Here are five quick thoughts following UNT’s win over Nicholls State on Saturday at Apogee Stadium.

1. UNT has found its quarterback

There were a whole lot of question about Dajon Williams and if he is ready to become the Mean Green’s starting quarterback heading into the weekend. Williams has started just one game, but appears more than ready. Williams accounted for five touchdowns against Nicholls and will only improve from this point forward.

Oh, look, another indirect backhand from Brett. If DW sees his career through here at North Texas Derek Thompson will be a blip on the map. DW is the best QB UNT has had in a long, long time. He will make mistakes, but let's not undermine his talent with cheap shots. You are the ambassador to the public (casual fan) for Mean Green football. Let's build the hype that is and not what was. I didn't see any cheap shots or backhands. And for the record (pun intended), he is notan ambassador for UNT, but is a journalist employed by the local paper, not the university.

Unofficial ambassador*** He applied to that position with the full understanding that he was covering UNT athletics. Believe it or not people still read hard copy newspapers. My interpretation of this particular writing was, "nothing to see here folks, move on." Just my interpretation.

Dodge deserves all the bashing in the world that could come his way. DD took about as much bashing as Dodge ever did with far superior results!!! I don't want to rehash anything about these 2 former coaches because Mac and his staff are about to blow the doors off the buick no w that Mac has decided to go with an extremely talented all be it young and a lot to learn in DW!!!

UNT football has the opportunity to become nationally relavent with DW at the helm provided he matures as a QB in the way I know he can and avoids injury over his career. If there was ever a time to start or contenue to drink the "Mean Green Kool-Aid it's NOW!!!
