We're signing kids who haven't even set foot on campus.

Just FYI....UConn star and projected first round draft pick DeAndre Daniels never set foot on the UConn campus before signing with them. Seems to have worked out pretty well. You can watch the guy in the national championship game tonight.

Not comparing skills at all, but if your criteria "must" is a visit before signing those UConn folks better think about firing that idiot coach they have.

I think everyone knows the difference in what is going on at UConn and what is going on at UNT.

Everyone that cares, that is.

True. When Daniels committed I'm sure all the UConn fans were thinking "What?! Darn. I was really hoping he would choose Kentucky over us. Why would we accept a commitment from a player rated that low, with that weak an offer sheet without him having set foot on campus?"

You mean just the bitchers or everyone that actually cares? You know those that continue to buy season tickets, attend games, etc., as well as those who support the players by not attending games, etc. Yes, everyone who cares knows the difference...thanks for completely missing the point.

Justin Jackson out of Houston is the 10th ranked high school player in the class of 2014, according to Rivals (just like Deandre Daniels was!). 5 star talent, committed to North Carolina. If he decided to come to North Texas, I'd be thrilled, whether he made a campus visit or not. Any coach that wouldn't take an LOI until after he hit campus would be an idiot.

I am substantially less excited about a sub-6' JUCO guard with zero D1 offers two weeks before late signing period.

Also... I didn't see the word "must" in anything CBL posted in this thread. If he said it was an absolute necessity, then I suppose I have, quite literally, completely missed his point.

Wait... So did we sign Daniels and Jackson or not?

An excellent question... We did not.

HOWEVER! We did land two guys from the backcourt of Tyler JC, which went 14-14 overall and 7-12 in conference. So... Get fired up!

One of our guys is in this video:

NOTE: We did not get the guy dunking from the free throw line. We got the guy jogging backwards with a face full of balls, then falling down.

The note had both army of mom and I laughing out loud.

Thanks

Don't think CBL needs any help in defending himself, he does a pretty good job of that for himself, but thanks for taking the bait while CBL just sat this one out for awhile. And, of course you missed the point...often do.

Here's the point, as I understood it:

UCONN landed a guy who never visited their campus, and he's worked out well for them. If the no-visit signing is good enough for Kevin Ollie, then Benford can do it, too.

If I missed it... Please state the point for me in one sentence. Hell, make it two if you need to.

Though, it can be fun to take one tiny, tortured similarity between wildly different basketball situations and imply obvious conclusions.

Watch how I do it:

Todd Eaglin is a JUCO player who played two years of basketball for a team in NJCAA Region XIV. He'll be a Junior next year playing D1 basketball for a Texas school, and he has a teammate who will also be a Junior that transferred from a different D1 school.

Am I saying absolutely and unequivocally that Todd Eaglin is another Carlton Dotson, and that he's definitely going to murder Maurice Aniefiok?

Not comparing criminality at all, but if your criteria "must" is a very, very slight overlap in circumstances to imply sweeping conclusions, we better think about firing that idiot coach we have.

but when someone else does it so wonderfully...and dare I say far better than I ever would have...then I have no problem just putting my feet up and reading quite possibly the best thing ever written. Ever. Not just on GMG.

Best thing ever written? What a low opinion of your own work. I guess I gave you way too much credit. Never had you pegged as a follower. Guess I was wrong. Carry on.

Even if I spelled it out for you in VERY simple words you would miss it. Why try. It would be like trying to explain a republic form of government to Putin and thinking he would actually listen. But, thanks for grabbing that bait so quickly.
