Short of a deep run into the NCAA tournament I don't see how Benford is retained.

I want the team to make it to the conference tournament for the players, not for Benford's benefit.

So you want them to just go to the conference tournament, but just don't do too well when they get there.....

What do you mean I don't want them to do too well?

Quit trying to interject your personal agenda into my posts. Benford ain't getting an extension barring a basketball miracle.

I totally get that people want Benford gone but lets try to act like decent fans and not wish the team completely bomb the season. A losing record is already a given for this season making it four losing seasons out of five.

If Wren were to somehow favorably rate Benford to extend him, I don't think you'll find many people that will defend that position. If you're being honest with yourself, there is no way you could give him a positive evaluation other than none of his players have gotten into legal trouble and appear to be going to classes and making their grades. While things like that are important, Benford's overall record speaks for itself, coupled with the team's worst record under Benford.

If you were to think about it, if we were to extend Benford discussions between his agent and university administration would have already been announced. They would do this for the benefit of recruiting. While nothing has been publicly said about his status, it's pretty damning in and of itself that he has received nothing positive about his performance from anyone that has a say about his continued employment with North Texas.

      Doesn't seem new, but unlimited transfers

      I can't blame them, the system in place allows them to profit and to move freely. We may not like it, but it's the system. I'm hoping schools taking over the collectives, it's already happening for reasons I stated above, will usher in contracts and buy outs for players. We've opened Pandora's box so we aren't going back to amateur sports, the best we can get out of it is payment on our investments.

      Agree, there was some semblance of programs doing the right thing and following the rules even though they were always getting busted for violations, and everyone knew cheating was going on. It's why I was saying the veil is off now, and making everyone play by those rules has supercharged the whole thing. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the schools aren't supposed to work with NIL collectives to get players right? But everyone including UNT is 100% working with these collectives to send out deals to players. Same kind of fake rule following like we used to have, just more of it now.

      I’m not the type who’s going to say, “I’m done with college sports” and that be it. I’m moreso the guy whose interest is just going to wane to the point that I don’t watch anymore. It would actually free up a lot of time that I could be more productive🤣🤣

      I don’t completely disagree, but at least they used to have sit out a year if they transferred. If I’m going to lose a year of eligibility, I’m going to think long and hard before I leave for another school. Now? No reason whatsoever to stay.
