In just under a month we will beginning the 2008-2009 season. According to the NCAA(to verify what I say go here
http://www.ncaa.org/wps/ncaa?ContentID=1014 and click on 'Division 1 All-Time Winningest Teams, you can see every school with 25 years of D1 history).
Our all time record is not very good(982-1147 or just over a 46% winning percentage), but 1000 total victories is a milestone nonetheless. I've said it before, we should make a big deal out of reaching 1000 for the "common fan" and just don't tell anyone how many losses we have.

I will try to update this thread after every game as we approach said mark.

NT won 20 last year. They are picked to win the division. 18 wins is not out of the question for the season.

That should be easy enough considering this was done for Slinker for how many years?

Just don't let Vito get a hold on that loss total and we'll be fine

He does read this board, maybe I should edit the original post.

Here is my two-faced self chiming in, as I was unable to attend for a fundraiser last night, but I thought this was going to be an attendance thread.

Sadly, North Texas was to the Missouri Valley Conference in basketball what Baylor is to Big XII football. Lots of years just 'hanging out' with the big boys, but few wins. That really hurt our overall win/loss record.

And you and I both sat through the Tommy Newman and Vic Trilli eras (or is that errors?). It sure felt like we accumulated most of the 1100 losses during those days. They seemed to lose 25 games every season. Subtract their records and how would the remaining overall record look?

I believe Trilli was 20-87.
So that by itself would help a ton.

Jackson State (0-5) lost to TAMU-Corpus by 10 today. They must be worn out, traveling their first 13 games I believe.
