  1. In recruiting, words like sleeper and potential can get thrown around a lot. However, both could be used to accurately describe the next North Texas target I had the pleasure of visiting with, Waxahachie offensive tackle LaDarius Henderson. LaDarius transferred to Waxahachie from nearby Desoto just prior to his junior season. What’s interesting is he didn't even participate in football at Desoto. He gives a lot of credit to Coach Kitna and his staff for convincing him to come out and play ball this past season. Still quite new to the game of football, LaDarius is also still growing physically. Having just turned 16 a couple of months ago he already stands at 6-4 and weighs 265 pounds. A recent trip to the doctor revealed he still has room to grow and very well may well end up around 6-6 or taller when all is said and done with his big frame and long wingspan. This young man has a tremendously high ceiling with a lot of room to grow. He is being recruited by North Texas Offensive Coordinator Graham Harrell, who is very familiar with the area around Waxahachie, having played his high school ball at nearby Ennis. LaDarius Henderson Quick Hits Q: Have you had a chance to visit North Texas yet? A: “Not yet. Planning on going later this month or earlier this summer.” Q: Other teams you are hearing from? A: “Received an offer today from Incarnate Word. Also hearing from Arizona State, SMU and UTEP.” Q: Thoughts on North Texas? A: “I have a great deal of respect for North Texas for being my first offer. I am excited to take a visit. I do like the coaching staff a lot.” Q: Biggest thing in choosing a school? A: “The biggest thing that outweighs everything is the relationship with the coaching staff. I just like genuine and real people. That's a very big thing for me." Q: What is your favorite Restaurant? A: “Hibachio in Waxahachie. You have to try their Teriyaki Chicken bowl.” Hudl link: http://www.hudl.com/profile/9291534/LaDarius-Henderson

  4. Mason is a class act. Although it seemed to me that they were trying to get him to say we know we can't beat power 5 schools, but we should be honored to just play them. He would never say that. He said he wants to play them to show what we can do. I love that attitude. Because I believe why line up and play if you already believe you cannot win? You may as well forfeit and only play the games you believe you can win. Glad Mason didn't take the bait of P5 schools are big and powerful and lil ole NT should just be proud that they let us play them.

  6. It's pretty well documented, that while playing Army has been great from an entertainment perspective, it has been worse for the team. Having to prepare for an unconventional offense that no other team on our schedule runs, while also dealing with the injury concerns that linemen/LB's face with all the blocking schemes of a triple option attack. I'm also still really salty about that Guyton hit last year that apparently wasn't targeting. Seriously F*** that guy

  7. WE COME IN AT #4!! https://collegefootballnews.com/2018/04/daily-five-top-group-of-five-vs-power-five-upset-alerts/2 Call this the puncher’s chance game. Under new head man Chad Morris, can the Hogs manage to come up with more of a defense than his SMU teams cranked up? At the very least, his offense should throw the ball at will. But North Texas is dangerous, with a loaded offense returning, and nine starters back on defense including all four in the secondary. This is a Mean Green team that put up 497 points last season in a nine-win campaign, and now it’ll be even more dangerous. And Arkansas – coming off a road game at Colorado State – might be looking a wee bit ahead to the SEC opener at Auburn, followed up by a trip to Arlington to face Texas A&M, followed up by Alabama. Whatever the total is, go over, and assume this will be a wild and crazy 47-42ish game with about 800 passing yards and lots of big plays. And an experienced UNT team that won’t be fazed in any way by the SEC environment.

  8. Time flies! It seems like yesterday when I filmed you at a tailgate party behind Fouts. You look a little unsteady, are you sure you were legal then? No doubt you can handle it now. Have a great day.

  11. Some of his better OOC games that he coached here were against Power teams. We were in the game at K-State and UGa in the 4th quarters. We didn't get absolutely crushed at LSU, like we had previous times down there.

  15. And we fall perfectly on their schedule for it to be a "trap" game for them. With a number of relatives that live in Arkansas and a few alums of the university, this would provide me with hours/years/decades of joy.

  16. It's about 3% or 1 INT every 34 passes. Translation = not terrible but not great. Needs to improve. (worse than average)

  18. A little disheartening to see the Dallas event move from Dot's Hop House to Happiest Hour. Hands down one of the most overpriced, douche bars in Dallas.

  19. Actually, we do know, because it has been specifically said, multiple times by Littrell & Baker. Littrell & his staff did not like the Army matchup because it was hard on his team. It took them out of their rhythm, because each season, for a full week, they had to put the breaks on normal practices & practice for triple option... then you have that blocking scheme & dirty play getting our guys hurt... He wanted out of the series. Wren delivered with a VERY WINNABLE replacement. Some people don't like it because of Liberty's religious alignment. Who cares? It's a football game! That's it. End of story.

  20. When I realized how consistently dirty they play, especially Captain Cheapshot out there in the secondary, I was more than happy to let them off the schedule. I was kinda disappointed in their fans at Apogee as well. Maybe I'm just being idyllic, but I expected better.

  22. Joking aside, Lynchburg is a nice looking town on the James River. History buffs in particular will enjoy coming to both Virginia games. Near Lynchburg are Appomattox, Lexington, the D-Day Memorial and more. But I have to agree, the airfare to LYH is killer. You might as well go to Paris for that kind of money!

  24. Coastal Carolina vs Arkansas, in Fayetteville, was fun to watch last year. Arkansas was able to squeak by CC 39-38. At that point in the season CC was 1-7. Anything can happen. I agree that it will be tough but we come out on top.

  25. 1. North Texas Mean Green Current Projected Starter: Mason Fine, Jr. Fine throws way too many interceptions, but he also threw for over 4,000 yards and should be among the nation’s top bombers. No. 2 man Quinn Shanbour is back, too, after getting in a little bit of work. https://collegefootballnews.com/2018/01/ranking-breakdown-of-all-130-pre-spring-quarterback-depth-charts/5

  30. Morris will surprise God and everybody if he can take an inherited roster, introduce his offense, and have it hitting on all cylinders by September 15. He probably has a quality group of athletes but I think we can overcome any edge he might have with execution and erection...the intense desire to get some payback for previous Arkansas trips (one in particular we coulda, woulda, shoulda) and a piece of the hide of the former SMUtmaster. A victory would be a twofer! Like oldguy, I'm hoping for the best.

  32. This. And from scanning Twitter, it is amazing the number of coaches that have sent out "Thank You's" to our staff for stopping by or posting pictures of the HS coach with one of our coaches. I must say that our coaches are putting in the effort to build those relationships. Our image is changing in the minds of recruits and coaches because of this hard work and our recent results.

  33. Just take a gander here: http://www.espn.com/college-football/team/schedule/_/id/2335/year/2017 If we're a serious team, which I believe we are, do you think Liberty is a team that's going to beat us? We essentially have 2 FCS games this season. This game will count as an FBS game since Liberty is in transition... but they're still very much on the FCS level talent/ability-wise. Wins, wins, wins... doesn't matter who/where we get them from... just win games. Hello Boise model! PS. I know what some of you are thinking... We are a LOOOOOOOONG way away from Portland State. Do not bring up Portland State.

  34. We just moved to Heath so I took the fam to the Rockwall caravan. I've never been. It was really nice and I thought well done. Wren Baker, Coach Littrell, McCasland and Mitchell were all there. We had to leave a little early because the kids were a little hyper. (poor Scrappy) 😵 Coach McCasland came over and spoke with me and the kids for a bit. What a nice guy... Attendance was actually a little more than I expected in Rockwall...I'll bet the FW, Plano and Dallas events are very well attended. Good job Alumni group and Athletic Dept.

Morris: Indiana, Louisville, Memphis Davis: Illinois, La Tech, Memphis Shorter: Houston Bean: Colorado State, smuT, La Tech Gibbs: Illinois, Bowling Green I understand where you are coming from but I would argue the 2018 class was an improvement and the 2019 recruits should tell us if we are still headed in the right direction.

  38. We've already re-scheduled Liberty to replace the Army games. Nothing to reconsider, unless we're going to start a new home/home, which would not make any sense. If Littrell thinks it's detrimental to the team, I'll defer and agree. Who cares what the fans think, if it's bad for the team. If Littrell would rather play Liberty for the team's sake, let's play Liberty.

  42. UNT is going where the growth and money is. This campus will have the same effect on UNT Denton that UNT Dallas, UNT Dallas Law School, and UNT Health Center in Ft Worth does, which is nothing.I am just surprised that University of Texas at Dallas didn't beat us to it.
