5 winless teams heading into the weekend

Recommended Posts

These five teams will enter the weekend still seeking their first triumph of the season.

Central Florida (0-5): The Golden Knights have already lost to Furman, and could be winless into November if they don’t beat Connecticut at home this week. Temple, Houston and Cincinnati await George O’Leary’s suddenly woeful team after that.

Kansas (0-4): The undermanned Jayhawks opened the season with a loss to South Dakota State, were easily handled by a dysfunctional Rutgers team and have already played (and lost) their most winnable Big 12 game (last week at Iowa State). It’s a tough situation, and one unlikely to yield a triumph before the end of November.

New Mexico State (0-4): A visit to Mississippi on Saturday will not cure what ails the Aggies, who have dropped 14 in a row dating back to last season and have just two victories over FBS schools since the start of the 2012 season. New Mexico State might have to make the most of back-to-back home games against Troy and Idaho at the end of the month to avoid its first winless season since 2005.

North Texas (0-4): Gets Portland State (which stole a check from Washington State earlier this season) on Saturday. Plus, it’s not as if Conference USA is littered with heavyweights. On the down side, the Mean Green do draw both Marshall and Western Kentucky in crossover games. Nonetheless, this is far from the greatest threat to go 0-for-2015.

Wyoming (0-5): Another team with a loss to a FCS school, the Cowboys have dropped home games to North Dakota and Eastern Michigan in nonconference play and find themselves on the far tougher half of the Mountain West. Three of their next four are on the road, with the an Oct. 17 date against struggling Nevada coming in Laramie.

At least those 4 teams have productive basketball programs so they can say they are more of a basketball school and to keep the fans sane. We have nothing right now. UCF had 3 straight 20+ win seasons from 2010 to 2013, granted, they have been bad the past 2 years. We all know what Kansas does in basketball. New Mexico State has won 20+ games since 2011-2012 (including that season). Wyoming has won 20+ seasons two of the past 3 seasons with an 18 win season sandwiched between the two...

Although I guess UCF is no better than us at this point. But with their recent success in football, it will be easier for them to dig themselves out of this hole.

agreed most of us would kill to have the success that UCF has seen in the past 5-10 years
