Who dreams up this crap?

http://m.meangreensports.com/m/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/012115aaa.html

Tony Benford is one win shy of NT Hall of Famer Charlie Johnson (1959-65) and Gene Robbins (1971-75) for 10th among all NT coaches with 36 career wins.

.

Like many others, I'm starting to question the integrity of our Hall Of Fame and what our definition of success is?

I'm willing to go out on a limb here and say Charlie Johnson isn't in the UNT hall of fame on his coaching prowess alone.

Oh I understand, but the premise of this rediculous statement infers that somehow Benford is Hall Of Fame worthy, which as a coach he is not and will never be.

This is along the same line earlier in the year of counting his winning percentage as some great feat to honor and be watched out for because he ranks......29th out of 30?.....I'm guessing on the numbers of course but it was about as stupid as that?

Tied for 10th out of 18 total, amazing accomplishment.

Mostly against DII and other toilet bowl swirling programs you've never heard of.

I mean damn people, have some effing pride in your job over on Bonnie Brea. Don't put out shit like that when the audience knows it's BS. We do this all the time, such as with our attendance claims, letting Mac go out there on the radio and such and make a fool of himself claiming some attendance record when everyone who was there knows it's not freaking true! Just don't say anything if it's not accurate. It's embarrassing!

It reminds me of the A&M game at Texas Stadium, and that clueless Tim Crouch blares out loud:...."Today's game attendance is 46,000, CONGRATULATIONS Mean Green fans for being a part of the largest home crowd in Mean Green HISTORY!!!!!". And every one of the 35,000 wearing maroon and white are pointing and laughing and saying things like "Ha!!!! How Sad Is That?".

Holy shit how embarrassing! And how stupid that someone in our athletic department thought that was a good move?

The Charlie Johnson thing is a fiasco, although he did coach in the Missouri Valley. The Missouri Valley back then was equal or superior to the current ACC or Big 10. The Benford stat is heartbreakingly pitiful.

BTW....Charlie Johnson's career at NT was 36 and 114.

His best record in any season was 10-14.

So we'll honor this in the HOF but won't retire Kenny Lyons' jersey, our greatest player in history?

Only at North Texas.

I slightly disagree with your assessment of the crowd. I think the split was more like 60/40 A&M to NT. We had a bunch of folks there - I sat in the end zone. I think it was more like 27K Aggies and 19K Mean Green.

Are you sure????? I mean,.. It could have been 28k Aggies and 19k Mean Green?

Sarcasm for those that'll not get it.

No, I could care less what the split was. It was an embarrassing Face Palm moment for us all.
