  1. In these days of the NIL and transfer portal, it is difficult to make any predictions. Everyone is subject to a massive roster turnover.
  2. According to a source I found for rating positions in professional football, the easiest position is running back. The second easiest is defensive line. MAYBE, the incoming group will be an upgrade.
  3. If they are not students, why do we have teams? The University channels money into the athletic budget. The students pay athletic fees. Why do this for people who are not even students.
  4. Almost all of the Michigan State players entering the portal are going back.
  5. If a team is built using the NIL, does the coach answer to the university or to the collective. If the players make more from the NIL than from the value of the scholarship, who calls the shots?
  6. I think the NIL could be structured to reduce opt outs. NIL agreements could be backloaded to require the athlete to participate in all games. Refusing to play in a bowl game would result in a financial penalty of sorts inducing the player to participate.
  7. There are still over 70 QBS in the TP as of today. There may be more after Jan. 1.
  8. I have to agree with one of our frequent posters. Why do we even bother having school colors?
  9. Why would an NIL donation be tax deductible. It is payment for use of an individual’s name, image or likeness. It is not a donation to an educational institution. It might be deductible as a business expense. I think in that case, the IRS is going to require documentation. It should also be taxable income for the athletes.
  10. Earle is being judged on performance in September. It is possible with a season of coaching and practice, he might have conquered some of his problems. I am not saying he had, but it is not out of the realm of possibility for him to be a better player now.
  11. Does anyone know if Adeyi has any offers? Addaway was snapped up before the ink was dry on his papers.
  12. Looks like Rocket Sanders is transferring to South Carolina from Arkansas. He was slowed by injuries most of the year. Earlier he was All SEC running back.
  13. I believe full rides are based on cost of attendance. At UNT THIS AMOUNTS TO $27,937 for an in-state student. If we abide by the NCAA restriction of 20/week, a fifty week year would add up to a 1000 hours per year. Using these numbers, we come up with an hourly wage of $27.94. An hourly wage this size exceeds the hourly wage of 75% of hourly workers. In addition to these tangible benefits there are many intangibles associated with acquiring a college education.
  14. 247 has him 100% going to South Carolina. We have 23 in the portal. South Carolina is not much better at 18. Please. Tell me no tampering. Oscar enters the portal 12-7 and is committed by 12-8.
  15. Many colleges require a minimum number of hours to be completed at the institution to receive a degree. The number is typically about 30 or the equivalent of two full time semesters.
  16. Ohio State had nine, Georgia had eight, and Purdue had 11 all entering today.
  17. Before we start jumping off bridges, we need to check the portal. According to 247, over 500 players entered the portal today.
  18. What happens to the SMU advantage over time now that everyone can legally pay their players?
  19. Cam Ward is in the portal.
  20. Many of you keep talking about revenue sharing. Most athletic programs do not make money. They are kept up by student fees, an allocation from general institutional budgets, or some combination of both. This is why administrators are always chasing the dollar.
  21. Littrell To be co offensive coordinator for Oklahoma.
  22. The only thing that stopped Clemson’s two back set was the Clemson coaches.
