North Texas head track coach Rick Watkins has added Dr. Robert Vaughan to the Mean Greenís coaching staff.
Vaughan will work with the Mean Greenís distance runners and cross country team. He fills the void left by Toby Reep, who left UNTís staff to take a similar position at Louisiana-Monroe.
Vaughn has worked for the last 20 years as an exercise physiologist at the Baylor Tom Landry Center, a facility that helps train national class runners.
ďPeople from all over the country would send their distance runners who were having issues or were looking for better ways to train to Dr. Vaughan,Ē Watkins said. ďHe also works with USA Track and Field in coaching education.
ďItís a great addition to have someone with that type of experience. It will help us bring more of the science of training into our distance program.Ē
Reep joined UNTís coaching staff as a volunteer assistant in the spring of 2004.
