John Odoh will not end up at UNT. Forrest Robinson has been released. PJ Hardwick and Keith Coleman will take those spots.

UNT will not release John Odoh to LSU. Like I just tweeted, Keith Coleman will take his spot.

Sounds to me like maybe Odoh didn't want to come here after the coaching change? If that is the case, I say release him to teams not on our schedule or in this case LSU as well.

Why would we not release him to LSU? Oh well. I hope Mr. Odoh lands in a good place. Preferably not with an SBC or C-USA school.

What a fool. Why would someone NOT want to be on a team that is loaded like this one? Go figure.

I think usually it's 50/50 when a coach leaves to take another job whether the school would block a signed player from following the coach. I think schools like to prevent this to keep the coach from poaching all the schools quality recruits leaving the old school in a bad spot.

Based on shot selection, I think we swapped post for post...guard for guard...

Am I the only one who thinks Robinson was way over rated? Not a loss at all imo

I honestly could care less if Odoh went to LSU or a school on our schedule. I'd actually prefer it so he gets to see first-hand what he's missing out on. And I've said a hundred times before that I wasn't really sold on Odoh being a sure-fire starter. If he was half as good as most on here suspected, then he would have had a lot more offers, especially at his size. I don't feel it's a big loss, and I think his replacement Coleman will be a better player anyways. As for Robinson, he still has a long way to go in his development. He needs to gain about 30 pounds and get a lot tougher. I hold no ill will towards these players, and wish them the best, but I think their replacements are significantly better players ready to make an impact sooner rather than later.

He came in from a 3A school and played 96 total minutes, most of them in very short spurts, almost all of them on an injured leg that had him walking (to say nothing of running and jumping) with a noticeable limp.

Not much there to provide a solid basis for evaluation, in my opinion.

And when he had opened the fourth suit, I heard the voice of the fourth assistant coach say, Come and see.

And I looked, and behold a pale suit: and his name that wore it was Benford, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the court, to kill with substitution, and with haplessness, and with dishonor, and with the beasts of the not-actually-coaching staff.

Hmm... maybe UNT doesn't like that fact that JJ might have been trying to influence Odoh to come to LSU through his ties to his JUCO coach..

Interesting that we won't release Odoh, or at least to LSU.

Mr. Odoh letter of intent was with UNT not with the coach. UNT was willing to fulfill his commitment. Letters of intent must stand for something, you cannot release a player thinks he can get a better deal else where.

Were we?

Odoh never met our new coach, and our new coach seemed to have Coleman on speed dial as soon as he was officially given the job.

I don't know how it worked out... I don't think any of us do for sure. How sure are we that the school was willing to follow through on the LOI he signed?

Well, Robinson and Odoh are gone. Only time will tell if they are major loses. Colemen looks like a good pick up but I am not sure he is a world beater either. His numbers were not great on a mediore juco team and the new coach at Nebraka did release him while retaining several other jucos. With three years to play, he does appear to have a lot of up side, but it is far from a sure thing that he will turn out better than either of the players that NT lose in this shuffle.

Well actually a 2a school, but honestly the reason a player doesn't see PT is Bc he just isn't good enough. I know he is just a freshman, but we are in win now mode. He is a project, and quite honestly if he wants to go develop elsewhere more power to him. I'm glad Benford said don't let the door hit you! Robinson surely saw the writing on the wall. No PT next year.
