A foot injury cost Caleb Chumley most of his senior football season, but that won’t prevent him from getting the opportunity to play at the Division I FBS level. Pine Tree’s senior athlete, who has experience playing receiver and quarterback, will visit North Texas this weekend, he told ETSN.fm on Thursday night. North Texas is 1 of 9 schools that have offered Chumley, who also holds offers from Houston, Kansas, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, Missouri, New Mexico State, Oregon State, and Texas State. Chumley said offensive coordinator Mike Canales and offensive line coach Mike Simmonds have recruited him for the Mean Green. The leading rusher during the 2013 East Texas football season has a busy finish to his recruitment. Elkhart senior tailback Jeffery Wilson just returned from one official visit and has two more scheduled for the next two weekends leading to National Signing Day on Feb. 5. Elkhart head coach Sam Wells said Wilson visited New Mexico State this past weekend and will visit New Mexico this coming weekend. Then the 6-foot, 190-pound running back will visit North Texas on the weekend of Jan. 31. I received a text message from UNT quarterback target Josh Greer late tonight. Greer is mulling his options and will likely make a decision tonight or tomorrow. I hope to get a heads-up when he makes the call. Just reading the tea leaves, but to me that has to be a good sign for UNT. I haven’t talked directly to Greer, but did chat with his father, who said that he has a good relationship with UNT offensive coordinator Mike Canales, who recruited him out of high school.
