2015 Denton (TX) Guyer WR, Alex Honey (@AHoney5) was offered by #UNT today. Tells me he will be taking an OV to #SMU the weekend of Jan 17.

Taking an official to SMU next month. Would love to pull this kid and Derek Watson. For some reference, Watson's 7 FBS offers and Honey's 5 FBS offers would rank 1st and 3rd among our high school commits. Creighton Barr would be between the two, and currently has the most with 6 FBS offers now that Sam Miller apparently will not be able to play.

Receiver recruiting is going to be interesting going forward. We've made it very clear that we want another high school receiver for this class.

Seems like we're going after the same receiver recruits as SMU. D'erren Wilson, Alex Honey, Lee Morris, and Courtney Wright (visiting next week). So far they beat us out for Wilson, only for him to decommit. Then they beat us out for Honey. Certainly looks like they lead for Morris. And unsure on Wright, but Kansas is also.

According to this article, Honey's offer from SMU was not committable until D'erren Wilson decommitted. When Wilson decommitted Honey immediately called up the coaches at SMU to commit. He is scheduled to visit us next week, but may not anymore. Sounds like we were his backup plan to SMU.
