  1. Oh yeah, that would probably be the highlight of my life (to return for the bowl game),” Wilson said. “I’m a go-getter. I don’t let things bring me down. I don’t like to stay down. I’m built to get back up out of any situation. That’s obviously how I want to leave, but if I can’t get back, oh well. If I come back, I would love to and it would be the joy of my life, but if I don’t it’s not going to kill me.” read more: http://www.etfinalscore.com/ET-College+Sports/315029/elkharts-wilson-wants-to-return-for-unt-bowl-game
  2. Down 21-7 with the ball on our 5. Jeffery Wilson got blasted in the end zone. Everyone in the stadium thought it was a safety. How he got out of it I don't know but he simply made his mind up that he wasn't going down. So he took on 3-4 defenders and got the ball out to the 3. If he goes down, it's 23-7 and they're getting the ball back. Instead we go 97 yards and take the momentum What an effort by Wilson. He is so special.

  5. DENTON - In 2016, Jeffery Wilson had another great season at running back for North Texas, finishing just short of 1,000 yards with 936 yards rushing and 14 touchdowns. The Elkhart product is now 10 yards away from reaching 2,000 for his career and if things go well in his senior season with the Mean Green, he could leave Denton as the No. 5 rusher in school history. But don’t talk to him about numbers, at least not his own, because he’s not really interested. “At the end of the day, numbers are going to be numbers; I don’t really get too involved in it because that can send you down a selfish route,” Wilson said during UNT spring practice. “My dad taught me to never be selfish and always humble myself, so numbers don’t really matter to me. It’s good I guess (to have the numbers I do), but hey, I’m just here to win games.” Last season, Wilson had two of his best performances against Army, running for 166 yards and three scores during an October win at Michie Stadium. And when the Mean Green faced the Black Knights a second time in the Zaxby’s Heart of Dallas Bowl in late December, he had 127 all-purpose yards with two touchdowns in an overtime loss. In addition to his strong rushing numbers, Wilson also set a new career high in 2016 with 29 receptions for 247 yards. The offense of second-year UNT head coach Seth Littrell emphasizes running backs catching the ball out of the backfield, so Wilson welcomes the chance to further hone those skills in 2017. “We already knew with the offense coming in that we would have to deal with catching the ball more out of the backfield,” Wilson said. “Catching the ball has never really been a problem. I always loved catching the ball, so adding it in and putting it into the offense I feel was a great asset.” read more: http://www.etfinalscore.com/ET-Football/274615/numbers-not-elkhart-product-jeffrey-wilsons-concert-in-senior-season-at-north-texas

  7. Home > Brett Vito's Mean Green BlogUNT running back breakdown: Wilson, Jimmerson lead talented groupBy Brett Vito bvito@dentonrc.com 8:00 am on July 8, 2015 | Permalink 0 2 0 North Texas running back Antoinne Jimmerson carries the ball in a game against Florida Internaitonal last season at Apogee Stadium. Jimmerson will be a key part of UNT’s running back rotation this fall. (Denton Record-Chronicle/David Minton) As the 2015 football season approaches, we will look at each position on the Mean Green’s roster. The running back spot is up today. A look at the UNT’s pecking order 1. Jeffrey Wilson 2. Antoinne Jimmerson 3. Willy Ivery Fullbacks 1. Jarrod Lynn Outlook for the 2015 season: UNT’s running game has been its calling card for the majority of the last 15 seasons for two reasons. The first is an emphasis on the running game under a pair of coaches who employed a smash mouth philosophy in Dan McCarney and Darrell Dickey. The second is a tremendous string of running backs who have played for the Mean Green during that span, including two who went on to play in the NFL in Patrick Cobbs and current Cowboy Lance Dunbar. 9. Tonight, Elkhart star running back Jeffrey Wilson will be running under the bright lights. Wilson was selected by the Texas High School Coaches Association to compete in the All-Star football game at 7 p.m. tonight at the Alamodome in San Antonio. The game will be presented on Fox Sports Southwest. Wilson, in his time at Elkhart, had several excellent seasons at running back, which earned him the chance to go to college. He accepted a scholarship to attend the University of North Texas and become a part of the Mean Green family. His coach at Elkhart, Sam Wells, said he is proud of his former running backs accomplishments and being named to the All-Star game. The game is a really prestigious All-Star game, Wells said. It encompasses all of the schools in the state, and they undergo a big selection process. Typically, its a lot of the bigger school guys that get selected and all of the State Champions. For Jeffrey to be selected is great for him. The coaches watched film on him and selected him, he added. Its a big honor for him to be selected. It means a lot for our school, especially with him being the third player from Elkhart to be selected for the game. 11. It’s the Sunday afternoon before national signing day and the pieces are starting to fall into place for UNT. Here is where things stand as of now: – As we reported earlier, Elkhart running back Jeffery Wilson committed to UNT following his weekend visit. We will have more on him in tomorrow’s paper. He was one of the more productive small school backs in the state. I have mentioned that he could develop into more of a power back on the college level. I meant that as a comparison to Willy Ivery, who is a smaller, quicker guy in the class. The bottom line is that anyway one slices it, Wilson is a good get. read more: http://meangreenblog.dentonrc.com/2014/02/sunday-afternoon-recruiting-notes.html/
