  1. Sometimes the truth hurts! I enjoyed the days of winning conference championships just like everyone else but let’s be honest Dickey was not that great of a coach at that point in time. He quickly got passed over by SBC start ups in both coaching and recruiting. It appears his time under Fuente and Mike Norvell has opened up his offensive philosophy and allowed him to move on from his “Buick” offensive days (let’s be honest the entire crowd new which running play was coming). He’s a much better coordinator and overall coach now!
  2. You forgot to mention visitors had to watch the mandatory 15 minute video on why the "forward pass is just not feasible" LOL
  3. I gotta go with Brad Kassell, Lance Dunbar, Zack Orr and Booger Kennedy!
  4. Hey man I think your spot on! The running of the program he was fine with, just don't ask him to run an offense or manage a game. Memphis has used him in an advisory roll for a few years now. The OC title is just a formality. DD doesn't touch the play calling.
  5. Dude, openly admit I jumped to conculusions on the record thing. However, the only fact JQ is holding that record is because he played in far more games then any other receiver. And to answer your question yes many North Texas receivers had over 500 yards receiving a year, there not hidden they are in your very own fact book(strange comment). As a matter of fact Casey Fitzgerald probably would be the all time leader in receiving if he got to start about two more games. And yes Lance was great and one of the reasons he was great is because he played in a Dodge Offense that at least tried to keep the other team honest. If you think DD was a great play caller your football IQ is questionable at best. Any way I've said my piece!
  6. Nice try man, I loved JQ when he played here but he didn't even make the list for most receiving yards in a season. The only reason he has the most yards in school history is because he is the only receiver I can remember that started for four consecutive years. Look at the passing attempts from Scott Hall every year, that's straight up embarrassing. Once again he had great receivers and tight ends but his stubbornness in refusing to throw the ball got him deservedly fired.
  7. No, receiving records were not set during his tenure as head coach, and yes you're correct in the fact he had great receivers and tight ends, he just refused to throw the ball to allow them to make plays, that was what was so frustrating.
  8. In hindsight I just don't think DD was that great of a coach. He got schooled by all the FBS programs in the Big West at the start of his career and his job was only saved by the fact they moved into the Sunbelt and his teams were good enough to beat a bunch of FBS start ups for a few years until all of those programs clearly passed us by in recruiting and coaching. His record against non Sunbelt schools in the bowl years was awful. Sometimes the truth just hurts.
  9. Yeah OK, I'm sure he would have fooled the Green Bay Packers by running a half back draw on every single third down during the game! The Dickey/Ramon Flanagan offense was hands down worst offensive play calling at any level I've ever seen, it made Dan McCarneys offense look like the air raid! Don't fool yourself that offense at Memphis was all Justin Fuente, there is a reason DD didn't make the trip to VA Tech with Fuente.
  10. Oh well I guess that offense will be dead last next year!
  11. Kind of true, but the Cadets who are contracted and on scholarship (those pursing a commission) have a plethora of requirements/standards, height/weight and academics that are not required by the guys who choose not to go in.
  12. So I'm the department head of an ROTC program at a well known school in the ACC and a pround field grade officer and graduate of the UNT ROTC program. 70% of officers come from ROTC and they are not developed from some "Boy Scout system" as you discribe. It's a challenging program that takes young college students and molds them into future officers. All my cadets are top quality students who are in the process of setting themselves up for success in life. Don't get ROTC confused with programs like ATM where 75% of there cadets don't even pursue a commission in the armed forces, they just do it for school and family tradition. Those Cadets that you want dancing around are held to higher standards then virtually any of their peers!
