I'm all about making money. I'm all about the owners of this site running some ads to help pay the bills, even maybe put a bit back in their pockets if humanly possible. I'm OK with all of that.

...but it's about the (rather regular) ads for the DCCCC, Texas Wesleyan, WGI and I think one other I saw. ...on a board for NT Students and Alums. I'm not here asking, demanding or even suggesting the admins take 'em down, but am I the only one that's sort of bothered by that?

Almost posted this in the Pie forum, but it's a free for all in there.

Gents, I'm not complaining, just asking if there is a way to pull in the same revenue without promoting other schools? Does the banner program you're on give you that type of flexibility?

...this may be a total non-issue to 99% of the folks on here, and it certainly won't keep me away, but I'd rather see a UNT banner than a WGU one.

Thanks for listening.

This has come up before but the reality of it is we use google ads and there are a plethora of schools buying space for advertising their online degrees etc. there is a mechanism to block ads but it is domain driven and with all of the schools that are popping up it would be very difficult to maintain. I'll give you a quick example, when the Longhorn network came out we were bombarded by their advertising ( they evidently spent a fortune) and I tried to block their domain. Well next thing you know they just launched an ad campaign from another domain and the ads were back.

I would submit to you that most of the other college sites out there use google ads to defray expenses and have this same issue. In fact spend a few minutes on Meangreensports and you will see what I mean.

If there is a particular school ad that you are having an issue with please send me a PM and I will see if we can try to address that for you.

No, Harry, nothing like that at all. It was just the promotion of other schools not so much any particular school. I don't want you to change a thing, I was simply asking if it were easy and it wouldn't impact revenue. Since obviously it isn't and would, then consider my question withdrawn. THANK YOU for such a prompt and honest response.

...and for everything else you and the team do!

The Longhorn Network spent their money well - UTSA had more games on it last year than Texas...dopes.

Harry, does GMG receive payment from ad clicks or just for the hosting of the ads on the site? Although I have a huge aversion to clicking ads, I would change my policy while using this site if it helps you out in any way.

Thanks for asking. We do generate some ad revenue from the Google ads which helps us to cover our costs. So if you see an ad that is of interest we really appreciate you clicking it. Also we have some local advertisers like Kokjohn Deep snapping who we encourage you to support in any way that you can.
