  4. This is a newspaper article not a blog, therefore it is assumed that a lot of the readers won't have in-depth knowledge of the program. I am not sure how you would write about the progress of a new coach without providing background on the status of the program before he arrived. Benford was an awful hire, I am not sure how you sugarcoat that. As for as hyperbole, how so? This seemed to me to be a fairly in-depth article that provided some unknown facts at least to most of us. Vito IMO definitely slants his writing based on his relationship with the subject. Dodge was horrible and Dickey was one of the best NT has ever had per Brett. In typical Vito fashion, he rarely expresses any position on current coaches.

  5. I was on the committee....Coach Trilli got the ball rolling on the green seats. Absolutely. The whole campaign was his idea.

  10. That video reminds me of three things: 1. Hope our kickers perform as young Mr. Moore did in his first appearance. 2. Hope our young RB's show the flashes young Mr. Wilson showed. 3. Man, am I thankful for our QB depth. With all due respect, I don't think those two would have made our current roster.

  11. Reminds me of a joke about a young coach and an old coach standing on a hill watching a bunch of top prospects. The young coach says, "Let's run down there and sign one!" The old coach looks at him and says, "Hell, let's walk down there and sign all of them." Actually, the story is about an old bull and a young bull looking down on a bunch of cows, but you get the picture. Plus, my version is board friendly.

  12. I. Love. McCasland. This program is a complete 180 from what it was one year ago today. An excellent article highlighting just how much of an impact he's made!

Holds Utah, UNT, Tulane, and UMASS with a ton more interest. Kid can go! Saw him at two different camps and man did he impress!!!

  16. In my view the last scholarship in 18 should go to a guy 6-8 or 6-9 with a little size. What are your thoughts to the type of player we will get for our last bball scholly? GMG

  19. Ok article and good publicity but not in depth really. Murray currently isn’t even top five in the OL much less the offense. They were just looking at his size and experience. Woodworth is far superior and should be in any top five. Same with Gardner. Hamilton would be on my list in his place. My top five offense: Fine, Woodworth, Guyton, Lawrence, Smith defense: Young, Ejiya, Hamilton, Hall, English (Brooks if English can’t go)

  20. Not to mince words too finely, but it is in a list of possible signature wins. The parenthetical remark only notes it is not P5 but still a big win. I disagree with its placement on said list. It would be a good win against a solid program and could help in recruiting, but it isn’t program changing like those others.

  26. Draper's one of those players who's just exciting to watch (even on perimeter defense) every time he sets foot on the court, and I think it's a credit to both his work ethic and the coaching staff that he has improved as much as he has and really found a critical role on this team. If you add up all the extra playing/practicing time from the CBI and the Italy trip, it's almost like the players are getting an extra semester of experience without losing any eligibility.

  27. She's aiming Ivy/MIT/Cal Tech with UTD and UT on the radar (I...I just don't know if I can go on living if she becomes a Longwhorn). UNT is still on the table for financial matters and the fact that she might have opportunities here that she might not get in higher profile programs. She's likely to be published this coming year, which I doubt many other programs are offering at the sophomore level.

  29. Hey again fellow Mean Green! Just wanted to let you know some upcoming events in case you end up in the relevant cities. Cerebus said it was cool to occasionally put these updates since I'm not actively trying to sell you stuff. If you find yourself in Phoenix the last Wednesday of the month, I'm regularly appearing at Lolo's Chicken and Waffles downtown (1220 S. Central) for clean comedy at 7:30 p.m. They have the show every Wednesday, but I'm there the last week every month. He now usually has me headline since I have loads of clean jokes and can perform as long as he needs me to! And you know you've hit the big time when you headline at Lolo's Chicken and Waffles 😉 Most other Wednesdays, I'll be hosting the open mic at Crack-Ups Comedy Club, adjacent to Toso's Sports Bar and Restaurant, at 2401 W. Union Hills Drive. Saturday, June 30th at 6 p.m. I'll be hosting and producing a clean comedy show featuring some nationally touring comedians who have also appeared in commercials, tv shows, and indie films. It is part of the Duke City Comic Con, taking place from Friday June 29th to Sunday July 1st. If you have purchased a pass either for Saturday or the whole weekend, it is included with your Convention admission. It is at the Hotel Albuquerque Old Town. I will also be selling my art there all weekend and will be doing a live watercolor painting demo that will be raffled off. Friday, June 13th, I'm producing and featuring in a Cosplay and Art Comedy Show at Comedy Off Main Street at 38 S. McDonald in Mesa, AZ to coincide with their 2nd Friday monthly Art Walk. It will be hosted by my friend who is a famous cosplayer (costume model and promoter) known as AZ Powergirl Cara Nicole. Times TBA. The board game I'm illustrating is in its final stages, and we will hopefully be Kickstarting in July. It is called To Grandmother's House and will be an all-ages game with lots of monsters and other fun supernatural stuff. If any of you happen to be in the Phoenix or Albuquerque areas on those dates, I hope to see you there...and be sure to say hi! You can stay updated more often than every few months if you want to follow my social media below. Thanks and I hope to be able to visit Mean Green Country again soon! 30. No, unfortunately this is very true. The University of North Texas has some of the top programs in the state - this is a FACT We, however, are not talking about facts. We're talking about opinion, and more specifically perception. We are not a b-list or 2nd chance school because of our programs, no, we are a b-list or 2nd chance school because we perceived as being such. Even in recruiting, rarely is UNT the kids' first choice. Often we are the best fit. And there isn't necessarily anything wrong with that. Now as to the origin of this perception.... we can debate that but I'd say it's combination of lackluster athletics and a commuter school vibe. many in higher education disagree, but the quickest way to get people to take a 2nd look at UNT, and in doing so, come to the realization (through research or whatever) that we are one of the top Universities in Texas is for our football and basketball programs to have consistent success. That's how it works in Texas. People identify with athletics. Bottom line we need to win!!! And win a lot!!!

  33. Now, for the rest of the story for a young man that wanted to play for North Texas but was never offered... Commits his week to Missouri. https://www.dentonrc.com/sports/former-ryan-receiver-tauskie-dove-commits-to-missouri/article_2e97cdd2-0f27-59af-a54d-8f579d99c79f.html#tncms-source=article-nav-next Originally signed with Tyler Junior College. He seems to have addressed any academic concerns and and his performance in track has quelled any questioning his speed. It would be nice if we could still get him as a gray shirt commit. He played for Denton Ryan and his mother is enrolled at North Texas. Ryan senior wide receiver Tauskie Dove (88) catches a pass and scores a touchdown, while being defended by Highland Park senior defensive back James Herring (30) at AT&T Stadium, Friday, December 15, 2017, in Arlington, Texas.
