To the casual observer...those don't look like wings, they look like tailfeathers. I like the idea, but they should be shaped more like wings as opposed to tailfeathers. Just saying.
...or they could have just completed the bowl. It does look kind of cool, but I am glad it's not permanent.

If and when the stadium is expanded, there will be people screaming for some way to preserve the wingzone design....or they could have just completed the bowl. It does look kind of cool, but I am glad it's not permanent.
Book it.

It looks like they finished with the outline framing supports for the wingzone today. From Fouts it looked much more impressive than the drawing on paper.I think the "Wingzone" is starting to look as cool as the endzone in qwest field. It's unique and I'm really digging it. It looks amazing from the I-35 split. Maybe a new coach can give the team a closer look at the endzone seating too.

I'm pretty sure most of us are capable of being excited over both. I am. I'm excited about the prospect of having a real college football coach at UNT and I'm excited about the wingzone looking much better than it does in the renderings. It looks tough in person. No worries, just excitement.Let's get a good football coach first before we worry about the way the end zone looks. Seriously guys, that is so minor in the grand scheme of things right now.

Actually, it's not. This will be my 9th head football coach but only my 2nd NT football stadium. I will outlive the next coach being at NT, but probably not the stadium.that is so minor in the grand scheme of things right now.

I could be wrong, but what I got from listening to RV is that the winged endzone will always be there....or they could have just completed the bowl. It does look kind of cool, but I am glad it's not permanent.
When we expand an upper deck will be added to the student side and the gaps around the wing will be filled in, but the wing itself won't be torn down.
IMO, it would be stupid to tear the wing down because it will be the most recognizable part of our stadium. It would be like Fenway Park with no Green Monster!

Yep, I heard the same thing from an administrator here at the U. Wingzone stays. It looks great by the way. From the outside it looks like the Air Force wings. Big, metallic, and tough! I assume they will be painted green at which point they will look Big, Green, and tough! I think we will all grow to love 'em.I could be wrong, but what I got from listening to RV is that the winged endzone will always be there.

I think most people are under the impression that it will be torn out...and the non-permanence was the reason for it being made of metal.
Leaving it will cause two problems. Filling in the gaps with concrete stands will just not look right with the metal strucure in the middle, and the top tips of the wings sticking out might look strange. That is my mild OCD talking. The bigger problem is the tilt of the stands. From looking at the drawings and actual construction, the endzone seating is steeper than the sidelines.
If the wing stays when we complete the bowl, we cause ourselves a lot of problems if enzone expansion like TCU just did is ever needed. I just think that the number of seats in the tips of the wings would be better suited as sideline seating, and not suite level high endzone seats. For now though, it does look not look bad.
