  1. I received the tickets in my wallet as well. Usually the name of the team that we are playing is under the words “Super Pit” on the left side of the ticket above the Section Number. In my case it says TBA.
  2. I’m 75 years old so correct me if l’m not remembering the following the following correctly. When I was finishing my degree in early 1970’s, I attended many basketball games in the super pit. I saw attendance at 9000 or so for several games when Bill Blakely was coach even though UNT (and Denton) was smaller. Two or three differences I remember: 1) Students could sit anywhere on the East side and reserved was on the West side. 2) Students could simply walk in by showing their student ID. Not sure if this is the same or if they need to pick up a ticket in advance. 3) The ceiling of the Superpit was white (now it is flat black). So it seems much darker now which seems to suck the life out of the place. I don’t think the color of the seats (dark green now vs orange then) is the difference because when the seats are full of people the color of the seats shouldn’t matter. It feels like a morgue now instead of a bright, electric atmosphere. I know that filling up the East side with students reduces paid reserved seats, but maybe that would create more of a demand for the reserved seats (and higher prices).
  3. I never understand why when people say legalize it that they also say tax it.
  4. Fran's situation of being from Dallas and being out of coaching for awhile reminds me of Bill Blakeley's history. Coach Blakeley had been out of coaching (Dallas Chaparrals), lived in Dallas, and knew the key DFW high school players. I think that he commuted to Denton after taking the job (not sure about this). The only issue with Fran commuting would be that he would be late for all the games due to I35 being backed-up due to traffic. Fran sounds like the coach we need.
  5. I would say that the best way to get a realistic view of the situation is to talk directly to Mike Leach.
  6. As I remember, the ceiling in the Super Pit used to be white. Now it is a flat black which sucks all the life and out of the building. If the ceiling was white, the light would reflect back down and create a brighter, more energetic atmosphere. The green seats contribute to the darkness, but of course they need to stay.
  7. I believe that we lost 12 games in a row to OSU before this last win. To answer your question, "when will we rise above the Stigma of the name 'North Texas'?", the answer is simple. If we should we beat OSU 12 times in a row and then lose the 13th game, then we will be saying "Oh we suck because we lost to OSU." It all comes down to the winning, not the name.

  9. ... new coach, new offense, new defense - these are good things!
  10. Check this link for information on the signing of Thomas Moreland: http://www.forneysports.com/
  11. Does anyone remember Kenny Washington's record as a Freshman when Fry was the coach?
  12. I attended a high school playoff game at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco. I was really impressed. Something like that would fit our needs nicely.
  13. Hi Harry, Please give me access. You gave me a password last week so that I could see the database, etc. but I cannot see the new bpards. Thanks for all the work that you put into the Mean Green!
  14. . . . however, one positive aspect is that it sets the stage for next year. The story will be, "will/can Todd Dodge bring success to UNT?" Then as the team shows progress, in will be "against all odds" (even though we know better). Compare this to accepting a job at Texas or A&M where the situation is that you are supposed to win. The best you can do is maintain the status quo. At UNT, you have a chance to be a hero. The situation sets up Todd Dodge to be a hero.
  15. OK. I'll be honest. We were NOT lucky to beat SMU. We could have beaten them by another touchdown but decided to take a knee and run out the clock. We beat them like a drum.
  16. I would hope that hiring Todd Dodge is completely independent of the possibility of his son being signed by UNT. My support of Todd Dodge is based upon what I have seen of his team. I watched his team beat Plano last year at Texas Stadium and then winning the state championship. Also, beating Trinity and Odessa Permian this year is no small feat. Southlake Carroll has won 45 consecutive games. It would be best that Todd Dodge allow his son to choose where he wants to go. No doubt it would be to his son's advantage to go somewhere else in order to "make it on his own", rather than going to where his dad is coaching. There have been posters on this board who are concerned that Todd Dodge's success is simply the result of working at a "winning" high school. They fail to mention that the coach that they favor may have worked at a "winning" university such as LSU. Who could fail as an assistant at LSU? Talk about an easy situation.
  17. I did a Google search on "Todd Dodge" and found the following web page that describes Todd Dodge's 10 principles as given at a speaking event. I don't remember seeing this posted. I don't like the idea of automatically ruling out a prospect for coach just because they fall into some category such as "high school coach." Todd Dodge's Principles
  18. See the Official UNT website for info about both signings (link below): UNT Signings
  19. I was checking the web cam which shows the construction of the Student Rec Center this morning and see that they are hoisting a white, girder tower assembly on top. It's work taking a look. The web site is: http://129.120.124.7/view/view.shtml
