UNT strength coach Frank Wintrich, a key member of the Mean Green’s staff, has left the school to join the staff at BYU.

Head coach Dan McCarney confirmed the news Tuesday night.

Some kind of heated disagreement. I heard yelling but couldn't tell who it was between, then as players moved out of the way from my sight line I could see Wintrich's face was blister-red and he was pissed about something? Others here saw it too who might know more?

Well, I hate this, but I think BYU has to be considered a very good football program. If anyone doubts it, ask Texas. Anyway, happy trails, Coach.

Happy for Coach Frank and think this can be viewed positively.

1. It's a good thing for a deserving coaching staff to draw interest and jobs from bigger programs (from what I could find, the BYU athletic budget is approx $12-$15mil larger than at NT)

2. Though I'm a huge fan of his efforts to build a Warrior Mindset in Denton, there's always opportunity to improve. Bring in someone who can get us off the NFL draft schnide, and it's a win

Ya, we WANT our coaches to move up to the next level. It's proof positive that they have performed well at UNT.

Sadly, this is more the exception than the rule. Hopefully that changes.

EVERY college and NFL team loses coaches in the off-season. If we were able to find a coach as good as him, we should be able to find another one. Plus, sometimes it is good to change up your training methods and work out with new and different techniques. Maybe our next strength coach can even get Dajon to work out hard. Lol.
