North Texas Announces Conference-USA Slate

The Mean Green Open The C-USA Schedule On Dec. 30 Against Charlotte

DENTON – Conference USA announced the 2016-17 league schedule Wednesday afternoon and the Mean Green begin the conference slate with a pair of home games against Charlotte and Old Dominion in late December and early January.

“We have a very competitive schedule and it will always be that way in this league,” head coach Jalie Mitchell said regarding the announcement. “It’s what I love about it, that you have to show up to play every single day. We are fortunate to be able to start conference play at home. We will visit four arenas that we did not play in last season and five others where we will have the opportunity to redeem ourselves. After non-conference play and the experience of our first year, I believe we will be ready to make a name for ourselves and improve our standing.”

Following a challenging non-conference schedule that concludes with a home date against Texas State, the Mean Green open league play with home games against Charlotte and Old Dominion, the 2015-16 C-USA tournament runner-up, on Dec. 30and Jan. 1, respectively.

North Texas then travels to Birmingham, Alabama, to battle UAB on Jan. 5, followed by a trip to Murfreesboro, Tennessee, to take on defending C-USA tournament champion, Middle Tennessee.

A three-game homestand follows, as the Mean Green host Rice, Southern Miss and Louisiana Tech in mid-January, before hitting the road again to play at Charlotte and Old Dominion to conclude the month.

Mitchell’s squad then heads to Houston to battle Rice on Feb. 4, before returning home to The Super Pit to welcome Florida Atlantic and Florida International on Feb. 9and Feb. 11.

North Texas embarks on a four-game road trip with contests at UTEP, UTSA, LA Tech and Southern Miss to finish the month of February. The Mean Green then wrap up league play at home against Western Kentucky on March 2 and Marshall on March 4 in Denton.

Game times and broadcast information for all Mean Green games will be available at a later date.
