungs on defensive 3rd downs and spirit chants (especially the NORTH TEXAS chant @Harry captured above.)

I lost my voice at the end of the first SMU possession when Hicks was acquainted with our new turf.

A decade+ of vocal training, technique, health, et al out the window all at once. Super raspy for my radio show Sunday. Been recovering these past two days since.

But you know what? Totally worth it.

The fact we've been playing football for over a century and don't know the basic fandom rules drives me crazy. This is the first time I sat on the alumni side and as I have always done; I stood the entire game and was without voice at the end. I was asked and talked about to sit down so they could see. ( I'm 6'0 not Shaq). This was my one and only complaint of the night, this will get better with prolonged winning but still an issue.

Well for a long time the cheerleading squad would try to get the crowd loud when we were on Offense, not kidding it would kill me.

The cheerleaders need signs that say "SSSSHHHHHH" for when our offense approaches the line.

Ah, the age-old “stand or sit” dilemma. I’m all for fans displaying their enthusiasm, as long as they are not negatively impacting another fan’s game experience. So, stand if you wish, but at least look around you to see if there are fans behind you who can’t stand for long periods or at all.

And they need to turn that crap down.

Man...is it possible the PA is even louder?or am I just getting older?

It was ear drum shattering. What is the point of having that so loud? Crowd noise? Hey make your ear drums bleed. But good gosh....I don't understand why those speakers have to be so loud...it doesn't add anything to the game experience.

Posting this again, SMU’s head man towards the end of the 3rd quarter last Saturday...will it be a long inaugural season for the Dykes era in Dallas?

“Come to SMU they said.  It’ll be worth the money they said.  Geez, I hope some FCS jobs are open after this season, cuz this place sucks”
