Does bring up a good question though, we have A LOT of OL guys. We picked up 7 in the last class and we've got 4 committed now in this class. Do we take anymore this year?

Our line was in shambles, and the offense won't go anywhere without a viable o-line. The rebuild was necessary to increase talent and depth when you're planning way more than 70 plays per game. Cast a wide net, if you will.

Agreed you just can't have enough of them.  Attrition is higher and you need quality depth.

I think that if we are going to pursue a lot of OL then we should factor that into the recruiting discussion. So far for C-USA only 3 schools have picked up a 3 star OL guy. WKU (.8025), LA Tech (0.7999), & ODU (0.7999). OL guys always get rated lower than CB/S/WR so then we should think about that when a larger part of our classes are OL than other schools who pick up more of those naturally higher rated players. Compare the OL guys we get to the OL guys other schools get and you'll see we're on par to the top half of other schools at recruiting OL.

I would rather find solid OL now and have them commit, and you work throughout the season to find skill-position guys.

This staff found Siggers, Darden, White within the last 7 to 10 days before NSD for the 2017 class. Start at the OL/DL and build back.

2016 they found guys like Nic Smith, Wilson, Rico as well late in the recruiting period, mostly because they were late getting here but the point is there is still quality skill players to be found late.

This is great news. Will he sign during the new early signing period in December?

I am willing to bet that's part of the conversation with a majority of our recruits.  Seth has been cherry picked several time last few classes.  The way you put a stop to that is have those guys sign in December then you don't have to worry about it. Lock up the class early and start on next years class (which we've already started on) but it allows you to hyper focus on those guys.

This is the way it should be done. Put all your eggs in these 2 baskets very early and go get some quality big dudes on OL/DL. Then fill in the gaps as the recruiting season progresses.

I would concur that this would seem to be a good approach. GMG
