I get Charlotte but just a few years ago we were complaining about not getting FAU and FIU. Now that FAU is good, we don't want them. Can't always have it our way.

Other than Charlotte and ODU (depending on how their QB develops), the East is tough. I'm just happy we also didn't get FIU or Marshall.

Its more, that UNT always gets them just when they turn the corner, never when they are still down.

Here is what I don't get: Why in the world is UNT playing SMU in the first week and Incarnate word in the second. In terms of timing this would be loooooaads better the other way around.

First it forces UNT to play an SMU team with a completely new coaching staff without getting any tape on them. It will be hard to guess in what way Dykes will execute his system exactly, while he will have a fairly good idea who will be executing what on UNTs side. That is a competitive disadvantage.

Second there is only downside to this attendance wise:

SMU doesn't need to be the opener to generate attendance. IW does. The way it is now, if UNT loses to SMU, attendance will be depressed for the second game. If UNT wins, IW is still an FCS and not the opener and people will simply expect a win they will not be excited to go see.

If it were the other way around, IW would be the opener and generate attendance that way and the guaranteed win would create guaranteed buzz for the SMU game.

We can play anyone, anytime, anywhere, in the shade, in the rain, in the snow.

We are the postal service of FBS.

on the flip side.....

We're playing an SMU team with a completely new coaching staff that has to implement some new things....they could be working out kinks in their first game. If we come out early and jump on them...it could be a long day for SMU. Meanwhile we have the offensive POY back running his 3rd year of the system with talent all around. Could be an advantage for us.

They say you improve the most between weeks 1 and 2...Let's get them in week 1.

I mean, they'll be running the air raid. How hard is that?

Arkansas is down, SMU is down, on top of 2 money games.. This is a potentially easy year, and honestly playing a tough program like FAU could be the signature game of the year..

We need to stop wanting powderpuff games and go play some legitimate teams..
